@@MartyMcfly720 that makes sense. I personally love believe but it's just personal preference. Revival definitely had me questioning what route em was going.
Almost 4 years after the album was released and still here watching Stevie’s reaction. I wish that NF diss was brought up more, such a clever shot that was overlooked by many.
I don't think it was a diss so much as just a clever way to reference the comparisons that were buzzing, and still asserting his dominance over another white rapper. Its an overlooked bar though no doubt
mad overlooked although imo not a diss but a clever bar pointing out that people want him to go back to being a version of himself that other rappers try to copy and cant even compare to his level of success even when emulating him
Eminem is the lyrical king. Anyone talking shit just gives him more fuel for another fire. I like a lot of different genres and artists that have great lyrics, but none touch the level he's on. He's the entendre and bar king. I've listened to older stuff when he was younger and stuff that I thought was a double was actually a triple or quad entendre not counting it relaying to the previous or next lines at the same time. I don't know, man. I've been trying to find people from any genre that cut so deep like he does, but even poets and authors, etc don't compare overall. This comment is a lot lop-sided since it's to an Em song and that's why. If we were talking playwrights or whatever then, no, not the same and he would probably fail at classics like Shakespeare or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he could do a modern rewrite of that and make it really good.
@donaldharris5028 Twista ia very good, but Eminem has the thing the way he changes up his voice to be a different person/character and it just hits SOOOO HARD,...it's unmatched
The people who are commenting all the stuff about you missing bars are people who have listened to the song hundreds of times and checked every line in Genius, don't be too stressed about missing things on the first listen
Revival was slept on because it was one of the realist albums he put out. He out his whole heart into that shit spitting real life facts. And people now adays only wanna play shit that can be bumped in clubs and make the booty shake. That album completely went against anything that was popping at the time. So people just hated it before listening to it. Then they heard real life issues instead of a sick ass beat and a wack hook and simple lines.
True. Some are saying they want what he did 20+ years ago. He's grown up and has had different life experiences over the years so that will be expressed. The only people who want him still talking about what he talked about at 23 yrs old are the ones who never matured and living the same life they did at 23, but if he hadn't evolved in life or music, there would be something wrong with him.
I feel like there should be an IQ prerequisite before being able to react to or give opinions about Revival publicly. If your IQ is isn't at least in triple digits, you shouldn't be able to share your dumbass opinions about it because 99% of the bars likely went right over your head. All of his albums since Recovery are too complex for idiotic fair-weather pop-rap fans to understand. If you're focused on beats and hooks while listening to Eminem, you're missing the point entirely.
I think it was how each song was constructed. Features were questionable..beats were uhhh weird. Bars were him spitting facts ! BUT felt watered down. I agree with the timing in which it came out. All the bullshit people was listening to , his music they attacked it. But it wasn't the best put together in my opinion. But I respect the message if that makes sense.
@@Donyerky I wish more people used their brains when sharing criticisms of the album like you just did. Everything you said makes sense. That's valid criticism.

It is really wild. Look back at the Eminem from The Slim Shady LP. And look, I loved that album. Still do. But today's Eminem is an entirely different rapper. They may as well be different human beings altogether (today's Eminem and the Eminem of the SSLP). Today's Eminem, from a technical standpoint, is light years advanced technically from that Eminem.

I got this album when it came out and loved it!! He used so many different flows in just this song. That shit is crazy! But I feel like that was part of his point... showing these new rappers that they can do more than just the same ol' cadence everyone is rewashing. Anywho, good job, Stevie. You're my favorite for breaking down the bars!
Yea Valium def isn't a stimulant. It's an anxiety med. Comparable to xanax. And I think the bar was 1) a homophone for volume 2) just a drug reference because he used to addicted to them and 3) like turn the Valium up so the mumblers sit down and stop making a mockery of hip-hop
Valium is essentially a chill pill, so turning it up is increasing the dosage and / or increasing the number of peeps who need to take it. And yes it also alluding to Volume .
@@dfuzesavetf2147 in the interview with Sway when he talks about Kamikaze, he mentions he's constantly going down the RUclips black hole and finds all kinds of random videos about him.
Holy shit, I never caught that one! That's why I love these reactions and also the comment sections because as much as I feel like I catch a majority of Em's (and others) bars, other people catch shit that completely went over my head and it makes me appreciate the songs that much more.
I think the cup of tea line is also a play on the chorus in “Stan”.... where she says “my teas gone cold”. ... also number #2 line... number 2 💩 and take a #2 as in a pencil ✏️
@@joshuaconley5853 No, you are right on this, The original song was called Thankyou by Dido who plays Stanley's girlfriend in the video. When Eminem heard the song, he got in touch with her and asked her if he could use it for Stan. Hence he switched a very romantic song into a dark obsessive.
Sergiy Angel it also could mean his magazine is so huge it could take the Staples center out and everyone in it (supposedly with it being filled with his enemies). In case for people don’t know the Staples center is one of the most popular basketball arenas. It’s in LA
@@Gunit867899 There's a short Swayze line in Killshot that has at least 5+ layers to it (That's all I figured out so far - It's probably even deeper) 😂😂😂
Bro, I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you putting the actual track in HD in the video instead of recording a speaker playing in the background. After trying like 10 videos, yours was the first without having the track sounding like garbage in the background. You got a follower. Not just for that, but that is a big plus.
It also means that he's goin back to full shady mode, hence this was his first song in the album and he tends to mention the use of drugs when he refers to his "old-self"
What people have overlooked on the Valium bar is the song is called The Ringer. A side of effect of Valium withdrawal is tinnitus or ringing in the ear. All that noise from other rappers is just it noise/ringing obnoxious noise
“Cup of tea”means that something is not that You really like. Next bar is about that drug that other rappers drink (syrup and lean).maybe your cup of tea is rap from drugged rappers:) that’s what I think
Em is a genius with his wordplay especially with “I'm gonna crumble you and I'll take a number two And dump on you, if you ain't Joyner If you ain't Kendrick or Cole or Sean, then you're a goner” I mean he is saying he will destroy you with a number two pencil or take a shit on you lol. Just dope wordplay and 🔥 lyrics to go along with the entire track so much people missed.
I also saw a comment by Zikloxy on the LawTwins' reaction the stated "I'll take a number two" could connect to "I guess when you walk into BK you expect a Whopper" which is a #2 "You can order a quarter pounder when you go to McDonald's" which is also a #2.
I also saw it as a whole generational call out, since number 2 pencils are most like something theyre not using, therefore marking a visible shift in the new ways of the ones who disregard the old ones and even the ones who just are not familiar.
Please dont get on my guy Shaq about standing up and wilding out when he hears a fire bar. You and Shaq are my favorite reactors keep grinding big man!
The shit Shaq do is stuff I can imagine someone would legit kinda just feel like doing cus they are excited and are one camera obvioussssly if he just sat there and reacted in his head like we all do that’s be a lame ass video
With your comment on “em makes everyone nervous” reminds me of an old interview from The Game where he was talking bout his beef with 50 n Dre n he goes “you don’t wanna mess with the white dude”
@King Rock id think complimenting Em would get him more clout and positive clout bc of how large Ems fanbase is. Unless hes hoping for a name drop from him inna diss for those 15 mins fame
“Turn down for what, I ain’t loud enough Nah, turn the Valium up” I saw it as a double entendre like Em usually does with his bars. Might not be referenced in that verse but he does mention “I should eat a pill” referencing how people want him to go back to “Slim Shady”. “Do you know why Dre’s record was so successful? He’s rapping about big screen TV’s, blunts, 40’s and bitches. You’re rapping about homosexuals and Vicodin.” - Steve Berman (skit) MMLP Also interesting that there’s no chorus at all in this song. Unconventional cadence, the beats he raps to, this is one of those unique and highly slept on songs by him.
Stevie I absolutely love your videos. When you go over his songs you actually pick up what he is meaning and I respect that soo damn much. Mostly everyone I know doesn’t like him and take his lyrics the wrong way.
Another thing about his “Stan” line: He says, “Maybe Stan just isn’t your cup ‘a tea (Get it?)” cause in “Stan” the song, Dido is singing, “My tea’s gone cold I’m wonderin why I got outta bed at all.” He likes to use a lot of stuff from his old songs as references.
U know it's crazy there's not more people that actually listen to the words and shit in songs it's a love and passion for music 💯% keep on keeping it real brother.
Slim Brady Also why would he say (get it) after that bar. Kind of sad he feels the need to spell shit out sometimes. Like on darkness “Round after round I’m getting loaded, that’s a lot of shots huh? (Double entendre) what’s funny is entendre rhymes with “shots huh” not a perfect rhyme but...
The valium line is because valium is a sedative hence it would make someone's mouth shut 🔥 bar bro it's a double entendre valium up to sedate them volume up so you can't hear them
I want him to to a revival whole album review. By far a whole beast if you truly understand it. In a way better than Marshall Matters LP in terms of substance.
The lyrics are good in Revival, the production, hooks and features are bad. It's just mixed bad, rick rubbin is doing some rock/pop/rap beats eith a pop singer feature. Do you see were im gettin at? It's less a rap album and more of just a bad mixture, the album does have like 3 ok songs. Rap fans don't dig this, like DEHH, and many of em's own fans. Good thing Lil Wayne dropped Dedication 6, using mumble rappers beats and actually rapping (Bank Account)
16:40 the word is volume (Valium) indeed , because earlier in the song he said he might pop a pill. Go back to his old ways, when he was addicted to pills. It makes sense, Stevie.
Yesssss....came here for this reason!! “Turn down for what” (song about clubbing/drinking/drugs etc.) “I ain’t loud enough” (loud = weed) “Turn the valium up cause Idk how I’m gonna get your mouths to shut” (Valium = calms/increases drowsiness which in turn closes your mouths!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
The back side of Valium... Chill out man, take a valium. Sit down and chill, take some more valium, the first wasnt enough because I dont know how else to get you to shut up.
It’s not criticism from us Stevie, it’s all love! That being said, I really hope you do more tracks from Kamikaze - all are🔥 edit: 16:18 It is indeed Valium (a downer) and volume when he says, “turn down for what??”

When that dropped I started to question if em had it anymore but all my faith was restored with kamikaze. And now I can appreciate revival more especially songs like untouchable in these times
@@MartyMcfly720 that makes sense. I personally love believe but it's just personal preference. Revival definitely had me questioning what route em was going.
After giving it some time and going back to give it another go, the back half of Revival won over my appreciation for the album
Its an overlooked bar though no doubt
mad overlooked although imo not a diss but a clever bar pointing out that people want him to go back to being a version of himself that other rappers try to copy and cant even compare to his level of success even when emulating him
I like how you re one of the few to acknowledge that EM is getting much better with age. Keep up the good reactions !!

Eminem is also a double entendre God..#godofrap2020
He should really do down in history as one of the greatest writers alongside Poe and Shakespeare and whoever else is famous for writing.
Aesop Rock is way more intricate with lyrics. Not saying one is better than the other
This is a dope comment 🙏
Eminem and fire don't make sense to be in the same sentence, a fire needs air to stay "alive" and em don't even breathe xD
Eminem's Advanced Algorithm as a Rhythmical Lyricist is Unmatched starting 0 to God Mode within a couple versus 😂

The people who are commenting all the stuff about you missing bars are people who have listened to the song hundreds of times and checked every line in Genius, don't be too stressed about missing things on the first listen
We are just explaining and uncovering the genius behind every line. Nobody is blaming him
Staples line is actually a TRIPLE, he was talkin bout vince staples
Yessir
Was just about to post this lol
Yeah, he missed that one
Deym!😰
OH BABY A TRIPLE
This track was mainly aimed at the ppl who critiqued "Revival"
Kamikaze was mainly for the critiques n mumble rappers
Em saved the rap game again with kamikaze
Hits like Lucky you, Fall, Venom, The Ringer and even Not alike make this a classic album for me.
It was at Joe budden. Someone who heavily criticized him but also destroyed slaughterhouse.
This is around the time I started watching my boy Stevie. Every now and then I come back to this video and pay respect.
The masses have been waiting for this one Mr. Knight
Oh yea i really wanted this!!! He is really good
Revival was slept on because it was one of the realist albums he put out.
Facts bro
He was pushing the envelope creatively and not everything was executed as well as the genius level shit he did with the last 2 tracks, Castle and Arose. So I do see your point. That's valid criticism.
Stevie if ever u read this just kmow that music brings out peoples emotions and basically talks to their soul. If I hear an amazing Eminem line it gives me goosebumps. Your dissections are literally making that emotional feeling come to fruition by breaking down these impossible bars. Your really good at it. Please keep it up man

Anywho, good job, Stevie. You're my favorite for breaking down the bars!
the whole album should've been called "The Rap Tutorial"
Turn down.. its a double. Valium is classified as a "downer" as in calms you down
also being “loud” is a weed reference, but maybe I’m reaching
It just seams he pronounced it Valium and not volume so...
Shea Taylor no the lyric is valium lol
Yup, first time seein Stevie not gettin a bar o_O
Dang !!
"turn the Valium up to get their mouths to shut" thats why it's Valium. So they can go to sleep and shut up.
I haven't heard anyone else catch that bar 🤣
Daaaaaamn okay, it slid on me.
@Neo Benito its a muscle relaxer green little circle pill, same affect as somas, you take 5-8 and u drunk and chilled lol

Holy shit, I never caught that one! That's why I love these reactions and also the comment sections because as much as I feel like I catch a majority of Em's (and others) bars, other people catch shit that completely went over my head and it makes me appreciate the songs that much more.
For years I have been listening to eminem songs but iam getting these bars here on reaction videosand iam 25 now🤣
The honesty and clear breakdown starting at about 13:20 or so is why I literally seek out your videos... I hope you keep doing these, man...
You’re in the top five of bar breakdowns. Been waiting on this one.
I think the cup of tea line is also a play on the chorus in “Stan”.... where she says “my teas gone cold”. ... also number #2 line... number 2 💩 and take a #2 as in a pencil ✏️
For the longest time I thought it was "tears stone cold". But damn you might be right.
JLAW904 yea pretty sure it’s my teas gone cold I’m wondering why I got out of bed at all ... but I’ve been wrong once or a lot in my life so....
hoping he reacts to Stan at some point. See what he thinks of the story telling
“Maybe Stan isn’t your cup of tea” could also be taken as a reference to the chorus of Stan where Dido says “My tea’s gone cold”
It is
Nice catch
If you notice he says (Get it?) it is exactly the reference.
Can anybody examples what happend with Dido
Seriously, started watching these videos and "No Life Shaq" and have been losing sleep! So good! Excellent breakdown!
“Full magazine could take staples out” was also referring to Vince Staples since he was criticizing him.

Bro, I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you putting the actual track in HD in the video instead of recording a speaker playing in the background. After trying like 10 videos, yours was the first without having the track sounding like garbage in the background. You got a follower. Not just for that, but that is a big plus.
I love how you break down Eminem! He's a genius and only a few can put his puzzle together.
"Turn the valium up, because I don't know how I'm gonna get ya mouths to shut" valium side effect puts you to sleep
“Turn the Valium up” is the only way to get through the noise……
Em spit so hard it took half hour to digest a song 😂💯🔥 respect though Stevie loving the reactions
34 min breakdown, respect that work you put in man. Just found this series, appreciate all the videos as I go back through them. Liked and subbed.

Stevie, "maybe Stan just isn't you're cup of tea" also = Dido's hook on Stsn when she sings "my tea's gone cold.."
“Cup of tea”means that something is not that You really like.
Next bar is about that drug that other rappers drink (syrup and lean).maybe your cup of tea is rap from drugged rappers:) that’s what I think
@@NorthSunsetOfficial you’re both right. Double entendre
Em is a genius with his wordplay especially with “I'm gonna crumble you and I'll take a number two
And dump on you, if you ain't Joyner
If you ain't Kendrick or Cole or Sean, then you're a goner” I mean he is saying he will destroy you with a number two pencil or take a shit on you lol. Just dope wordplay and 🔥 lyrics to go along with the entire track so much people missed.
ahh a number 2 PENCIL. I missed that one
Damn, never picked up on that one either.
Such a huge rap fan and so glad to see someone appreciate the bars and allll these double triple meaningsass thank youyy

The thames river in history has never frozen, so when he says the thames might freeze, that's something majority of people have missed.
The River Thames has Frozen over in history, back in the 1800s they used have fairs on it was that solid, makes Ems bar more sick. Im from the UK too.
Double there too with tims as in timberland s
The Thames river has frozen over 23 times... just not in over 200 years, so it's a rarity. But nice bar
I always thought it was 'temps might freeze' as in temperature. But I didn't know the Thames rarely froze.

With your comment on “em makes everyone nervous” reminds me of an old interview from The Game where he was talking bout his beef with 50 n Dre n he goes “you don’t wanna mess with the white dude”
@King Rock dudes a fool then lol
@King Rock id think complimenting Em would get him more clout and positive clout bc of how large Ems fanbase is. Unless hes hoping for a name drop from him inna diss for those 15 mins fame
Mia what you talking about 👀🤔
“Turn down for what, I ain’t loud enough
Nah, turn the Valium up”
I saw it as a double entendre like Em usually does with his bars. Might not be referenced in that verse but he does mention “I should eat a pill” referencing how people want him to go back to “Slim Shady”.
“Do you know why Dre’s record was so successful? He’s rapping about big screen TV’s, blunts, 40’s and bitches. You’re rapping about homosexuals and Vicodin.” - Steve Berman (skit) MMLP
Also interesting that there’s no chorus at all in this song. Unconventional cadence, the beats he raps to, this is one of those unique and highly slept on songs by him.
You smart, I caught this too dude.
Stevie I absolutely love your videos. When you go over his songs you actually pick up what he is meaning and I respect that soo damn much. Mostly everyone I know doesn’t like him and take his lyrics the wrong way.
The "Staples" bar was a vince staples shot too
MrNitty916 Was just about to say that 🔥
Wen he said he take a number 2 and take a dump on u ( no2 pencil)
Another thing about his “Stan” line:
He says, “Maybe Stan just isn’t your cup ‘a tea (Get it?)” cause in “Stan” the song, Dido is singing, “My tea’s gone cold I’m wonderin why I got outta bed at all.”
He likes to use a lot of stuff from his old songs as references.
Wow...good job catching that one! Gave me the chills. Really smart dude.
Alot of people miss this line.
He's a genius
I didnt hear the "get it" at all! I've heard this track too many times and I never heard that until now!!
I’ve listened to Stan so many times and I never knew that was the lyrics
when Em said "maybe Stan just isn't your cup of tea" that's connected to the hook when Dido says "my tea's gone cold i'm wondering why"
**Also Eminem- "Fall" Is A Definite Must** 🔥🔥🔥

Heath Story Believe might be the most intellectually written lyrics the world has known.... yea... Em fell off.... psshhh
