That brings back memories. Way back in 1972 I bought a series 2 drophead in powder blue 30000 miles. I paid £1300 for it. 2 years later I sold it to a friend for £1300 for the deposit on my 1st house. Must be worth a fortune now if still around. Thanks for the video. Lovely car. Steve.
My Mum had same car Series 1 4-2 Roadster Old English White with original factory hardtop drove it everywhere shopping etc she was well known flying around in it back then I was only a 13 year old kid and she could manage it quite well remember everyone use to steer at her all the time 😂😂 also I think that drew the attention. Also, she was a beautiful black lady. RIP Mum xx
@sportscarstory I found you via another site I understand you also own the countach replica that seems to have suffered at the hands of previous "specialist" 🤣
@@sportscarstory yes an early one, so still s1 features, toggles, covered lamps, but twin fans, I also had a s2 2+2 at that time as well. Your restoration is amazing.
Recently brought a shell and some bits for £700, aspirations of a rebuild, but too much work. So quick flip, just need a few more sales until I can keep one.👍
That’s how I started! In fact I started with a Triple C Challenger in the 90’s. I flipped a few other cars before I was able to do my first e type. Keep going, you’ll get there. Subscribe to see my other projects coming along.
Was that TR6 coincidence ? So do your friends call you John Prescott 😅 .....(2 of the best though ! ) l must admit the coupe is my favourite . I have a '69 TR6 and a '66 2+2 . Both being restored by myself . Having been a panelbeater(crash repair ) for nearly 54 years l am fortunate that l can do all the metalwork, paintwork an trimwork myself . I don't need to tell YOU how much money that saves !!! The tip l give to buyers is get the best one you can . It saves you a fortune !!!! Thanks for sharing
Yes that was a coincidence! We couldn’t believe it at the time. I love TR6’s too. I’m just a bit small for them. Yes you’re right to buy the best you can. I was just making the point that if you give it to Carl, he’s going to go for it. Thanks for watching. Subscribe to see my coupe next.
Lovely. Funny enough I have a TR6 and an E-type. Both great cars. The E is a great touring car. Been over the Alps four times. The TR6 is perfect for blatting around the country lanes in Dorset where I live.
Yes almost another project, but I just had a decent alpine thrown in for now - same as the one on my coupe so I knew how it works. Subscribe to see that car. I think I’ll do a video of an upgrade to an age appropriate radio with new gubbins at some point. Thanks for watching!
Congrats on a beautiful car. Love to see them driven. I am a lucky custodian of a 68 coupe, and drive it whenever our western Canadian weather allows. Lots of smiles and thumbs up from all I meet. Also have a color matching 18 F type R coupe. Both great cars! Cheers, and keep up with the videos!
@@sportscarstory I have the 5 and it a glorious engine. Been thinking of trading our old Buick SUV for an F Pace SVR as I just love that 5 Litre supercharged engine. Before they go all electric. I farm and electric makes no sense out here on the prairies.
It's great except for one glaring issue. People bring rhd English cars to the US and leave them rhd, as the factory intended. Why would you convert a lhd drive US car, destroying its original build and wasting a significant amount of money in the process?
Good question! I thought long and hard about converting it to RHD. In the end I decided to do it, because 1) it’s much easier to use it in the UK 2) it’s a cheap and easy conversion 3)The kit costs £5k either way, so it easy to convert back in the future 4) As I was doing it as a part of the build there was no labour cost. 5) There’s far more LHD cars than RHD in the world. But yes it does change the originality. If it was a rare car, I definitely wouldn’t do it.
Oh, & I forgot to say. It’s much harder driving a car in the UK with the wheel on the wrong side, because we have to do far more overtaking manoeuvres on small B roads.
Great job. I've had a S1 4.2 for 25 years. Same colour, but a FHC. Could never sell it. A wonderful thing
Sounds lovely. Is yours an official Jaguar colour?
Best policy, I sold mine for 17k in 2011 and it was a big mistake.
A wonderful example of such an iconic car. Congratulations!
Thankyou so much! It really is a gorgeous car. I wanted to show the world just how nice it is.
Pete Wiltshire is a national treasure. Love these videos and want more!

Steve.
Thanks Steve. The memories of having your powder blue e type are what it’s really about - & house prices have done pretty well too!
Just found your channel and have subscribed. Look forward to your next instalments. Beautiful car. And thanks.
I appreciate it! Thankyou!

Yes the LP400 replica is one of mine. Steve @ DIY Tuners is now struggling with that! I’ll get around to featuring it at some point too.
@sportscarstory Steve inspires confidence doesn't he and seems to be passionate about the details. Hopefully it will come together pretty soon.
Wonderful jag.you have great taste in cars!
Thank you !
Thank you we finally get to witness gear shifting operation.
No problem! Will try and show more gear shifting in future.
A fine example of an E Type Jaguar young man!
Thankyou I appreciate the encouragement! Subscribe & turn on your notifications as there’s plenty more videos coming through.
Brilliant, I had a 67 coupe in the late 2000s.
Was that a series 1.5?

Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thankyou! Check out the 12 differences between a 3.8 and a 4.2 video as there’s many more shots of it.
What a project!
Thankyou!

Hi THATS a beautiful car. How much was the body and paint work.
I don’t want to go into detail, but a lot cheaper in Yorkshire than down South.
What a gorgeous car and restoration but please find a 'modern period radio' - that just looks wrong

@@randalhuseby I appreciate your reply! I’m thinking of buying an F type - either a 5.0 or a manual 3.0. Which would you go for?

Is that a moss gearbox.?
No, the 4.2 had the then new full synchro 4 speed gearbox, which was way more modern, & has a lovely change.
0:42 looks like some very short shifting.
Hmmm interesting. I think I need to drive a 5.0 F type …

I see your point. It makes driving the car there more difficult and enjoying it is a top priority.
You Tube is always distracting me.
Me too!
