I actually have a few busted controllers, that I cut the cord short and have hanging up for decoration, that would be PERFECT for this. Great job on the reupload, I missed the first one but I like that you corrected yourself. Good on ya.
I respect Kevin. He made a mistake and fixed it by taking down the original video! I may look into picking up this kit in the future since you do not have to open up the controller to charge it.
If you could sink an SNES controller to act as a joycon held sideways then that would be so cool because some games have a different control scheme that works perfect for the SNES controller with the same buttons of a joycon held sideways (minus the regular shoulder buttons)
Ha ha! I made the same assumption that you did! I didn’t notice the little charging cable that came in the box, and didn’t realize it could be charged through the LED indicator until I saw a video review online. So really, the only downside is that for firmware updates (which will likely be few and far between) you’ll have to open it up to update via the micro USB port.
Now I can mod my nes classic controller. I don't know why Nintendo thought having a 1 or 2 feet cord is a "reasonable" length for a wired controller -_-.
the snes controller is actually prfect for the switch cause it has all the buttons a singl joycon (sideway) has (the stick is replaced by a d pad but it has the same use). you could technicaly use with tons of games, even ones like mario odyssey although the d pad would limit you in 3d movement. although it could be great for mario kart too!
I would rather just use my SN8Bitdo Pro controller. Has force feedback motion controls and all the added buttons for the Switch. Gives the same classic feel with everything you need for classic gaming.
Still ll say one thing, don't use this or any MOD on original retro controllers, there aren't many. We should try to preserve as much as we could. But u can try with repro or 3rd party ripoffs.
Or couldn't you just buy like a replacement case instead of taking apart a controller wouldn't that just be cheaper, unless you already have a controller that doesn't work or something
Mikey 64 well that's a good idea, to use a faulty one, but no there aren't many. At least original are depleting in the market, once u could buy em for what? 5 bucks? And now? They do like 20. It's not just inflation, trust me
Porter Rockwell well i dig the look its just its so hot here this summer my head would boil if i wore one. thus the question. thanks for telling me what they're called and reminding me i've seen them on discovery.
While this us cool, I think I would rather use their receiver connected to a wii-remote attached to an NES classic controller. Basically still wireless without any of the extra steps.
Nicky Scott they also make one for the genesis/mega drive 6 button controller from what ive seen on their website. They just arent featured in the video
is there a delayed button response when paired to the original nes, because i like to play tetris at really fast paces and would like to know if it instantly responds with the nes
God damn I can't wait till Christmas lol. Have to wait till then to buy a Switch for my son I want to do it now but then he would be spoiled the wife says, I don't care I just wanna play Zelda and Mario oddessy ffs!! If I buy myself one it will just be my 4 year old son's like my ps4 and cell phone are the lion's share of the time lol. Definitely gonna get this controller mod when he does get it so I can rip the classic games on big screen with old school feel.
Rumblestiltzkin Well, you do have to buy one in order to mod it XD But yeah, the cables are way too short and annoying. Can't wait to get another SNES and NES Classic Controller, to mod them and keep the original ones intact :D
Exactly, thank you. I had a Nintendo 8 bit (NES) back in the day, and I don't remember the cable being on the side either, although I'm not sure about the whole Mandela effect. But I was surprised, when I finally got a NES classic. Not only were the controller cables shorter than the original, but the cable came out of the controller on the left side, instead of in the middle, which would make more sense, logically speaking.

At least you admit it
Here before the title changes
Keep up the awesome work Kevin! Always enjoy your vids! 😁😎
Omg! I knew I wasn't crazy when I thought I saw this video!
“So am supposed to go full speed and wreck this thing” 👏👏
Lmao, I was super confused when I saw this re uploaded.
If you could sink an SNES controller to act as a joycon held sideways then that would be so cool because some games have a different control scheme that works perfect for the SNES controller with the same buttons of a joycon held sideways (minus the regular shoulder buttons)
"I can go and brake, so that's all we really need"
Filthy casual
Filthy person who thinks differently than I do.
I like that you show your short comings... it shows how easy to use the product is in real life... or not so easy lol keep It up buddy
Ha ha! I made the same assumption that you did! I didn’t notice the little charging cable that came in the box, and didn’t realize it could be charged through the LED indicator until I saw a video review online.

Wow, how could you get this wrong! I'm disappointed Kevin. Very disappointed, but somehow I still liked the video. 😂
that.... doesn't make sense
It would be really awesome to have this for the GameCube control and have a makeshift wavebird! That would be so awesome!
J-Money THIS IS WHAT I NEED AHAHAHAH
Ah this is cool. I do love retro gaming mixed with modern tech as well 🙌🏼
The second he mentioned the cable being offset, I had to check my own NES controller just to be sure 😂
Still the dopest looking controller ever ;)
I currently have a setup here I can use NES and SNES with whatever, as I have a magicns adpter, a wiimote, and the classic controllers.
Now I can mod my nes classic controller. I don't know why Nintendo thought having a 1 or 2 feet cord is a "reasonable" length for a wired controller -_-.
Kevin I watch all your video and I love them all!🤟🏻❤️😜
Ngl tbh It feels so good hearing you say you were wrong. Sorry.
I'd love to see a DIY kit for the SN ProPad
I want one for switch just to use with pocket rumble!
Kringhetto just get a pokken controller
piloy85 why pay more? I already have a good fight stick. I just love retro controllers.
The original NES controller is amazing with shovel knight!!
the snes controller is actually prfect for the switch cause it has all the buttons a singl joycon (sideway) has (the stick is replaced by a d pad but it has the same use). you could technicaly use with tons of games, even ones like mario odyssey although the d pad would limit you in 3d movement. although it could be great for mario kart too!

Wow, what an opening
Coolio I love 8bitdo
Gambit 21 I like you because I now know I'm not the only one who says coolio
Well We have all those snes games and megaman collections also the shovel knight games
Legend says kennie never takes off his bennie-
oh what's that? He didn't have his bennie on in one of his 2015 videos? Crap...
Still ll say one thing, don't use this or any MOD on original retro controllers, there aren't many. We should try to preserve as much as we could. But u can try with repro or 3rd party ripoffs.
David King Jr, No there’s still plenty around. Even so you could just use a controller with a faulty pcb if you’re worried about shortages.
It doesn't affect the original product at all though, just put the old pcb in a safe place?
Or couldn't you just buy like a replacement case instead of taking apart a controller wouldn't that just be cheaper, unless you already have a controller that doesn't work or something
Or if you have a 3d printer maybe you could print a custom case for it
Mikey 64 well that's a good idea, to use a faulty one, but no there aren't many. At least original are depleting in the market, once u could buy em for what? 5 bucks? And now? They do like 20. It's not just inflation, trust me
Good way to repurpose broken retro nes and SNES controllers but wouldn't want to ruin working ones
I can't wait to play Super Mario Odyssey with an NES controller
Hey, man, we all make mistakes and are wrong as hell sometimes. It's all good.
For $20. To save a few old controllers collecting dust? Thanks for the tip!
Or you know, you can use it on the nes or nes classic with 8bitdos reciever
Great video, love the channel. But one thing really bugs me: how are you not hot all the time wearing what seems to be a winter hat?
Smash B The only people allowed to wear beanies are crab/salmon fishermen. I'm serious.
Porter Rockwell well i dig the look its just its so hot here this summer my head would boil if i wore one. thus the question. thanks for telling me what they're called and reminding me i've seen them on discovery.
Why is this dude not getting more subs
I am pretty sure you can do this with a Sega Mega Drive controller.
Zero mention of the Genesis/MegaDrive mod kit
Jack Betts No retro receiver for the Genesis controller yet so sortof disappointing.
This would be great for nes virtual console
My good sir. If i mag ask...does controllers wont crash the switch systems right?
While this us cool, I think I would rather use their receiver connected to a wii-remote attached to an NES classic controller. Basically still wireless without any of the extra steps.
At 5:35 I think you left in the CRT high pitched noise. Kind of annoying
Can’t find that game he’s playing at 5:06. Can sumone post what game it is or where i can find it
I saw it before it was taken down.
I'm surprised that they haven't made any wireless bluetooth Sega classic controllers, yet. Unless I missed something.
Nicky Scott they also make one for the genesis/mega drive 6 button controller from what ive seen on their website. They just arent featured in the video
They should make that for the Wii classic controller
Dang it Kevin.
is there a delayed button response when paired to the original nes, because i like to play tetris at really fast paces and would like to know if it instantly responds with the nes
It's like 35 C outside... Why in the name of GOD you wear this cap?
Damn that was a pretty big fuckup
Hopefully not many people watched the old video
If it were $10, I'd go for it, but $20? That's as much as I paid for my 8bitdo NES30Pro.
Surprisingly the Nintendo Switch has 16 buttons.
Kevin lookin like kratos
Why does this guy not have a million subs yet
Dan da tan man Man Because who could eat that many?
Psilocin Finite good one
Dan da tan man Man Cause he wears a beanie in the middle of summer for no reason.
Remember the Nintendo switch clone video it wasint a clone because it was made in 2016
i was wrong... i messed up... and now youre gone
try the nes controller with crawl!
love the vid and the beard!
When are the winners announced for the switch giveaway?
Can you use a nes classic controller for the mod?
how much money would the kit cost.
is it possible to do that with an nes(snes classic mini controller?
fay_ They sell sets for the snes nes snes classic mini and nes classic mini.
Sean Motis ok thanks :)
Why can’t the switch use wireless headphones? The Joycon and Pro Controller are wireless.
where did you get the controller is it a dev kit??
What CRT is he using? It's really cool looking!
Vanilla Thunder Go to his SNES classic setup
How is it powered? Is it rechargable?
I assume you can use this with a controller that isn't currently working since you swap out the board?
Chris Mabe i dont see why not. You're replacing both the original board and removing the wire all together.
When kratos comes to the real world
good grief. who in the right mind would use an NES controller with the switch.
Daddy kenson
Did the switch all of a sudden get blu tooth function? I saw you had the switch out on the table?
Does a USB port on the dock wirelessly travel to the switch wirelessly? Thinking about getting one but upset there is no blu tooth?
Does this work with the NES Mini controller? That would be the way to play it as the cable is too short on it and they have an adapter for the mini.
8bitdo also sell a conversion kit for the classic mini controllers
I just got my switch 5 days ago and I am wondering if anyone else has a weird left joycon that clicks differently then the right, please help - thanks
DanielDoes45 I'm getting mine tommorow so I can check tommowoz
A few buttons is all you need to play Pokémon
Can I please have some joy cons
God damn I can't wait till Christmas lol. wazzup
hi
What kind of hat do you wear?
Not a trick question lol
I want one like that lol
Release the Snyder cut
i was right Kevin was wrong
i wanna know the game in laptop
I wonder if Kevin pins comments.
No shame in round 2
Alex at Nintendo Life did a far better video showing and explaining this product.
Does this work with the S/NES Mini-Controllers too?
They have them for the mini/Classic controllers too. Probably the best choice so you don't have to buy a gross original controller haha
Rumblestiltzkin Well, you do have to buy one in order to mod it XD
But yeah, the cables are way too short and annoying. Can't wait to get another SNES and NES Classic Controller, to mod them and keep the original ones intact :D
Input lag?
Has anyone tried this with octopath?
He reminds me of Charmx
Can I use that on the wii u gamepad?
Nope. Replying to myself instead of deleting this post
Echo?
I see lots of controllers
Damn i should play zelda now
I KNOW I SAW A VIDEO EARLIER
hi
hello kevin
@2:35 mandela effect
Exactly, thank you. I had a Nintendo 8 bit (NES) back in the day, and I don't remember the cable being on the side either, although I'm not sure about the whole Mandela effect. NES was good
