In this game "infrared brightness" tracked by the missile seeker is said to be calculated as a temperature directly proportional to throttle, not the temperature displayed, meaning that a 100% throttle looks like a very hot engine to the seeker.

Technically, an All-aspect missile should be able to see you as it can destinguish the heat generated from moving through the air at high speed from the background heat. Still, i would also think that a flare would've decoy'd it when you were going slow with no engine.

i assume war thunder simply doesn't simulate heat correctly, if at all tbh. Or the numbers we see are not accurate... I'm no aerodynamics expert, but maybe the air friction around the wings warms your plane enough for the AAM to lock

Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. When you release an trap, you need to change the direction of flight - because the rockets are taught to distinguish traps, and if they are released, the rocket calculates the trajectory and flies simply from memory, to the place where you should end up. But their navigation is messed up. At least that's how it worked in ARMA 3

IRL there are missiles that can work either in IR mode OR photocontrast mode. Operator selects the mode that is more suitable for the situation. But i doubt contrast mode could work at night with cloudy background behind the plane.

Heat Seeking Missiles are not always Heat Seeking Aircraft Engines. what is sought is the heat from the "Heat of Body Plane" while flying. so shutting down the engine is also not effective to avoid heat-seeking missiles, moreover there are Infrared Missiles. But i dunno Gaijin add this Feature to Air-Battle & Heat Seeker missile..
Honestly, they really should just remove helis from grb or add a tank only gamemode, I have no idea how they expect tanks to fight back when helis get IRCM and countermeasures to stop spaa. You can shoot a radar guided round from the adats or xm975 at a ka52 and his ircm will send it off course, lav-ad ir missiles won't lock it and if you lazer rangefind it with a tank they have lws so they can dodge, they remove so much fun from the ground aspect of top-tier is insane. There is way more about them that makes them cancer but this comment is too long
If it was a non all aspect missile it wouldnt have tracked you. The airframe still has the ambient heat that the all apsect seeker is picking up even tho you have your engines off. But even then i dont think the airframe would be warm enough to give a good lock past 800m or so
What is indicated as engine temperature in WT is the exhaust temperature, not the temperature of the engine itself. Above all, the Z-19E is equipped with ECCM, so flares and other deceptive devices are meaningless.
