Great to see you folks back at it. Nice that you could use your original design and improve on it, I really liked your first place design and it's great to see it's larger relative. MamaWolf
First of all, your design, build is amazing, I can't believe you created the entire tiny house by youself, even if it's a tiny house. Perhaps, when you guys save up enough, you can design / build a tiny, separate greenhouse and start growing your own food. And design a way to capture rain water so water is free. Just a thought.
I appreciate you saying that! We were happy with it! When ended up moving to a place without building codes so we could build the next one a little bigger. And yes a greenhouse is crucial! Welcome to the journey!
We found your channel a while back. So glad y'all are posting more. Our family finally got land and our goal is being off grid, so we are here for y'all's journey and we're cheering you on. 🤎
I found your channel right around the time ya'll were leaving the old property so one of the first videos i saw was the tiny house tour and i think it was an excellent use of space with one exception. I would have put a ceiling up in the utility room under the kitchen floor and cut door access panels in the kitchen floor for storage areas like they do on some sailboats. Would make a perfect pantry area for canned goods etc.
That is a good idea! We did that with the ceilings, that's where I stored my bow and arrows fishing poles things of that nature. We also never got around to framing a door and the second storage area. But it was on the list!
Well hello again Josh and family, good to see all are well. Watched your family build on the mountain first time, so we will watch the next one as well. Subscribed and following. Hope you can get your brother Sam up there to help again. All the best and stay safe!
Welcome back to the journey!! The idea is to start building our next place within the month! But we're going to do it in pieces so the first bit is just going to be a single room so we have somewhere to recreate during the winter.
I loved your Tiny Cabin and your previous Tiny House. If you are still trying to have a 'greenhouse' area inside your new house, look for free used glass shower doors and use them for a large wall to begin your plant starts. I loved your spiral tiered design for the house as it allowed you to go up or down without too steep a ladder/stair, easy for the little ones to handle on their own. Interested to see what yall will build now.
That is the plan! Our new build is going to be done in pieces starting with just a single room after which we will continue to build onto it. I would imagine the greenhouse will be our third edition and hopefully be constructed before next spring!
I think you could build a nice 12 x 12 foot inclosed porch, with a wood box attached to the outside of it. This would be like a second kitchen/den area.
Inclose underneath the house and use as a root cellar. The Boss of the Swamp did that and used a metal tool box to keep any critters out of his cache/food bin.
Josh. I bought this property from you. It’s still a work in progress. Im putting additions on your original footprint. I’ll send you some pictures when I get done.
Its crazy how its still cheaper and fast to build a home your self using new and recycled material then say working two jobs or working overtime...... sometimes its better to invest time on yourself
You are absolutely correct!! I lost my father at age 15 and that was a huge motivating factor to choosing this way of life! ..So I would add one stipulation to your comment, time spent with your family!
We have not, unless they decide to put out a RUclips video on it I don't think anyone will know. It's not the kind of place you can drive by and take a look lol
Dude your not a hillbilly...,looks too nice and correctly built for that. What state is that cause I want to know where your allowed to do what you want. I know you can in parts of Missouri.
That's not the only thing moving. You cannot depend on that foam board insulation to not compress and put the whole framing out of whack. Just not a good build, sorry not sorry
Assuming you ripped all the plywood in half to make it easier to install? And the gaps between plywood seams? Definitely a interesting build being trip level
That is correct LOL I built all this by myself so I couldn't risk getting hurt. Even with a 22 ft ladder I could barely reach the upper portions on the back side.
Good job on this "new" video. I'm getting a kick from watching the number of views climbing steadily. It looks to me like you're averaging about 100 per hour.
Me as well! ..But I also get a kick out of everyone who's upset about it LOL! We spent hundreds of hours filming the build but never got paid for it! Until, hopefully now.
It's all part of running this like a business, I spent hundreds of hours filming this build but I never got paid for it.. hopefully this video will help that balance. As well as reach some of those subscribers who don't know we're back yet.
Haha! We actually made this video several years after everything was filmed.. If I can go back in time I'd stop saying that so much LOL But! It is true! And I am proud of it!

Oh Sam I was so happy to see you there helping with this!
Well , I guess I'll be running the video tonight for the support guys. Adios from middle TN.
Sat. 4:30,. 10,002 that was quick! Congrats!
Yes it was!
Just this single video has made a huge difference to the project.
@@SteepintheWoods that's wonderful, I am glad to hear it!
I'm so happy you're uploading again! I'm a tough ol' root from Washington.

I approve of that! It's the hardest work you'll ever do, but anything's better than following the rest of the sheep over the cliff LOL

Just started following your channel, I like your style, looking forward to future content 👍🏻
Welcome to the Journey!!
Ants love foam so try some bubble foil-wrap and staple it under the sub-floor once the house is dried in.
Did you concret brick pillers?

Well done, Sir.

WOW I didn't realize you moved to KY .. Hey neighbor from Barren and Bullitt County .
i think the house wrap is permeable in one direction / so having the Lowe's insignia reversed may not be a good idea @ 26:32
Where did you learn to build?
I've heard that before too. I'm concerned about a few things in this build.
Inclose underneath the house and use as a root cellar. The Boss of the Swamp did that and used a metal tool box to keep any critters out of his cache/food bin.

Awesome demonstration. Did you fill your cinder blocks with concrete so they won't slip over time?
I hope so and rebar too.
Nothing is up to code
@@wandaeades7274 Wanda, there are no codes where he lives. But he does try to do a good job.
9,990. Yay! Saturday, at 4:25 pm.
By the way, I just subscribed, just found your channel
Welcome to the journey!!
As the intro says, you'll see no fancy stuff here LOL
Is there any concrete in the foundations ???

You did the best you could do with what you had. Grate Job 👍...
👋😊🍰🍹🇺🇸🎉⚡
Don't worry the heavy equipment and all the lumber grows on trees! All you need is a level and you can do this too!
I am watching your video look away for a minute and I see Sam. Did I switch videos to Green Acre Homestead or SamCraft half way through.
No sir, in no way shape or form are our channels anything alike LOL!
You're looking at one rich dude and one poor one.
I thought I was going crazy when I saw Sam😂🇬🇧😊
You might as well have out of nearly 200 videos he's only in a handful.
Sorry but that foundation is prety poor. It may work on flat sandy soil but your mountian is not that. It's going to slide and move alot.
What happened to the last cabin you built with the same foundation
That's not the only thing moving. You cannot depend on that foam board insulation to not compress and put the whole framing out of whack. Just not a good build, sorry not sorry
This ain’t Puerto Rico!
I was like.. wait a min I’ve seen this 😂😂😂

@@SteepintheWoods who is upset about it? You put out a good video and people are watching it like crazy. I'm so happy for you.
That's a custom fit drain pipe.
Why did you repost your old build ?
for all the newbies...and a proud revisit....I'm guessing....always love the videos
Thank you for the reply! We used to have a lady I nicknamed Mrs Claus because of her profile picture. And boy! She was the channel's juggernaut!
It's all part of running this like a business, I spent hundreds of hours filming this build but I never got paid for it.. hopefully this video will help that balance. As well as reach some of those subscribers who don't know we're back yet.
❤❤
Are you Sam's brother?
We sure don’t build poor foundations like that here in the mountain of Puerto Rico. We build deep cement rebar foundation to a cement house
Lol! That's because you're rich and don't know any better
Just in case folks missed it, who designed this tiny house? 😆
Haha! We actually made this video several years after everything was filmed..
If I can go back in time I'd stop saying that so much LOL
But! It is true! And I am proud of it!
The Dunning Kruger effect in action. My sympathies to your wife.
Holy sheet Jethro, the stupid keeps getting worse the longer the video goes on. Again, my condolences to your wife.
My husband is a builder. That house is not safe....especially the railing. It's weak and not secured to anything!
It's a pity he wasn't there with the correct supplies.
