I remember seeing Cathy Rich sing a song on the Tonight show accompanied by Doc and the band. The audio guys had her mic as low as they could and drenched with reverb. It was still clear that she was not a good singer. I have always wondered about that-daddy I want to sing on Johnny Carson! But sweetheart..I WANNA SING ON JOHNNY CARSON!! (stamps foot)
Yes, well sometimes the offspring of great artists inherit their parents' talent but very often they really do not. I was engineering a record and somehow the people who were bankrolling the production got Tony Bennett's daughter Antoinette to sing a song. The thinking was having her name on it would be good for sales. She showed up late, and then proceeded to hold up the whole session refusing to sing for over an hour until she had her Danish. The entire executive staff that were present including the owners of the label, their lawyers and the producers all had to wait. We were not a small studio by any means but we didn't usually put out trays of pastries either, so we had to stop everything while somebody went out and got her some. Naturally, she went ahead and made a big stink about it and made sure that everyone knew how greatly disappointed and personally insulted she was over this. She wouldn't even allow the other musicians to play a note until she was ready. Of course when she did finally get on the microphone it was just terrible. I can't say anything about her other work but for this particular situation she really just wasn't right.
wats all this bitching.this is a lovely looking girl with a nice personality and the daughter of the legendary buddy rich.we all want buddys legacy preserving.we must never forget the greatest drummer ever to visit this planet.r.i.p.
@voyeurbill I saw Buddy and his band at Lennie Sogoloff's place on Rt 1, West Peabody, Ma also. He was an original who pulled no punches and damn the naysayers, Buddy Rich was the greatest drummer ever. Still is.
Lot of bad talk about Cathy, I went out with her on a date when we were 17? I just just remember she was fun and really cute I lived in Vegas and she lived in Palm Springs at the time,I would of enjoyed going out with her again.
I met Cathy a couple times, She is actually very attractive in person and fairly nice. Potter is a very good drummer, but he is totally out of place drumming in the buddy Rich Big Band. I was at the very first Buddy Trib concert at the Wilternin LA, The best drummer was the Guy hosting it. Yes the M.c played drums closest to Buddy. all the rest played like themselves in their own style, and sounded out of place. Potter to me sounds like a Hamster.
Did you plays drums professionally ? or have you just come out of the looney asylum . None of them guys ever came close to Buddy , but why should we believe the greats such as Weckl , Gadd , Vinny , and Chambers etc when we can take what you say as law . The great thing about youtube is it allows you access to see things not available elsewhere ....the sad side is once in a while a knobhead appears and makes a stupid comment . Congratulations youve just picked up that award

She was lucky to be beautiful despite a not so good looking father and despite having a resemblance. If I was able, I still could not date Lisa Marie because she looks too much like her father, but Cathy does not.

I saw this young lady at Lennies on the Turnpike in Boston when she was all of 13y/o. Buddy had her sing a song with her friend. It was fun!!!
