There is no such thing as thug rap, and it has nothing to do with Hopsin either way. He’s good enough, but he’s nothing special. It is what it is. If anything, he’s exactly where he should be… neither overrated nor underrated, and he’s done very well for himself. 🤷🏾♂️

This was the song that made me turn my life around, i was going nowhere and doing stupid stuff while wasting my life partying and my friend showed this to me and something just hit me and i think it was Hopsin and the way he delivers the lyrics, it hit familiar territory.

I guess when he started putting on voices, or starts getting "too emotional" with the song. They said the same thing when he started yelling in IM7. They said the song was good, but Hopsin has a habit of "putting his heart on his sleeve." and letting his emotions get into the song. Which is understandable, in most cases. I didn't like IM7 at first because of that. But hear it enough times, you'll get used to it. But hearing it for the first time some get uncomfortable, or feel awkward when he starts. There was another point (I think in ill mind 3 or 4) when he does a LOT of alternate voices (especially females) and it sounds weird. especially of how long he does it at certain points.
