Yes it is very normal. You need to use a lot of vang to get rid of twist and flatten out the sail. I wanted them to use more vang at 0:43 but they liked the feel of less vang.
Usually in 29ers the crew holds the mainsheet upwind. It allows them to control the boat's heel more precisely. The skipper takes it during tacks, at the start line, and down wind. I've only seen 1 team do it well the other way.
@@georgegodden8010 Well if you are into using a trapeze and spinnaker single handed, then an RS 700 might be good. Single handed boat with a main and a spinnaker, also a trapeze.
I sailed one when I weighed 65 kilos, and it was fine in light winds. It gets sketchy in medium to heavy air, but we used to do it a training camps for practice. ruclips.net/video/yxfifbuTurE/видео.html
All over haha. This was filmed in Long Beach. I have done most of my sailing in San Francisco bay, but now I am going to college near the Santa Barbara area.
It must have been pretty windy! The mains look really depowered yet the crews are flat trapping! Great video.
Great video ! I don't know the 29er at all but, is it normal such a big twist in the sail when sailing upwind (like at 0:43) ?
