It was interesting to see how the personal shopping profession has changed and grown.Thumbs up to this vlog, Cassie. I used to do personal shopping back in the 1980s, but it was very different. Folks called me, told me what they needed in both fashion and non-fashion items, and then I got into my car and drove around both Los Angeles and sometimes Orange Counties sourcing items on weekends. Since I was usually out and about checking out what new items were in, it wasn't that difficult for me to source items for others. Plus, friends were calling me all the time asking about different items. I also both knew a lot of sales associates and was also on extended overseas vacations annually and seeing what fashions, etc were hot in different countries. I knew salespeople in countries overseas and while here at home was constantly being invited to fashion shows. I only did personal shopping & styling for fun for a year and part time as my regular demanding profession, as a professor, was my main focus. But, the organization and juggling skills of my main profession paid off while doing personal shopping/styling. When I was out looking for items for clients, I was always dressed up fashionably. I never did personal shopping using tech. I did it by instinct and knowing where items either were or would probably be. Plus, I had a very wide, eclectic range of fashion items, from mainstream to ethnic and about everything in between and at different price points. Some people even gave me their Christmas shopping lists as they didn't have time to run around looking for items, but those lists were usually for kitchen housewares or furniture items. I would be everywhere from high end stores to T.J. Maxx and More sourcing items and then folks would go to the stores and purchase them as I would put items on hold. Shopping was different back in the day. When clients went to pick items up, everything that they wanted was waiting on hold. Plus, at T.J. Maxx, there was layaway. Greetings from Los Angeles

This was SO GOOD! I'd love to see more fashion and shopping experts on your channel Cassie, it really helps lift the lid on luxury purchasing and how to go about it. Interesting how Jaidi said she only sources directly from the stores as it's the best way to guarantee authenticity. One thing I'd like to know is how personal shoppers are able to acquire pieces from several seasons ago. Does such a service exist, or will I be glued to my daily Vestiaire Collective updates and trawling 2nd hand luxury stores forevermore?
