Celia Rose I don’t have Asian roots at all, I’m a natural light blonde, with blue eyes, however, I too understand that feeling of being an outcast, or racism. You wouldn’t believe how some people from various races have treated me, and I’m a very nice, sincere, accepting person, who has NEVER judged anyone by the color of their skin, or where they can from.
Growing up in a military family, and moving in and around different cultures, (as well as having amazing parents who weren’t raciest in the least) I’ve always felt very comfortable around any and all races, or any color of skin, shape of eyes... When I meet people, I’m never focusing on their race, or culture, but on the person. But, because of this I’ve been terribly naive, and deeply hurt by comments made by other’s who have come to look at my being Caucasian, as some sort of a disease. A lot of other races, don’t think, or can’t imagine that Caucasian people ever get discriminated against, but let me tell you, it happens a lot, and it’s as hurtful to me, as I’m certain it is for anyone else, of any race who is hurt by those who have been raised to deeply dislike anyone who is not like them.
My heart hurts for anyone who has ever felt this way. Much of the time when people dislike a certain culture or race, it’s the stereo type they’re disliking, and they forget that every race, and every culture has its bad, good, and in-between. No one should ever be treated badly just because they are a race or culture different from one’s own.
Gosh, if we could all just live in one another’s bodies, or souls, or hearts long enough to really understand how another person is feeling, wouldn’t that be awesome?
Guy’s videos are so amazing, because he not only makes people look gorgeous, but he dares to talk with his clients about subjects that others might feel taboo! And Kevin; what a brave and courageous thing he has done, by allowing others to view his very personal and private journey thru alopecia!
I commend you all! And Celia, you just keep being you beautiful self. If someone isn’t willing to get to know us, because of our race, religion, culture, etc., then I don’t need that person in my life!

The change was dramatic and he looks so confident! You’re a hair therapist, Guy! His story made me cry. Hair seems like such a huge part of many cultures, it’s heartbreaking when you lose that part of yourself.
I feel for him going through the alopecia journey. I was stressed and developed it as well when I was taking care of my cancer stricken mom(may she be at peace) and I lost a massive patch of my hair due to it. I had to learn to deal so to speak and change my thinking and to learn that things will be ok! His story is so inspiring and Guy you are inspiring! Much love to both of you 😘😘

As a Chinese-Ameeican, I have been through a lot of racism. I had dyed my hair many color because I wanted to be like a super hero. I got teased about it because there were no Asian superheroes. Now as a adult. I rock the red hair like black widow from the Avengers and now I am going ash brown. Just sending love because we need to share it...our stories are important♡
Yes baby doll you did it again, you bring light to difficult situations, I have clients with alopecia and being there for them and giving them hair styles that embrace theirselves inspired them and me I'm so happy your being more authentic and breaking stereotypes, I've seen a wall that you had up for years that you covered with laughing and now that wall is breaking and your being more true to yourself and raw keep doing you boo NEVER let anyone ruin that

Unfortunately, though stress is one cause of Alopecia, it isn't the only cause, and it can be compounded by other immune diseases like asthma & allergies. When my hair fell out at age 13, my reaction was EXACTLY like Kevin's.... 30-ish years later, I can confidently say I own the disease, rather than being a product of it. It takes a lot of courage to talk about something so mentally & emotionally taxing, and Kevin has my utmost respect for sharing his story. ❤❤❤

Do you never get sicknesses like cough, flu and fever? I think that's one of the things i noticed with people who have an immune disorder. Btw i have AA too. The first three years were the hardest.
@@lalalalaland84 fortunately I'm not prone to colds in general, but I have dealt with the challenge of asthma and allergies since childhood. Learning to work with those conditions early on absolutely helped form my attitude about alopecia, and having a strong support system in family & friends has been invaluable as well.

My cousin has alopecia areata. She is only 25 and I really feel for her. I wish this world would value our wellbeing, as in, the wellbeing and mental health of members of the society should be an actual measure of quality of life, rather than how much a person earns. Stress attacks our body.

I have also suffered from the same condition during my teenage and I know how it feels to lose my hair and go through all the stress and the bullies. But now after 4 years, my hair has fully regrown and I wanted you to recommend me a saloon where I can color my hair here in Hongkong so I can feel more confident and stronger.

Guy, the energy you put out is amazing and what happened to you all those years ago hurts to hear. I believe the unnatural colors are more fun to play with and it also brings out more our personalities.

Love the hair. Love your story. You are so not alone. I've lived my whole life not feeling good enough, pretty enough, skinny enough. It took loosing my sister to a terrible disease that I realized what other people thought didn't matter. Be yourself. You only have one life to live and you need to enjoy every minute of it. That's why at the age of 50 I died my hair purple and didn't care if people stared!
I have severe alopecia areata now, and this gives me more hope than any doctor has given me 😂 Thanks Guy!

Hearing Kevin’s hair being described really makes me want to convince my dad to get his hair dyed. It’s just about or even might be the same color naturally as Kevin’s. He is so overprotective of his hair that he almost never even lets others touch it, and his girlfriend has to beg and plead for him to let her trim his split ends so that it keeps looking healthy. I think he should dye it so that he gets all of the gray/silver looking streaks out of it from age and have it back to its original color, cuz aside from that he looks like he hasn’t really aged a day in about 15 years or so, and he just loves it when people point out how young he looks. I think dying it would really bring back some confidence and not show his age as much, which is something he would really like.
I lost my hair going vegan. It was coming out in gobs. I started eating meat again and it took a year to recover. I feel your pain. I do not know who these women were but I'd be happy to have either of you as boyfriends. You guys seem nice. My family dates and marries all kinds... Black, Latino, Asian, Indian, White, we represent.
I think it's very sad that you think this way. And whoever told you that veganism is the problem is probably a person who's against veganism simply because they don't want to give up the taste of meat. And if they can prevent other people from going vegan then they don't have to feel guilty about eat meat themselves. The truth is, Going vegan wasn't the problem. Not getting enough protein, zinc, B12, and iron was the problem. That's probably because you mostly ate mock meats to replace meat in your meals and kept eating similar meals to what you used to eat, since that's the easiest way to get used to eating vegan. But instead of "replacing" meat, you should be eating a variety of beans, seeds, nuts, grains, legumes, tempeh, soy, nutritional yeast, green vegetables, lentils, plant milks. Those things are the only things a human body needs to be the healthiest it can be. Also make sure to take B12 supplements. The truth about B12 is that it does not come from meat. It comes from the B12 supplements that the farmers feed the animals. it's way more effective and healthier to just take B12 yourself. My health greatly improved after going vegan. And my doctor was happily impressed to see my iron, zinc, and B12 skyrocket. I always used to be tired but I got so much more energy now, my skin cleared up and my hair actually got stronger and healthier. You don't need animal products. In fact it's better to stay away from them since they can cause a variety of diseases. Take a look at @vegainstrength on Instagram. And please don't just believe anything people tell you. Most people on this planet tell lies to feel better about themselves. I hope this message could be of help to you or any other person that wants to go vegan but doesn't because of lies and stereotypes. After your hair falling out I understand that you got a big scare, so why not try eating a variety of all the things I just named while still eating meat, and if you see that it actually works, you can eventually just leave the meat out. It's not about the diet. It's about what you decide to eat within your diet. Hope this will help, and have a good day ✌🏻🌈
elika poll I was being monitored by a series of naturopathic doctors who put me on the diet, some who were vegans themselves. Everything was accounted for in preparing my supplements, meals, etc... I spent thousands of dollars for the best suppliments, organic fair-trade food, vegan education, specialty doctors out of pocket... I did my due diligence. My body was choosing to create the hair loss. I lost all of my body hair first. I had no hair on my legs, arms, face, etc... then I lost my head hair. My hair stopped growing for three months straight too. I was asked if I was willing to have a hairless body until my body could adjust. I was ready to take the plunge and use a wig. Overtime I acquired two health conditions as a result of the diet. Believe me, I was shocked. I now eat fish and some chicken everyday to help reverse it. I am much healthier today than I have ever been in my life. My hair never grew back the same. It's like it got reprogramed. I'm still getting used to it. I used to be one of those vegans who sought to preach at people for all things defending veganisim but after my experience I am a lot more open-minded about the unique needs of the human body and that being vegan is not for everyone.

Most common are hair loss and starved body - not enough muscle mass. Normal people are not missing anything because they eat all the food groups we need to be healthy. •personal story• Ill just say I cured my autoimmune disease by eating Paleo which includes all kinds of meat too and I must say ive never been healthier in my life. •the end• Eat your meat babes! Damn, then I should be dead already, I am vegetarian for 10-11 years, I don't remember exactly when I refused to eat dead animals, but it was around 6 years old. I didn't even thought that I need something to replace meat until I've become a teenager and people around me started to mock me for my eat habits. My hair is fine, but I dyed them this summer (blue and orange colors after bleaching, it's damaging a bit) and they didn't really change because I'm adding vitamins to my shampoo and conditioners and etc.
I think something was wrong with your diet or you had problems before going vegan and extreme change of diet made it worse. I hope your hair problems are gone tho.
You were on your way to detoxing, and by going back to eating meat you stopped the detox. You would’ve had healthier hair if you stuck with your diet. But then again not all vegans are healthy!

This was so touching. My son is biracial and half Asian and deals with racism all the time at school. He is very insecure which makes me soo sad because he is so so beautiful inside and out and nobody deserves to be treated differently based on their race. This year he learned that his (now former) “best” friend was overtly racist. Not only towards him but towards ALL people of color. He was even antisemitic. I can’t imagine a 10 year old being so hateful but the comments my son comes home sharing that this boy has said are horrific. Anyway, I know I’ve said this a zillion times over the years in your comments, but I appreciate you so much and I am beyond thankful for your content. My hair was falling due to stress and anxiety. It was horrible, I thought I was balding, fortunately I became aware about my stress level and decided to rest more and calm down, two months later my hair stopped falling and now I can see new hair grow. Stress and anxiety are the worst. On another note, Kevin is so handsome.
Ok, Kevin was already HOT, but WOWZA, now he’s steaming!!! I wish I could have a chance to let you have your way with my crazy gray hairs Guy!! Or just to have you meet my son and encourage him as a hairstylist because he’s so talented but not working as a stylist. I feel like he’s not living up to his potential and wasting his talent!!
