the part about 'does pretty privilege exist with female artists' literally makes no sense. if being pretty is a pre-requisite to being talented then that literally means pretty privilege exsists with female artists and if anything it's MORE PROMIMENT!
2:52 I agree with this for the most part. But there are notable exceptions to this: Adele, Lizzo, Amy Winehouse, hell I'd even add Lady Gaga to the mix who have simply made it through the merit of their artistic talent. I think for women it's rather: If you're not pretty, you're at a disadvantage. The question then becomes: Is that pretty privilege or 'ugly deprivation'?
@@00pium_kingvampstan There's a reason why someone like Adele was never sexualized: Because her looks simply weren't marketable that way. And for those that do/did objectify themselves, namely Lizzo and Lady Gaga, they used that more likely than not to make a political and/or artistic statement. The point I'm making is: All these artists' looks were never marketable in the conventional sense, if at all. The artists then found different ways to stick out from the rest, be it through eccentrism (Lady Gaga), by pushing a political agenda (Lizzo) or by simply not making the body a part of their artistry (Adele).

What you said about how the medium that toxicity is shared plays a key role is so spot on. It reminds me of The Weeknd in his show The Idol and how repulsed everyone was by it lol. Like bro literally sings about almost the same stuff his character was acting out🤣 It really lift the veil for me on this subject matter as a woman lmao
I was a Sza fan and never liked party. But as Sza blew up I do feel she became more and more plastic. And I don't just mean the obvious surgeries. Too insecure for me, and she reminds me of a female Drake very often.
I think it's less important that pretty privilege means you don't face consequences for things but rather the benefits and positives present from it. Chris Brown even if you took away his career and status would be seen as more trustworthy, a stronger leader, more intelligent and other positive characteristics not related to those characteristics in the work place. And then you can also discuss dating prospects lol
No because why are the most toxic songs the most popular and catchy songs fr lol I’m glad to see a video about pretty privilege even for men and male rappers because it’s true it does exist. We’re in a moment where “toxic” is hot and trendy which is part of why it does so well
what makes you unattractive? go to the gym for 1 year 4-5 days a week nonstop. maybe youll change your mind. get your teeth fixed if they're f'd up. get some retainers if you have a over/under bite. if you have a voice as you say once you commit to those few things youll be a well known melanated asian
This all just goes with what we’ve always known. Women always talk about what their ideal man is… and then choose the most toxic one they complain about… and then the reason why you don’t see it the other way around is cause men don’t wanna cuff women who are doing the same.
Difference is men are brought more ideal, logical and realistic. Women arent. Yall are taught what red-flags are and to avoid them. Woman are taught to believe in "true love and soulmates" and to accept bad treatment from men bc "thats just their nature". They are also gaslighted in believing men who treat them terribly love them and staying makes them a good girl. As a girl, i have said i would NEVER accept shit treatment and because of the way the world works, ive been berated by both men and indooctrinated women. Its not just that women like bad men, we are TAUGHT TO. i gladly saw the truth and learned better even tho im young.
As a music journalist, I believe music, the artist, and the real person who is playing the artists are separate entities. Music is a story. It’s made for entertainment purposes. It’s made to evoke feelings and stir conversations. Most people forget, there are usually at least 5-10 people who are behind even just a single song production (audio engineers, mixers, composers, song writers, etc) However, it’s the artist that gets credit, they’re the face of the song and the audience forgets that. When consuming music that is coming from an industry, the music is filtered, it’s tampered, and it’s not straight from the source. Therefore you have to judge it differently. You can’t believe everything you hear. Just because someone can write and sing a love song doesn’t mean they’re a lover and vice versa. However, when personal life allegations come to the light with music stars, I take those seriously and it’s no longer entertainment. Chris Brown the entertainer who sings toxic lyrics is one thing…he’s an entertainer. However Christopher Brown who beats women, is real. That’s not a persona, that’s who he is. He became physically unattractive and his character was disgusting to me when the world found out what he did to Rihanna. That was enough for me to disengage.
Lol so your excuse is "it's all WWE. they're all pretending to be toxic" 😂 sounds like a narrative you're telling yourself so you can listen to this music with a conscience lol.
@ Not what I said at all. You gave a very inaccurate synopsis. I also stated I do not support artist with allegations, therefore I am not listening to Chris Brown. You will not catch R Kelly, Kodak Black, Trey Songz, Fivio Foreign, and a lot of other artists on my playlist either.
That some gotta change to majority.😂 this man Chris brown made a song “these hôes ain’t loyal” and girls was screaming their lungs out. Only one girls ain’t really give a pass was Daniel ceaser
And yet y'all can never apply that same logic to rappers. many, many rappers play a character for the camera, 2Chainz being the biggest example since he outright stated that's a fact. So no you're absolutely just being selective about what you get outraged at. If it's ok for singers to "play" toxic characters, then so can rappers. Stop pretending you're more principled than you are.
TBf, most Chris Brown allegations ended up being proven false, That's why he's still around unlike someone like R. Kelly. He's more like Bobby Brown where he can get a lil crazy but for the most part, he's just chilling only the difference being is that Chris Brown is big enough to suffer from the MJ effect and be a target of any false allegation on the planet. Bobby fell off after his third album.
7:35 😂😂😂😂😂 the advice at the end is sooo harsh but so trueeeeee 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s not gonna change anytime soon… no matter how much you complain about it 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I will say that early days Weeknd was a character that he played. The sounds, lyrics and visuals were all very fine tunely crafted and that's why so many people loved him. Nowadays, people start to question what he's like behind doors (cough cough, cheating and wtf his role in The Idol was supposed to be) but I'll defend his early works and persona
Great video but ppl misconstrued the meaning of Initiation. The Weeknd’s reference to “his boys” is a personification of drugs. He’s not saying she has to sleep with his friends first, he’s saying she has to get high first. It fits the them of all of the Trilogy mixtapes
Why do people care? The women still love them. as a grown ahh man you should worry about who celebrate you and not tolerate you instead of another man's pepe privileges.
everyone has an advantage you just gotta play into yours. if you don't think you have an advantage then enjoy being a loser 😂😂😂😂😂😂 subbing because that was funny
One of the most famous R&B songs ever is “No Scrubs” - a song about women not giving the time of day to poor men. Ariana Grande has plenty of toxic songs. What do u mean? Adele got famous _because_ she was fat and talented
I noticed the same thing, I like misogyny in rap and hiphop because they are aware of it (most of them) like j Cole and Joyner Lucas and Eminem maybe a lot others I don't know..but when I hear it from RnB singers I don't like it, maybe that's me expecting them to be respectful towards women because of how they look and sound ( cognitive illusion) I learnt about that from a book...i still don't understand why girls like them so much. Maybe they don't know how toxic they actually are but their music is great and that's what it's about anyways, just the music and not their personal lives🤔 And I saw a video of an American girl reacting to a South African love song by tellaman, Nasty C and Shekinah, I forgot the title...the lady said that it's and actual love song not like love songs from "here" and then she proceeded to say words like "fvck boys" and even mentioned Bryson Tiller. So maybe they know and they accept it...the boys will grow up someday👍🏿

He is always using the woman he desires in his songs as a comparison to the women he doesn't, and the reason he doesn't want those other women is almost always entirely superficial or judgemental as opposed to having bad character traits.
Thumbnail conveniently doesn’t have Drake
yeah but hes not toxic tho in his songs hes the one getting fucked over
What you said about how the medium that toxicity is shared plays a key role is so spot on. It reminds me of The Weeknd in his show The Idol and how repulsed everyone was by it lol. Like bro literally sings about almost the same stuff his character was acting out🤣 It really lift the veil for me on this subject matter as a woman lmao
This man forgot Giveon, another man with the craziest and mad toxic lyrics.
I find it ironic when people say listening to Sza songs is low vibrational but will blast PartyNextDoor songs every single day. make ot make sense
The weekend is the goat
No because why are the most toxic songs the most popular and catchy songs fr lol I’m glad to see a video about pretty privilege even for men and male rappers because it’s true it does exist. We’re in a moment where “toxic” is hot and trendy which is part of why it does so well
Even if its inevitable that pretty privilige is a thing, the subject you brought to light is better than nothing.
I have a decently pretty voice but I am an ugly mf 😭😭😭 my girl will say otherwise but I know I aint like that 😭😭😭😭
i’m a melanated asian
Nah bro don't do yourself like that
well you just proved the point of the vid didnt ya
what makes you unattractive? go to the gym for 1 year 4-5 days a week nonstop. maybe youll change your mind. get your teeth fixed if they're f'd up. get some retainers if you have a over/under bite. if you have a voice as you say once you commit to those few things youll be a well known melanated asian
@@jaytx9163 oh yeah huh, I did 😭😭😭
Here me out to Lil Wayne
He was that dude back then, and mma y women were ok having his babies
i love this video so much. i knew brent and bryson were toxic but you pointed out exactly how toxic he was
I’m glad you talk about pretty privilege with man.
Chris Brown has so many hits this year and last year bro
They dont care about whats said they care about who is saying it. This goes for many aspects of life and dealing with women
Nah. Not me. I thank God that I woke up to the truth and could NEVER like a toxic man. Just make ZERO SENSE.
@@Caleb6000Bro did not read the comment but was prepared to fight his invisible war anyway 😂
"most talented halftime boxer" is crazyyyyyy😂😂😂😂
I disagree with the idea that “The Weeknd doesn’t get criticized for misogyny” he was ALWAYS criticized for it lol
Nooooo he really wasn't lmfao. And I been bumping since Thursday my boy. Let's be honest now 😂
I mean some of us are smart enough to understand that it's just music. Plus they could be just exaggerating or making up shit like how rappers do.
That some gotta change to majority.😂 this man Chris brown made a song “these hôes ain’t loyal” and girls was screaming their lungs out. Only one girls ain’t really give a pass was Daniel ceaser
Keep lying to yourself
And yet y'all can never apply that same logic to rappers. many, many rappers play a character for the camera, 2Chainz being the biggest example since he outright stated that's a fact. So no you're absolutely just being selective about what you get outraged at. If it's ok for singers to "play" toxic characters, then so can rappers. Stop pretending you're more principled than you are.
I hope that reminder line doesn’t mean what I think it means I’ve been singing the hell outta that song for years
Weeknd 👑
Go tell your friends about it 😅the weeknd
5:46 Part-time boxer is CRAZY 😭
Best video about pretty privilege ever
TBf, most Chris Brown allegations ended up being proven false, That's why he's still around unlike someone like R. Kelly. He's more like Bobby Brown where he can get a lil crazy but for the most part, he's just chilling only the difference being is that Chris Brown is big enough to suffer from the MJ effect and be a target of any false allegation on the planet. Bobby fell off after his third album.
perect comparison, hes like this eras bobby lol
What Chris allegations were proven false? He beat at least two women and both are absolutely true.
@@mechamahou8467most of the allegations against him? 😂
@@zeeb3424 Huh? Most of the allegations of him are about him beating women, which all were proven true lmfao.
@ yeah no, ive seen an article page full of accusations (which almost all of them were proven to be FALSE) 🙂😊
the car seat line is crazy bro lmao, honestly 😭
Part Time Boxer is CRAAAZY 😭
The weeknd has NO BEAUTY PRIVILEGE though
7:35 😂😂😂😂😂 the advice at the end is sooo harsh but so trueeeeee 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s not gonna change anytime soon… no matter how much you complain about it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i saw the thumbnail and read the title and i already knew u cooked with this one bro 😮💨
okay so there's some things that i agree with and some things i don't
I will say that early days Weeknd was a character that he played. The sounds, lyrics and visuals were all very fine tunely crafted and that's why so many people loved him. Nowadays, people start to question what he's like behind doors (cough cough, cheating and wtf his role in The Idol was supposed to be) but I'll defend his early works and persona
Every girl I ever talked to say Brent is ugly
They’d fold in an instant don’t believe what they say
@@michal588you think he getting girls cus of his looks? *in nas voice
songs not called sixteen missed calls and that’s not the corus
Right it’s called lost souls by baby keem
idc I still love Breezy 🥰👋🏽
But he’s a bad person and is colorist and homophobic.
you could put frank ocean and carti in this same category, altho idk if they really pull as much as they claim to in their lyrics
frank ocean gay and carti roster is crazy just rubi rose alone is good
@@Kidzavagefrank is bi 😢

Great video but ppl misconstrued the meaning of Initiation. The Weeknd’s reference to “his boys” is a personification of drugs. He’s not saying she has to sleep with his friends first, he’s saying she has to get high first. It fits the them of all of the Trilogy mixtapes
The fact that a man can maybe get away w almost anything cause of pretty privilege is not a good thing these double standards are atrocious
i thought this would be an actual exploration
6:11 I forgot abt thisss 😭 frank took it so well tho
*takes notes*
Why do people care? The women still love them. as a grown ahh man you should worry about who celebrate you and not tolerate you instead of another man's pepe privileges.
Nah, it's something that should be discussed so we are consciously aware of what's happening. Blissful ignorance is for the weak my boy.
I swear the narrarator in this has such a familiar voice
All I get are free fries…
everyone has an advantage you just gotta play into yours. if you don't think you have an advantage then enjoy being a loser 😂😂😂😂😂😂 subbing because that was funny
It's about Game
But clearly Youonknownunboudat
But every one of these dudes "game" is literally that they're(mostly) light skinned and rich 😂
Bro forgot to mention Lizzo is mainstream female artist. She definitely has pretty privilege
You’re Mainly Talking About Lightskin Privilege Lol 😂
Some females like getting treated like shit tho.
“She don’t wanna b saved
Don’t save her”

What in the gender studies
I keep The Weekend on rotation before I go out lol
one day people will understand the difference between charges and allegations

Bro, with music you listen and vibe. If I want to analyze lyrics I don't have to listen to music.
Chill out bro she’s not going to let u hit
Women who have trauma believe love has to be earned, so they like emotional unavailable men and the idea of working to be the one they change for
“He has 50 million listeners on Spotify” me knowing I’m one of those listeners… 😭😭 I know it’s wrong, I know, but I was raised on CB
video could've been good but it went downhill when he went to double standards
kinda suprised he didnt mention tory lanez or pnd
Promising title, hard copes every 10 secs jfl
Noise in the back
Tbf Bryson Tiller isnt as toxic. Especially compared to Brent or The Weeknd or Drake or Chris Brown or Partynextdoor.
LOL 😂 Honestly, it's our fault that sone if us gets played 😂
5:29 🤨 freudian slip
great video ts is mad true
One of the most famous R&B songs ever is “No Scrubs” - a song about women not giving the time of day to poor men.
Ariana Grande has plenty of toxic songs. What do u mean?
Adele got famous _because_ she was fat and talented
The scene from The Sopranos got me cackling 😭
Women only care about that sort of stuff with regular guys. If the guys famous everything they dislike goes out the window
Good Video
gotta listen to savage anthem by party 😂😂😂
Dawg you not including PartyNextDoor is tragic
If the weeknd was a rapper with those same lyrics
Hed be so disrespected
Good video.
lol this was funny af. Eviscerating the shallow density of these girls in a comedic way!
Don’t forget Tory Lanez lol
So what do SZA be talking about ??😂 she as toxic as them
Didn't sza get one of them'd
Now I get it... fuck it
