Discovering this in 2023. Saw the live on tonight show (highly recommend). This is pure dope, the whole track. I think it is a cover from Horace silver. Please someone make that kind of music with same energy, a story to tell, and a level of craftsmanship that high. Those are insane musicians.
i was listening to cowboy bebop's soundtrack when this came up on my feed, i was like "the thumbnail looks cool, let me see if the music is up to par" let me just say, it did not disappoint.
OMG OMG OMG OMG I have adult attention deficit disorder and I have been searching for this type of Jazz. It's like this type of Jazz matches the noise in my head and I can be so productive while this is playing. It's crazy. Im left-handed, well ambidextrous but prefer my left for writing and right for everything else. When i play this music around ppl trying to concentrate, they get so annoyed but i can literally build a rocket or go to sleep listening to very high enrgy jazz. If i dont play this i might drift off to space for 22 hours and try to cram a little into the 23rd hour before i go to sleep every other day. I grew up playing all types of instruments and its a shame you have to literally search for good music and trash is just put in front of you endlessly. speaks to the fabric and condition of society and the lack of depth in most people. I used to watch cowboy bebop....most underrated show for a lot of reasons regardless of anime. They literally breathed life into this music for a generation of ppl that wouldnt have known or looked for it otherwise. Glad i grew up around real humans that knew what moved the soul.
I don't know why I'm thinking of Bruce Lee and the Green Hornet driving around in the sweet ass ride back in the 60s! But that's exactly what this reminds me of! Sweeeeeet😭😂
Never been a jazz fan, but I would be if there were more songs with the intensity of the Whiplash soundtrack. Haven't had any luck finding them until now. This is fire!
Speeding out of Nutville to get to the Kilimanjaro Cookout while eating a Big Mac because the Backwoods Sideman is giving you a Time Check but you were experiencing a Prelude to a Kiss so now you have to hurry so you can play “Waltz of the Mushroom Hunters” in front of Senator Sam.
@@henrykvistad3337 it’s 100% true. Musically educated people understand what it takes. It’s not to be judged with the same criteria as what you want to listen to on hit radio.
Saxrasta i would argue that taste is subjective. regardless of how i feel about this piece there is bound to be someone who just doesn’t like it. to confine music, man’s crowning achievement, to a binary field such as “you either get it or you don’t” is incredibly conceited and short-sighted. although i like this piece myself, to conclude that everyone who disagrees with your point of view is of inferior perspicacity and wit is, respectfully, absolutely unfounded.
@@henrykvistad3337 some music requires a certain amount of education and knowledge just to understand. Without that minimal education a true opinion cannot be made.
Saxrasta au contraire, just because you were taught a specific way to think and interpret data doesn’t mean you are of a higher caliber than your peers. your false sense of superiority and incessant elitism are beyond vexatious.
Yeah, I can definitely hear how Yoko Kanno was inspired by this for TANK! Tank is still its own song, but no doubting the kernel of the idea is right here.
Isn't it amazing that some of the most incredible performances you can hear on RUclips get a bunch of thumbs down?!?! And probably from cats who couldn't play their way out of a wet paper bag.
When I taught at CSU Long Beach, Charlie Davis (lead trumpet) was one of our trumpet teachers and had the office next to mine. When he would warm up he would literally knock things off shelves in my office. A really nice guy, excellent trumpet teacher and he said he loved his time with Buddy and playing on this album. Check out his lead work on "Waltz of the Mushroom Hunters".
So disappointed this got removed from Spotify

@@taktthemaestro defo big band would recommend som bebop if you like it probs the closet thing you'll find to this masterpiece
Funny how there are like three Johns in one orchestra. That must've been confusing.

Same brotha
Was thinking the same
Well bebop itself is a jazz sub genre with a fast tempo, so that makes sense
Yeah.....Tank reminds me of this.😜✌
I play the bassline and damn if it isn't still the most fun tune we have
