Damn straight. Halo: Reach was the last great Halo game from the people who created Halo. 343i did OK with Halo 4, but since then they've dragged Halo's name through the mud. A damn shame.
When looking back at Reach and how Bungie just kept pushing Halo into new, bigger and better stuff, I feel sad to see that 343 just keep removing and restricting stuff. Remember Reach.
5:06 and 5:12 are great examples of ideal game developer mentality. Making a tool that allows players to pursue their own ideas. Being humble; accepting and expecting that the player can be more creative, have more ideas than the developer. And the fact that they wanted to turn the tricks of halo 3 forge into tools in halo reach. Now you have developers that try to get more and more restrictive of the players capabilities, but don’t even try to supplement that loss with a better storyline or worldspace. That’s why I think battle royales are such a great addition to the gaming industry despite the hate they get, they’re calling on the idea of making a more vague battlefield that allows for freedom for the player. Although it may be annoying for the market to be milking them, they’re a new frontier, just as forge was for the gaming industry. I just hope battle royales and forge modes are more developed in the future.

This was halo's prime. The armor customization, the campaign, Forge World... I just hope Halo Infinite will be as exciting, because we know damn well Halo 4 & 5 was not.
Man, I remember looking at this, back when I was 9, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Things are so different now. Back then, there was so much being added in games. Compared to today, where adding jetpacks is a ''Revolutionary feature'' (Call of duty). In Halo Reach, jetpacks were just a tendril of the game's content. God, I wish games would be this god nowadays.

I've played this game since it came out, I would just like to thank Bungie for making this game as good as it is. I wouldn't do anything to change it. In fact I still play the game a lot with friends who have the same idea as me.

Now, 14 years later at 26 I've been slackin with reach but recently got back into in on MCC and started fucking around with it again with my now wife, brother, and some friends and the shine and memories and vibe are all still there. Hell its right now that I'm playing it and randomly thought of this video so I had to look it up. It's weird how just certain areas of the map alone will bring back memories. I knew, maybe not as much as I realize now, but I knew then that times were good then. And hell, despite it all times are still good when we can have little escapes sometimes like this

We were in the middle of making a forge map on halo: 3 that day playing sandbox. Bungie I will always miss you and the team that brought halo to life. You didn’t want much money from us You wanted us to have fun and be happy while experiencing halo. Thank you ❤
Say what you will about Destiny. But Bungie is one of those rare companies where if they see an exploit being used in their game, Bungie will never ban you for doing it. Because they know its their responsibly to not have them in, not yours to not use them. The Managerie was a great example. You could open the final chest over 10 times after 1 completion (You were supposed to only open it once per run.) But after the exploit was found Bungie left it like that for the remaining time in the season. Even joking about it on Twitter. A very rare sight. EA banned loads of people in Anthem for finding exploits to farm loot easier, shows the difference.
I remember loading up forge world for the first time after playing the rather limited space of halo 3 for a while and I didn’t know what forge world was and I remember loading in and being completely amazing about the sheer size and beauty of the map. I have so many great memories of messing around on this map with friends

That was the point, Forge was incredible and could build almost anything, but it was also simple enough to let anyone make whatever they wanted and even *have fun* with friends while they're doing it. I don't care how advanced Infinite's Forge might be, it's still going to just be a glorified dev tool and not allow people to dick around in it and have fun with it. There was one piece of concept art for Reach's Forge, and it showed the players having fun and killing each other, while some Monitors floated vehicles and geometry around them. Infinite's Forge won't be anything like that because it'll be a glorified GECK/Creation Kit at the end of the day. Which I think is awesome, that anyone could make just about anything with no restrictions, but it's a dev tool now, not a game mode where people can just have fun. Which seems perfect for 343 since they barely ever understood the concept of having fun
@@c4l685 Reach and the MCC (together) are coming to Steam. The first Reach beta test on Xbox One is supposed to happen in a few weeks and the PC flight shortly after that flight starts. The PC flight might even happen during the second Xbox One flight. We don't really know when they'll be for sure.

I remember my first time playing this, me being young I didn't watch any of the trailers, so I thought the entire world was just in the starting room, my neighbors (who I unfortunately haven't talked to in years) managed to show me that there was an entire world out there to explore and it blew my mind
They really had no idea how big forge world was, not just from a land area perspective, but from a game building one as well. When reach came to mcc, 6.2 MILLION maps were exported. Entire youtube channels created showing off maps, how to make maps, people playing those maps. When you got bored in matchmaking, campaign, or firefight, you could go make your own gamemode in forge. Speed Halo, Fat Kid, Jenga, Toilet, Avalanche, Trench Warfare, Crash Up Durby, Chess, Races, Battleship. Not to mention the clan community and the MLG maps. 11 years worth of things to do.
The Golden Age for Gaming died when Halo Reach reached the end of it's life cycle. Nothing can compare to the insane amount of Player freedom that Reach gave us.

halo reach's forge world is still being used to this day
I miss Halo games getting Forge at launch
I come back for the feels of this video. It feels magical.
I remember how incredible this was, the possibilities it offered compared to Halo 3's forge. Bloody beautiful map too.
They really had no idea how big forge world was, not just from a land area perspective, but from a game building one as well. When reach came to mcc, 6.2 MILLION maps were exported. Entire youtube channels created showing off maps, how to make maps, people playing those maps. When you got bored in matchmaking, campaign, or firefight, you could go make your own gamemode in forge. Speed Halo, Fat Kid, Jenga, Toilet, Avalanche, Trench Warfare, Crash Up Durby, Chess, Races, Battleship. Not to mention the clan community and the MLG maps. 11 years worth of things to do.
The Golden Age for Gaming died when Halo Reach reached the end of it's life cycle.
Nothing can compare to the insane amount of Player freedom that Reach gave us.
