Great video as always. You make them really enjoyable to watch. Just a suggestion, the riffing out low pitched stuff is definitely cool, even in my 60s I dig that stuff (hay I'm a metal head) but also still have an interest in old school stuff like Priest, Maiden, etc. It would be nice to here the amps where you just strum some chords, root/5th, root 3rd( major and minor)7ths etc and just let them ring to really here the texture of the gain/tone.
Have been limiting time with gear for a good while as the "real life" comes in the way sometimes. This is the only show I can still watch for entertainment nowadays.
At 09:29 The "inconsistency" that is exactly why I sold my Kemper. I was on their forum and was trying to get answers about this with most thinking I was crazy. The owner even replied. His answer was that I needed to use the Kemper DI. My amps were EL34 Marshall types from plexi to DSLs. Nice to finally hear somebody else confirm that I was in fact not crazy. I have since moved on. I ended up getting a Fractal Axe Fx III and sold the Kemper. I did pick up a Tonex and I agree, it profiles perfectly, although very time consuming, every time.
Thanks for commenting. yeah, every time I say something like this to other profile guys, they deny it and tell me I'm doing something wrong LOL. I've been doing this for a long time now and I can definitely tell you it's very inconsistent. A lot of guys will put an EQ in the loop to fix some of the inconsistency issues but I don't want to have to do that to make profiles come out the way they should. Besides that, anytime you throw an EQ in the loop of an amplifier, you just changed the voicing of the amplifier
Speaking of Magnatone, they just released the Baby M-80 supposedly developed with Billy Gibbons although it is not a signature amp. It lists as follows: The Baby M-80 will be available from January in a 1×10” combo and head and there’s also a matching 1×10” speaker cabinet. It’s priced at $1,999 for the combo, $1,899 for the head and $1,149 for the cabinet. SweetWater has it priced at $1,849,$1,699 and $1,149. Still kind of steep although I don’t know what they cost to make but $1,149 for a 1x10 cabinet seems ridiculous.
Adding to the EVH comment. When Vh came out with a new album, us guitar players would say "wtf was that" . From eruption, Spanish fly, cathedral, mean street, etc, etc. Slash, not so much.
Did you see Christoph's latest interview? The Player model will be upgraded to full big brother Kemper specs with, in other words, all FX, etc, etc with paid updates. There will be free updates as well but a full upgrade/update will be something we'll pay for. Which is awesome and brilliant.
Looks like the profile player is $700 and used Kemper head/rack are selling for around $900. Anyone think it would be better to buy a used head to get more features?
On your opinion regarding Slash's amp. For me another such amp is hte Lerxst. Alex Lifeson of Rush signature amp. Is Lifeson a virtuoso? Well, not quite, but I'd rank him a few thousand bonus points above Slash. HOWEVER. $3500 for just the head?? I don't think I bothered checking out the cab. It's over-sized though. But forget about it! It's a basic Marshall clone with maybe a couple twists. I'd rather go after the Dean Markley he used on Farewell To Kings.
@@ShreddingFinn I suppose that's part of it. I think Alex can get more expressive with the whammy like tricks. Solos like Jacob's Ladder and Natural Science.
You ever heard the story about Nuno Bettencourt getting to play through Eddies rig? Nuno tried for years to get Eddies tone. But he never could. One day he got invited to Eddies private studio. Eddie let Nuno play through his rig. Nuno was excited to finally be able to sound like Eddie. Nuno played through Eddies rig, and was kinda disappointed. Because he did not sound like Eddie, even when he played on Eddies rig! Nuno said he just sounded like himself. Let this be a lesson to all you kids out there: "gear" will not make you sound like your favorite player!
everything is expensive, prices just jump up out of nowhere. not sure if its because parts are becoming more expensive, but i doubt the increase of parts prices justify the increase of amps. wasnt the jp2c around 2900 on launch? i thought i seen somewhere it was 2700 in 2021. im not saying the magnatone is by any margin better than the jubilee, but these companies will deffinatley come out with a new whatever making a cheaper quality or just a simple rebrand and say its the new model and charge more for giving less. That was a great speech on eddie being a great example towards others. ill have a whiskey over that.
I only use it for live work. Luckily, nobody has stolen it so far. Mainly because they have no idea what it is where I live . But a tube amp, for sure, is more likely. Plus, it sounds good, live, and it's compact.
Hey Paul, Merry Christmas. thanks for commenting. yeah that's too bad, I think that's a huge oversight on their part. hopefully they can remedy that in an update

I always thought of Slash as a re-hashed 80s version of Joe Perry.

He just didn't pull out his Dokken riffs this time. Those come up a lot lately.

Yes Petrucci definitely uses boost pedal. I asked him about it at a meet and greet around 10 years ago.
I knew he was one of the good guys LOL

Yes,No, and Yes. Have you ever shot out a profile against synergy? For example, the engl savage profile to the savage synergy module.
Good question. I've never shot those 2 out as of yet.
