Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), general manager of the Oakland A's, one day has an epiphany: Baseball's conventional wisdom is all wrong. Faced with a tight budget, Beane must reinvent his team by outsmarting the richer ball clubs. Joining forces with Ivy League graduate Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), Beane prepares to challenge old-school traditions. He recruits bargain-bin players whom the scouts have labeled as flawed, but have game-winning potential. Based on the book by Michael Lewis.

Being traded isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes you get traded to a winning team. The hard part is mainly the moving and whatnot which can uproot your life if you have a family.

This movie is just brilliant❤️❤️ it’s got the emotions and the feels and I love that it’s based on a true story and I think that Brad Pitt’s performance as Billy Beane was amazing same goes for Jonah Hill and rest of this amazing cast so good 😊. Also I love the song that that his daughter writes for him at end ❤️ so happy for the reaction Tim and thank you 😊😁👍

Yeah..look up the San Francisco Giants who won the 2010, 2012 and 2014 World Series. They had no superstars, their payroll ranged from 15th to only 10th out of 30 teams, but had a to be Hall of Fame manager in Bruce Bochy (who won with the Rangers this year ignoring these metrics and going on experience). We had team chemistry. Players that played for the others on the team, not themselves. This stat system cannot be used to change the game-it can add info to make decisions, but the LA Dodgers lost 2 years ago by relying on these metrics alone, by pulling the starting pitcher out who was throwing a shutout because stats said the bullpen would be better..it wasnt.

yeah, I became a BIG Bruce Bochy fan when he was San Diego's manager! everywhere he has gone, he proved himself to be a WINNER. I knew he was going to win in Texas and I was hoping the Rangers would get into the World Series.

The A's 20-game win streak was beaten in 2017 by Cleveland, who won 22 straight. The Tampa Bay Rays have tried their best to replicate something similar to the A's strategy, and they've made it to the World Series twice (2008, 2020), but they've yet to win it. Most of the big-market teams are starting to run away with it. The Dodgers and Yankees will always attract the big guys while the small-market guys are fighting for scraps.

This movie is so good and phenomenal 😊🤗😁🤝
    Chef's kiss, mwah
Idea crossover: Moneyball Air Coach Carter
A legend Michael Jordan himself decided to retire from basketball and teaching the youth to overcome fears and discipline, leading them to a new chapter and helping brad pitt character to success and helping the baseball budget situation and Coach Carter himself is the ceo of nike and finish line and his son is on the way to NBA going professionally and must overcome his fear of rejection betrayal and losses
Movie rating: Rated R (sports drama smoking drinking drugs and intense violence)
    Sports movie drama
Post credit: Billy Beanie accepts henry offer and takes the job very well and gets a tap on the shoulder by the legend/goat basketball player michael jordan
    Billy Beanie: Michael Jordan?!!
Michael Jordan himself is cut away from the scene: hey billy nice to meet you, and i want to give you a few million dollars for your troubles and the baseball budget situation (pulls out the check and gives it to billy beanie)
Billy: Thanks. i really appreciate it 🙏 🙌
Michael Jordan: remember coach carter is the ceo of nike and finish line after the job offer, and so i help him with it, and so god bless u sir 🙏 🙌
Billy is nearly about to cry and fight tears: how sweet of you
Michael Jordan: I'm your new neighbor, by the way, and see u soon, buddy (leaves the nike building outlet)
Billy, almost in tears that he meets the legend, aka goat Michael jordan
    Peter: Is that Michael jordan?!!!!
Billy: Yes, the goat himself 😊😊😊
Peter gets excited: i wanna autograph from him!!!!!
Scott: Oh no, he got security with him 😮😮😅😅
Peter starts running, and the bystanders and customers look at him, and Michael Jordan sees him and says, "Oh boy."
Sonny: he got Michael Jordan shoes and pictures and more
Peter gets stopped by mall outlet guards, and they calm him down . He tries to hug him, and Michael Jordan politely declines him
Peter: No mr jordan i wanna get an autograph!!!
Michael jordan bodyguard: Calm down, buddy
Phil: This is awkward. i would never do this in public 😳 😅
Rob: Yeah, he loves him so much 😮😮😮
David: sports obsessed fan vibes from him
    George: he needs help
    Howard: he needs some medication
    They laugh loudly
Deloris: they love my son 💙 (laughs)

Such a good ending. "I made one decision in my life based on money and I swore I'd never do it again.
Sure, no 12.5 mil pay rate, but he kept going. He did well for himself. He won through victory and loss, much like anyone else that makes tough plays in life.
I'd highly recommend watching "Moneyball scenes compared to TV broadcast and "Moneyball: Baseball Truth or Hollywood Fiction?" Both on youtube.
I also liked an interview with IRL Scott Hatteberg where he talked about whether or not they came to his house in reality to extend the offer and contract (spoiler alert; they didnt come to his house lol)
Last bit; Jeremy Giambi actually passed away in 2022. 😢 Big bummer when I read that

The single biggest flaw in this movie, and the book, is that it completely ignores the contributions of the starting pitching staff, 3 of whom would win Cy Young Awards as the best pitcher of the year, in their leagues, and none of them came from Moneyball; they were all A's draft choices, not the "Island of Misfit Toys" players shown in this thing.

    • @DrewD55
      @DrewD55 8 месяцев назад

In thinking on it, it also ignores that Miguel Tejada , also a draft choice, played shortstop: he won a Most Valuable Player award for the season documented by the movie...

Most of the diference in budget comes from TV revenues. The Yankees TV deal was over $1 billion at the time while the A's deal was less than $50 million. That figure you sw at thes trat of the movie the PAYROLL only. The Yankees consistently have individual players who earn more than entire teams.

This video was great shot selection. But it needs more production design, film editing, and cinematography lessons. That is why people watch movie reactions, to learn more about movies, their authentaciousness behind the scenes, about Rembrandt lighting, what film stock was used to create certain looks, how the music cues tell you how to feel and how to judge certain people. Editing and lighting and sound are essential so that the physical aspects call forth the emotion that is forever within a trueness of itself that doesn't have to discover the authentics inside why certain scenarios are employful.

The flaw and reason why they lost in play offs is because they relied on statistics over time. Part of their statistics is that they are not 100% guarantee. In sports and life as well it only takes 1 day, 1 game to show its not 100% going to happen. Its part of the reason sports are watched and love because potentially any team or anyone could win even if the statistic/odds say they shouldn't.

This is a great movie. However it wasn't a true to life movie. That Oakland team had the MVP of the league Miguel Tejada their shortstop who wasn't even mentioned in the movie. That team had the Cy Young award winner Barry Zito. Again not mentioned in the movie. That team also had 2 other pitchers who were top pitchers in the league. Tim Hudson and Marl Mulder. Again neither mentioned in the movie. The rookie who they said might win rookie of the year who they traded, Pena hit a 218 that year and was 7th in the leagues rookie of the year voting. This was an excellent movie but aside from how good they did with very little many the movie lied to the viewer. They made this team sound like an underdog team doing it with "on the cheap" players. The truth was this was a very talented team not a team doing it with magic and mirrors.
