The speaker gave a fantastically well-organized and concise presentation! No off-topic rambling at all. This made it very easy to follow and stay focused on the information. Great job!
Sulfite intake is directly linked to asthma symptoms and urticaria. Sulfites are ubiquitous, as they are used as a fumigant, antimicrobial agent and bleaching agent in the manufacturing/processing of foodstuffs. In the U.S. ingredients of ingredients are not required to be listed on food labels. So you won’t see sulfites listed when they are used in the processing of food raw materials. The worst offender is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Sulfites are used as antimicrobial “preservatives” in high fructose corn syrup at 1000 times the level permitted by the FDA as an additive, but as an ingredient of an ingredient, it need not be disclosed. Compounding this problem is the fact that many pediatricians tell parents of asthmatic children to replace milk with juice - often containing high fructose corn syrup, thus heavily laden with sulfites. Sulfites are also used as a bleaching agent in regular sugar, flour and salt. So condiments and gravy and other flour products can be a problem. Sulfites are also used in the manufacturing process of all alcoholic beverages and all sugared beverages. Additionally, sulfites are found in all frozen seafood, to prevent black spots. The food technology industry has been allowed to become insidious in renaming high fructose corn syrup and even changing the manufacturing process, making it more potent and requiring more sulfites. There is information available on the internet regarding the tested content of sulfites in foodstuffs and the renaming of HFCS. If you, or someone you know suffer from asthma it’s worth the effort to research. Most of this information regarding sulfites became known because previously, restaurants were allowed to sprinkle metabisulfite on salad bar foods, e.g., greens, veggies, fruit, etc., resulting in more than a few asthmatics having immediate lethal asthma attacks. HTH!
@@maltipaws5128 thanks for this information regarding sulfites. I didn't know that about frozen seafood! It's like a full time job trying to gather information on what is safe to eat. It really shouldn't be this way.
I received a FMT ( fecal microflora transplant) one month ago! I had a bacteria infection, took an antibiotic to get rid of it (C Diff bacteria)! I have no more C DIFF spores 🌝 Now that I have brand new gut bacteria, I am living ,and eating to feed THEM ❤ I feel like a new person mentally, physically, and spiritual!!!
@@alprince1406 Yes 👍 🌝 I would start by eating a high probiotic diet, but if you already have tried that, then you should look into the FMT. Avoid antibiotics!
One of THE BEST presentations on the impact of the human microbiome. She so clearly & concisely condenses this vital, newer field and its critical role in human health.
I'm a formula fed 70's child FUT2 non excretor. Suffered ADHD, numerous illnesses, addiction issues etc.. I'm finding health through organically growing my own vegetables with which to support my microbiome. Prolonged fasting has massively helped too as has cutting out alcohol, bread and vegetable fats. I make my own ferments and herbal extractions for digestive tonics. I fully subscribe to modulating your microbiome to help the physiology reach homeostasis.
I have suffered from asthma all my life and have been doing everything I can to improve my lifestyle and diet to reduce my symptoms. This lecture is mind blowing and has completely changed my view on the disease. If there was ever an opportunity to take part in clinical trials I would jump at the chance. Until then the new topic of study is gut biome health. Thanks for this great lecture!
My older sibling had bad asthma but they took up hiking-type activities in wild, natural areas, getting close to the soil, etc. Now they have no more need of Ventolin puffers. They also eat a very varied diet rich in pickles and other fermented foods. I think it helped their condition. Do you get out in nature at all?
I have eosinophilic asthma. Life ending level before the chemotherapy. Also an MD. The fermented food comment below is dead on- spicy pickle chips are a staple. I started hiking every week, 5-12 miles on a weekend, plus 2-4 miles a day on a treadmill, eating a plant/protein based diet and lung damaged has reversed over several years. Still some problems mid fev1 due to mid size bronchi, which responds to steroid inhaler and bronchodilators.
we follow a low pufa eating regiem with whole foods. We are using red light therapy to improve mitochondria response. We are seeing significant improvement in asthma. Hope this helps
Seek healthier, thicker, more supple cells in your lungs. When unhealthy thin and brittle irritants easily breech the cell lining. Then bodies natural response is histamine to flush irritants. If root issue not addressed then problem becomes chronic. Decrease any and all oxidative sources. Inhailants, preservatives, pesticides, etc. Eat more antioxidants. Fresh ripe fruits, berries are best.
As an infectious disease physician who has had an abiding interest in the health and disease implications of the human micro biome for several years, I almost skipped this presentation. So glad I didn’t! Great information, well-organized and communicated in a highly engaging and compelling manner.

It's so funny cos my sisters boyfriend (who has Colitis) reckons the doctor told them to 'not eat highly fibrous foods as their body cannot break it down and they should stick to refined stuff'. Goes to show a lot of doctors don't learn about nutrition and are just taught to prescribe drugs!
Colitis is a specific physical disease, that requires a specific diet. Please educate yourself on why the doctor would have told him this, instead of making broad statements that essentially show you don't know what you're talking about and you just have an agenda that you would like to spout.
The reason the doc said that is because its true, in diseases where leaky gut has caused the gut to be badly damaged you cannot digest fibre and it causes more inflammation. The patient needs a strict elimination diet, like the specific carbohydrate diet, which allows the gut to heal and pinpoint specific foods which the patient has intolerance of whilst eating A multi strain Pro biotic lactose free yoghurt plus a fermented food daily.
If you lose the carpet of healthy gut bacteria, you are unable to absorb the byproducts of fibre digestion, hence developing colitis and diarrhoea. The doctor was completely correct in telling your sister's boyfriend that.
In Ayurveda, we hold these 2 principles. First is to increase and fortify digestion; then 2, reduce and eliminate what is called Ama, undigested food particles and what is also considered pathologic mucus. Science confirms and elaborates on these principles. Eg., Ginger is useful to do both these functions. Re making a baby, I strongly suggest we study Ayurvedic principles, so we don't re-invent the wheel, so to speak. Most of us have forgotten how to make a healthy baby. Our study of Ayurveda and/or TCM can be our homework and we can prevent doctor visits that may not work in our favor. Wishing everyone good health. Thanx for your deep work.
Simply fascinating! As a biomedical PhD student working on the Gut-Liver axis, the gut microbiome is extremely relevant for my research. I'm glad I convinced my PI to include a segment of experiments to check how the gut bacteria play a role in our models. Great things will come from microbiome research! It's still early days to come up with targeted therapies, but man, this is exciting research!
A simple evolutionary question “ how would you like your digestive system to behave as your first line of defence and also as the necessary tool for metabolism” ? The quest for protection and maintenance. It all start with our first line of defence. Our “ first responders”, the gut

One thing I'm disappointed in is that they ignored the Round Up widespread in the food supply, which destroys soil bacteria, and our food normally picks up soil microbes and that's how we normally inoculate our guts, from the food.
@@jefflebowski918 Sorry Jeff but the evidence clearly shows that glyphosate DOES affect the microbiota. Do a quick google search, it's scary. Please stop spreading industry propaganda.
This is a little long but I think it’s kind of interesting. I was a 4oyr old nurse that had naturally been thin all my life. I could eat all I wanted and did. I was a formula feed baby. I was brought up an a meat and potatoes diet. We always has a meat (beef, pork mostly, and sometimes chichen, NO fish or NO seafood) so we always had a meat, a starch whether it was potatoes or rice, and a vegetable. I don’t remember there being any fruit in my house when I was a child. I even had a set of triplets and all the weight I had gained came right off at age 33. However, everything changed when I was 37. I have breast cancer and needed surgery and 3 different chemo medications over 4 months. I pretty much made it through okay. But come about 1 1/2 - 2 years later I started to blow up like a balloon. I was gaining weigh so fast that sometimes my abdomen ached. I couldn’t stop it. I couldn’t eat as much as a used to eat and I started eating very little but still the weigh kept coming. It hit my belly first convincing everyone around me that I was pregnant. I was not. My doctor looked for tumors or cysts like on an ovary and there was none. Just fat. I know had a fatty liver and I don’t drink. The weight still kept coming. I went from weighing 125 lbs to 200 lbs over a few years. I have been at 200 lbs for probably 4 years now. I’m currently 50. But my weight still creeps up. I will look at the scale and I will be 210 lbs and then I have to starve to death to try to get back down to 200. I have tried dieting but I get sick when I down eat. Meaning my stomach hurts, I get a headache, and I’m nauseous. So instead a try eating just a small portion of food but that only holds me at this weight, Here’s the interesting part and this is all guess work on my part. This is all so new my doctors think I crazy. Remember that I am a nurse. My specialty is working with diabetics. Almost of of them are type II which is the one associated with obesity. My glucose level has been steadily raising and I now had pre-diabetes. No doubt to become full on type ii diabetes. I had 21 patiences a day and I worked a lot of hours. If you’re thinking many diabetic nurses are thin you are probably right but there are a lot of fat ones too. Here’s what’s different in my case. I had my gut biome completely destroyed by chemo therapy. One week before I started chemo I had some kind of skin infection so the doctor gave me everything under the sun that would kill whatever was affecting my skin. I had strong full spectrum antibiotics, anti-virus medicates and I don’t remember what else. So for the week prior to starting chemotherapy I had already given my gut biome a good killing. Then for four straight months, death to my gut biome. Going back to my job. I always eat the same foods that these people eat because I never brought my lunch so i would just steal the extra trays of food. I was very up close and physical with all these patients while taking care of there missing limbs, wounds that wouldn’t heal, and all kind of diabetes ii problems they had. At times I would have to use the main bathroom where many patients also used although they were supposed to use their bathrooms in their room. I know my microbiome was pretty much wiped out. The chemo also wipes out and reeks havoc with your immune system. I think as my biome was replacing itself it did it just like when you are a child. It got it from my environment and that happen to be a diabetes ward with a bunch of obese patients and their families. I think a fecal transplant but there’s not a lot doing obesity. Most are already full. And beside I live on the gulf side of Florida. And the weigh transplants aren’t near me. Another problem is that nobody takes me seriously. My story could be a possibility. It’s not impossible that it happened sort of like this. One good thing came out of chemo. Before chemo I had restless leg syndrome so bad most nights that I would cry because i was frustrated and it hurts. It would go on so long that eventually I would be so exhausted I would fall asleep for a little while. Well, guess what’s gone for almost a decade and a half? Yep, RLS completely gone. I think that is due to the destruction that chemo therapy does to your nerve or maybe it’s an unknown virus. I have no idea but I am so glad it’s gone. I wish I could tell this to a chief researcher of RLS. It might just be a fluke or maybe it could give them a clue.
I read about a case where a healthy (but overweight) person donated a fecal sample to a skinny (but sickly) woman. The sickly woman's colon problems were completely healed but she became overweight (just like her fecal donor) even though she had never been overweight before. I hope you are able to heal yourself. Good luck! : )
I would definitely recommend going plant-based (doesn't have to be full vegan) to build up your microbiome. Fruits, vegetables, fermented foods, sourdough etc.
Kate please look at Dr William Davis Making yoghurt, ( wheatbelly )shows how he made a yoghurt from a specific probiotic to boost gut bacteria and the benefits are amazing. Good bless you. my wife has cancer it's not easy,
Love your video and I totally get it. I’m 74 and really work at eating good/properly. Last, in the past I was obese and I realized I had to do life different now I’m improving in ALL areas all the time.
Dr.Susan V Lynch gave a fantastic talk on Human Microbiome and she is well organised and concise in her delivery. Ever thought that the vaccines could have altered our microbiome? Children are getting more and more vaccines introduced to their body throughout their life. Could the vaccines perturbed the existing microbiome community? How many vaccines were given to children in the 50s compare to now? How about the prescription drugs?
I would like to hear this professor's assessment of glyphosate, the ingredient in the herbicide Round Up. It kills the bacteria in our gut, on a daily basis. This is a call for the practical knowledge of this expert.

@@wendyvan6818 yep this is the key...I'm a chemist, the sulfites have negative charge, they bind up the oxygen in your blood, thus the asthmatic attack...much like Red Tide here in Florida, the sulphur binds the oxygen in the water and suffocates the fish...sulfites are in wine, olives, shell fish and many processed foods, watch out for Nitrates in meat and phosphates in soda...good post
The allergies and sensitivities are coming from the vaccines, primarily. Vaccines make the body atopic: a·top·ic /ˌāˈtäpik/ adjective denoting a form of allergy in which a hypersensitivity reaction such as dermatitis or asthma may occur in a part of the body not in contact with the allergen. Plus the vaccine media are made of many plant proteins. When the immune system is activated by the vaccine, the body sensitizes to the proteins in the blood.

We should really study people with “fibromyalgia” i.e. chronic widespread pain. I am certain it’s a condition caused by a disturbance in the gut microbiome. Curing these patients would get millions of people back to work, increase their QOL and save billions in healthcare spending.
Saving money on healthcare is, unfortunately not the real objective in the USA ... regardless of the rhetoric put forth in social discourse and politics about this aim.
@Chrissie's Art Space thats wonderful! I have also changed my diet and fast frequently. I'm no longer suffering from constant widespread pain. I eliminated all grains and sugar from my diet and if I mess up just a little my body sure lets me know.

Dylanna Enzo Thank you for sharing this. I know the movement and Kennedy’s efforts. But if a University can study the human microbiome and effects of vaccines and report it, I bet the truth will not be hidden anymore.
I believe there is. Gluten sensitivity is a result of 2 things: de-optimized function of organs (due to poor aka modern diet) and poor gut microbiome health. These lead to an imbalance of bacteria and candida albicans is allowed to dominate the system. This is also known as yeast overgrowth. Fluffy tongue is a common symptom of this. Yeast overgrowth combined with a weak immune system from poor nutrient absorbtion in the digestive system leads to repetitive throat infections and then removal of tonsils.
@@samstevens5590 thanks for the reply. My tonsils were removed and I also was a C-section birth. I have really bad gluten sensitivity my whole life. My parents just shoved Benadryl and allergy medication down my throat. When I finally stopped eating glutin I was able to stop the medication.
I was a 60s breast fed baby , 9 of 10 children. Playing in the dirt was a daily event. Had the mumps in kindergarten but never lost a day of school after that. Throughout my 62 years i have only been down to illness a small handful of times that lasted a week or more. I have always put my good health to consuming much citrus (vitamin c).
Health is so much more than intake of the most abundant vitamin, though. Eating whole, unprocessed foods, intermittent fasting, building muscle & doing cardio frequently each day, quality sleep, getting sunlight, stress reduction, good relationships, enjoying your job. Now THAT is summation.
This knowledge has been around in Eastern Medicine/Modalities for thousands of years. This has been taught in every naturapathic medicine programs for decades. Western medicine is truly embarrassing, it’s monopolized and controlled by pharmaceutical companies.
Western medicine is embarrassing? That's taking it too far. Yes, it has some wrong concepts but it's still too powerful and successful. You suffer from a fatal allergic reaction, western medicine will save you. You meet with an accident, western medicine will save you. It has many flaws, yes. Especially in the field of nutrition. But it's still the best. And to say it's embarassing, rather than imperfect, is unfair.
She literally references and credits old eastern (specifically Chinese) medicinal practices in the video, maybe you should watch the whole thing before making emotional charged responses to a video that is so extremely important for the future development of microbiome research.
I'm a layperson so not the best judge of scientific info. I think this is a great presentation. I already knew tooth decay microbes are passed from mother to child but this is so much more than that. It makes sense microbes effect so many things. Fascinating! Thanks for uploading this. Keep this kind of info coming. Every person should know this stuff. Microbes effect everything in our lives.
An amazing lecture! Finally, we are starting to focus on human studies confirming what already seen in animal models. Great results, and much more promising ones to come!
Fascinating and well presented. It would be great to see some controlled studies on the health effects of fasting and time-restricted eating, both of which eliminated my chronic atopic dermatitis. No doctor had helped me before that, or suggested a link between my gut and my skin. Of course, fasting and eating fewer meals are free, so probably a hard sell.
That‘s so great to hear, good job! I had pretty significant skin issues in early childhood before my body really started rebelling after leaving Highschool (severe pains, digestive issues, anxiety, etc.). For me it seems the cause was a mix of stress, poor diet and microbiome issues (C-section, antibiotics). So I am in the process of healing up those issues with a healthy diet, light intermittent fasting and soon a microbiome transplant. Fascinating stuff.
I started making my own bacteria. They suggest taking feces from a healthy person to transfer to another person. That is backward thinking to me. Probiotics are not enough in pill form for me. I started making things with kefir grains, yogurt, and I only eat smoothies with fiber and tons of bacteria that help me. I just usually use almond milk and I use a small amountwith regular milk introduced with kefir, probiotic pills, and yogurt. I will use just sugar water for bacteria to grow it. It tastes great. It is water kefir pretty much.
Grateful for you and your work Dr. Lynch. Now more than ever it is key to eat SPECIFICALLY for our microbiome. We are what our microbes eat. If you happen to be afforded the luxury of having full autonomy over a two inch nutrient intake valve on the front of your skull USE it. It helps me to visualize how much area a goalie is responsible for in football. I just have to cover two inches. Trust me, you can do this!
SMH.. She said Aspartame kills off good gut bacteria and raises insulin more than glucose!! I spent my whole youth eating and drinking the stuff, no wonder I developed fatty liver disease and dysbiosis. On a side note, my mother's first child, conceived after she had been on the pill (which is known to affect the mother's microbiome), was kept impossibly clean and changed/bathed often. As the second child, I was allowed to be dirtier and also made to sit in dirty nappies for longer. I also got breastfed for a little longer than my older sibling. They grew up with severe constipation, constant colds/flu and illnesses and developed asthma and chronic obesity in childhood, while I didn't. It sounds like she's onto something.

@PEMF iMRS You're right, it would cost billions in profits for pharma if everyone suddenly stopped vaccinating, but we don't need alternatives, as the totally unvaccinated are the healthiest segment of the population. Medicine won't admit that it doesn't know how to make safe and effective vaccines.
An extraordinary lecture . The future of medicine starts from the gut .It must be placed left ,right and center. It is the only way to make sense of all systems in an evolutionary manner . Where we come from and where we are going
Alvaro, medicine will not change to NO HARMFUL MEDS anymore, no money to be made! Meds and processed foods for the labrats, that's all human kind is to the ones on the "top".
This not a new concept. There are Drs around the world who have worked in healing people by looking at the Gut as the source of problems first and foremost years ago. Humans are host to all forms of microbes. Its their interaction with us via the bowl that has to be the major priority in managing illness . Theres no way things will change because the simple truth is no money will be made from curing us from diseases like Diabetes, Heart, etc. The money is in medication.
Well if we do what the bible say all us will be well the bible tell us what to eat and what not to eat to stay well......Jesus did say we are hard headed and stiff neck lol.
And I'm not a Christian lol I use to be not no more I do believe there's a Spirit that created the universe that's for sure but not Christianity god smh.
This was a terrific discussion. An informative and thorough explanation of the importance of a healthy and diversified gut microbiome; Specifically in the early stages of life.

This presentation did a wonderful job explaining the microbiome. Dr. Lynch is obviously an expert in the field of the microbiome yet she fails to recognize the one thing that alters it the most, diet. I suffer from ulcerative colitis and am able to manage my disease by eating a diet that optimizes my biome. This could be another aspect to incorporate into your research as I think it is the most important part of the gut microbiota. Thanks!
This is truly the best presentation I've heard on the subject, this far. It also scores high, as far as I'm concerned-- as far as "easy listening" as well!
It's good that she says clearly that this isn't the answer to everyone's problems. A word of note, my wife and I have a virtually identical diet, and where mine was always quite good and and balanced hers was very meat centric until I came along. Also I am way more athletic than she ever was. Now in the twilight of our lives I've had serious cardiac events and high blood pressure and struggle with my weight but no diabetes and she is as slim as the day I met her with low blood pressure and no sign of heart disease yet pre diabetes. This shows that the equation is extremely complex, and well beyond this very interesting presentation. What is need is an "overlord" that looks at this and the many other research projects going on and "filters" the content.
I saw a similar example with my parents. My dad jogged six miles a day, he played sports in college, never smoked. Mom had type 2 diabetes, smoked most of her life, stopped at 70 y/o. Her diet was terrible, sugary sodas, high simple carb diet. Mom outlived dad nearly a decade. As a dentist, I am realizing that root canal treatments on teeth can be a major cause of disease. I have read three great books on the subject, start with ''The Root Canal Coverup", by Meinig.
In fact, seems you are saying what Dr Lynch says in a section of this video, in other words. Yours distort what she said, in a slight way, but still you haven’t laid by kind of scientific golden egg here. Additionslly, what you provide as “proof” is a mini study comprising of only two people. Therefore, it’s not a scientific study. It’s what most people mistake for a scientific study; it’s simply a subjectively reported experience of 2 people. That being said, it also reinforces precisely what Dr Lynch reported in this video: the differences in generic microbiome, and it’s effects. (Or maybe I am bringing in parts of Dr Lustig’s video?)
@@dfinite1111 I make no claim of my "results" being scientific, only that they are accurate. I don't intend to distort what she says. As to differences in micro biome, the differences in the way the "shit stinks differently" for people in the same household for similar diet is testimony to that 🙂
Excellent information. In our Indian traditional Ayurved system, much more stress is given on the food and digestive system. It emphasizes on the right food for keeping body healthy. Specifically more stress is on probiotics.
Thank you for your research, Dr Susan Lynch on gut micro biome perturbation (23:00) - psoriasis, obesity, depression linking neurological and cardiovascular diseases. I’ve always suspected it was microbial. And your humour! That the gut isn’t like Vegas!!! 😂❤ thank you! I hope to interview you for my podcast, “Help! I’m prediabetic” .
Great talk and clearly presented. While you made reference to natural birth and C-section in the early part of the talk it was not stated in the study looking at the three groups of babies for asthma whether these babies were all natural births. Can you clarify this? Also have you looked at the bacteria in the birth canal that the baby will pick up on it's way out in a natural birth and the importance of not cleaning the baby for as long as possible. (Is there a time factor here?). What do you think about the possibility that there is a connection between the microbiome and ALS, Alzheimer's etc. My background is in Mass Spec. Did you mean that pun at the end? "A large body is studying Obesity"
Will any OTC probiotics restore a healthy intestinal microbiota ? Some products have 5 or10 strains , some 20 and one has 31 strains . Are they just "snake oil" ??? Would OTC probiotics work better if administered via enema ?

My wife had 4 c-sections and lots of antibiotics. After first 2, she was able to loose weight, but last two seemed to bring irreversible changes. I love my wife fat or thin, but she refused to give up. I will not bore you with all diets she tried, just mention that when she went on water fast for 20 days, even then she was able to loose only about 10 kg. She would go on repeating fasts, but after this first one she got severe re-feeding syndrome. Her body swell, especially legs and she had difficulty taking stairs. Should I mention that her weight was back in first 6 hours? Then she went on Keto OMAD. Lost 15 kg, but decided to add to her diet probiotics. And in a week started gaining weigh back. She was and still is having one meal a day. No sugar, bread, starchy vegetables. Her weight still creeps back as fast as it was crowling off her prior to probiotics. If anyone wants to comment, I would welcome any advise. My wife is not diabetic, has no thyroid or other problems.
She needs to correct her microbiome with raw probiotics made in nature. Go to a local organic farm and get raw milk drink it fresh and find local wild honey. The cows must produce A2 protein in their milk
So what are people's take aways to help ones own health. Less processed food to start? With the micro biomedical developed at age 3 is there much more we can do after that age. And what can we do for kids under that age? Tks
The correlation between the increrase of scheduled vaccines to the prevelance of childhood illnesses should not be overlooked. Thats all I'll say about that but my opinion goes well beyond a simple correlation.
@@bobbiellison4315 Right. It couldn't possibly be that we keep our kids impossibly clean nowadays. Up until 50 years ago, kids bathed once a week and ate mud pies at school.
The conclusion needs to be stated at the start otherwise the listener might not feel motivated to last until the end. It's a difficult topic to follow when a technical language is used to describe outcomes of experiments (it gets heavy about 55 mins). Why say 'adipose' when you can say 'fat'? It's fine for someone with a degree in biology but for those without the specialized language a simple statement such as "asthma is accompanied by increased gut fungi and reduced polyunsaturated fatty acids" would help. I also wanted to hear about how diet influences the bacterial population. What feeds the nasty bacteria? Can particular diets favour particular communities?
My sister got an infection right after birth and got into a coma when 1 week old. She was heavily treated with antibiotics as a newborn and she has asthma as a child and a skin condition involving her hair follicles until some time after her teenage years. I would really like to know if this general condition has blood related consequences as well because her blood levels are always very low and they cannot find the cause.
I have only watched one hour so far, but the linoleic acid rang a bell as it is one of the PUFAs that upsets the satiety signalling coming from the mitochondria, and causes us to not know we are full, when the linoleic acid is in excess. This has been gone over in excruciating detail at Peter's Place ( Peter Hyperlipid ). How can we alter our microbiota if we have a dysfunctional one, besides a fecal transplant? Eat a wide variety of plants? Make use of a variety of fibers? Of course eliminate all processed foods, especially ones with the " weapon of mass destruction", the high fructose corn syrup. Are there reliable companies to measure the impact of our interventions?
Pretreating patients with antimicrobial is an obvious route to opening space or as you say 'clearing the decks' in the intestine for a good outcome of FMT, however would it not be better for a colonic water flushing of the system as this should reduce and prepare the system for a better uptake as there would be no antimicrobial residue to impact differentially on the various microbes in the FMT?
How about educating the population on the consumption of 'real food' and on the dangers of 'junk food'? A simpler, safer approach? Type 2 diabetes can be reversed by diet strategies, elimination of sugars and fasting. The obesity/diabetes epidemic is directly related to the spread of the Western SAD diet.
Very meaningful lecture. Fasting is effective for chronic atopic dermatitis and chronic asthma. A friend of mine has suffered from asthma and atopic dermatitis since childhood, but has been completely cured by fasting.
This is a fantastic theoretical concept because it shifts the focus from siloed systems thinking to big data topigraphical data of small organism within their natural habitat than Petri dishes.
Test on mice the changes on babies before birth? Also could changing the microbiome in older people be possible with fasting and reducing existing levels first. I had allergies and got rid of them after watching the science of fasting and fasted for 6 days, and how much more effective would it have been if I had these supplements while doing a long fast. Great info and thank you for sharing your findings with the community.

Badly because microwave mutates the sells in the food, and kills the food's original signal and makers (which your digestion and microbiome need to "read" but microwave de-acivates them before your digestion/microbiome can read and receive that signal from the food, which it is used to getting....like from a raw avocado or raw piece of fruit can still signal the belly, but a baked micro cannot anymore, not a cooked egg etc).

Seek healthier, thicker, more supple cells in your lungs. When unhealthy thin and brittle irritants easily breech the cell lining. Then bodies natural response is histamine to flush irritants. It's so funny cos my sisters boyfriend (who has Colitis) reckons the doctor told them to 'not eat highly fibrous foods as their body cannot break it down and they should stick to refined stuff'. Goes to show a lot of doctors don't learn about nutrition and are just taught to prescribe drugs!
and? did he eat fibre? what happened up till now?
Colitis help=seabuckthorn berry supplement (sea buck wonders is good) a miracle
Ginger is amazing.

So instead a try eating just a small portion of food but that only holds me at this weight,
Here’s the interesting part and this is all guess work on my part.
Oh, and eat nuts.

This PhD is weellll above average in the ability to communicate succinctly very complex topics. Bravo.

On top of the foods, we’ve got a LOT of pharmaceutical products going into the bodies of the nation.
The allergies and sensitivities are coming from the vaccines, primarily. Vaccines make the body atopic:

denoting a form of allergy in which a hypersensitivity reaction such as dermatitis or asthma may occur in a part of the body not in contact with the allergen.
Plus the vaccine media are made of many plant proteins. When the immune system is activated by the vaccine, the body sensitizes to the proteins in the blood.

Yes, this should be a part of this discussion.
I'm blown away by this.
I've heard fibromyalgia is an autoimmune disease so bacteria playing a role in causing it would make sense.
@Chrissie's Art Space thats wonderful! I have also changed my diet and fast frequently. I'm no longer suffering from constant widespread pain. I eliminated all grains and sugar from my diet and if I mess up just a little my body sure lets me know.
Every condition might be caused by a bad gut the beating of your heart might be gut related
@Chrissie's Art Space I too suffered for years with it among other health challenges! I changed my diet to a whole food unprocessed moderate to high fat moderate protein and low carb. Curious if there is a correlation between gluten sensitivity and the removal of tonsils.

@@gesund_mit_chris_IG Best wishes to you on your journey to better health. Keep us updated.
As the second child, I was allowed to be dirtier and also made to sit in dirty nappies for longer. I also got breastfed for a little longer than my older sibling. This presentation did a wonderful job explaining the microbiome. This could be another aspect to incorporate into your research as I think it is the most important part of the gut microbiota. Thanks!

@@openmind8620 hi

Can you clarify this? Also have you looked at the bacteria in the birth canal that the baby will pick up on it's way out in a natural birth and the importance of not cleaning the baby for as long as possible.

Wonderful!

She was heavily treated with antibiotics as a newborn and she has asthma as a child and a skin condition involving her hair follicles until some time after her teenage years.

How does microwave cooking effect food biome
Affect..
It denatures the vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants in the food. So you're essentially just eating carbs, proteins and fats with no further nutrition.
