- The nominees are out for this year’s Golden Melody Awards. Taiwanese musician Faith Yang has bagged eight nominations in total, the most out of any artist. Meanwhile Singaporean Mandopop singer JJ Lin is in the running to win a third award for Best Male Singer in Mandarin. But competition is stiff.
In the Best New Artist category is Rhydian Vaughan, who has branched out from his career as an actor with his first solo album. The actor says he’s thankful for the recognition, regardless of whether he ends up winning the award or not. This year, more than 20,000 works were considered for the awards; the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in late June.
