I bought that bike! It's run in now. Seeing the winter out in a heated garage and cant wait to put some uncorked miles on it this Spring! Love all the XRs.
I honestly like the 650L the way it is and I hope they keep making it. An updated bike on the 650R platform would be awesome but I dont see that happening, so I made my own. It was a work of passion but it came out better than anything honda could bring to the showroom. For my "needs"
Found an almost new 650r for sale, got it plated in my state, scoured the earth for rare discontinued parts. Made an almost exact replica of the 1x Baja race bike, and then lightened it by almost 20lbs. The bike is at 274lbs ready to ride, no fuel. 55whp on the dyno and a motor that should easily last 30k miles without major maint. Beats Hondas home grown crf450l in almost every measurable category. Everyone cant-wont do the same thing as me, but it's possible.

Haha I like to think you saw my comment and went looking . hope you can buy it to have in your museum it’s where it belongs must be the very last unused 650r . They are very rare here in uk 🇬🇧 and cost more than when they were new even for a wreck . So I had to buy mine from the USA 🇺🇸 had it imported from California all the way to my home in wales 🏴 uk . It’s was a wreck and was still covered in Baja dirt I’ve never been to USA but I have touch the dirt 😊. If you get time you can see it on my channel . if it wasn’t for 🇺🇸 I would not be able to get one . Xrs have been a big part of my life, slowly been buying back all the models I sold when I was young and foolish . God bless OLD DIRT BIKES .

Honda xr 650r and UB 40 music in the background damn nothing better. Where I live we have a lot of Japan made xrs from the 90's I see like everyday on the streets the 250, 400, 600 and 650r but never seen a brand new one like that. Also the 650r is somethin else can't compare the 650l to the r worlds apart.
I had a '03 XR650R that was street plated, did a super motard upgrade on it w/17" alloy rims, huge front rotor, and did a complete rejet on the carb to HRC spec, along with a Big Gun exhaust header and a stock factory muffler w/HRC baffle in it. I also put a 39 tooth sprocket on the back and one tooth more on the countershaft, gave the bike a 110+ top end and was very tractable on the street and a blast to ride on a mountain road! Sportbikes had no chance on a tight technical road against this and other motarded off-road type bikes. Just don't stall it in traffic or you could get run over! Sold the bike a couple years later for more than I'd paid for it, new owner was jazzed when he test drove it. It was a complete gas to ride!
My 2007 xr650R was still in the crate until 2014 according to the guy I bought it from. It was the cleanest used one that I had seen and I was looking for months. As soon as I saw it there was no way I was going to pass it up.
Sweet xr650 r! I just purchased a one owner 1991 suzuki Dr 650 r, starts first or second kick,man it sounds bad ass with a straight through pipe! I swear i can see the valves when i look through the pipe😀 gotta love those 650 dual sports!
managed to pick my 02 up from a farmer in illinois. He was the original owner and only rode it around his farm. It only had 3k miles on it. Have the shipping manifest, the original manual, all the maintenance paperwork
Got to remember that a lot of the big names like Honda Suzuki Kawasaki etc this isn't a main thing for them they make their main money with cars construction engines generator engines so they don't honestly really care at this point about dirt bikes which is sad

1988 I had Honda MT50 red and white with white paris dakar gastank. My girlfrend later bought one too. A frend had the MB50 a black one. 2 other frends had an white red Honda MTX, very expensive for an 19 year old boy. I loved it, we all loved them.
None of the current dirt bikes/dual sport motorcycles creates in me desire to have it like this amazing XR650R. Just look at this beauty. Strong frame, powerful engine, retro design. His other one was his rider but it was very low k”s and almost new. He bought mine to ride. Why on earth did they stop making these. Awesome machines.
Had that exact beast! I flooded it once on a hot day when I dumped down a steep hill and nearly died trying to clear it and restart it. Soon traded for a crf250x with electric start😂

There was one of these for sale on FB marketplace here in my area, Harrisburg, PA. It wasn't brand new but it was mint and he had supermoto wheels on it looking sick.
I sure miss mine. It was a beast but it would climb anything around. Jeepers would look at me like I lost my mind when I said I was going to climb their hill. Was a hold my beer moment. Love that bike!!
I always wanted one, when I had the chance to buy one I went in to my local shop here on the island of Maui, HI but was told they stopped making those bikes. So I settled with the 650L and just mod the hell of it to shave weight and add some pony's

I'm 5' 6 " and ride my step dad's xr 650r when ever I get the chance, bike hauls ass , especially west desert in Utah, but my bread and butter is my 95 xr 600 , desert rides, right single tracks in the woods, these xrs will go anywhere and climb any hill
Best bike ever my buddy has one with a few mods it was untouchable 450s 500s didn't matter on a flat out race you couldn't touch it I loved it in the trails and woods probably road it more then he did

Got a 05 XR 400r, I've had a 08 CRF 450r loved it but my XR keeps up with most or not all 450 I ride with I actually can go certain terrain that most 450 have to toque out on I roll over most debre with ease wheelies in every gear with smoothness and ease love the modern crf 450s but I'm a XR guy till the casket bad ass 650r dream bike bro #XR # KAPLAN AMERICA # long live the big red pig

Hi Ken would you believe I’ve owned almost 70 Xr650r’s including factory bikes Dakar Honda factory bikes too. Supermoto Championship winning 650s. I still own quite a few. They are road legal here in England and Europe but come with full road equipment Speedo brake lights turn signals high/ low headlight even a side light. That’s another superb find. I wish you guys was closer. I think I will make the pilgrimage. At some point. Or I’ll probably see you guys at the TT or Farleigh castle. When the world stops being mad. Take care from the U.K.

The XR series are tanks. I miss my xr200 I had it was a tank as well. I love XR's I seen a 400 ex with xr650 engine on it. An it was a beast.

Sold 650s all over the world They are a monster of a bike I have a large collection of two stroke bikes so I understand the love of 70s two strokes. More than most. Hey I’ve still got my 125 I i raced when I was 14. I’ve also got every other bike on the Kawasaki brochure made that year. It’s just what we do. Isn’t it
