      Same! Just wish I thought of this video sooner, would've been able to grab a few more crossings, but I'm still glad I was able to film this many.

    I remember that some crossings had manual gates and they were black/white striped instead of the red/white ones we see nowadays. Old signal pedestals are still seen along the right of way, but there are newer masts and posts in service.

    Some of them aren’t that old but it’s still cool to see that equipment is still being use there

    Sweet. Especially like the bell combo at the Elberon Station crossing. Great work!

    Great video! love to see these older crossings in action. There was a crossing near me that was being upgraded to the newer style crossing gates a couple of months ago. They literally ripped out the old signals with a front end loader. Fortunately I was able to save one of the bells off of one of the old signals before it was sent to the scrap yard.

    I'm loving the pedestrian crossing gates. We have them all over Northern California. Particularly in Sacramento.

    Nicely done! I noticed the crossing at 7th Ave in Belmar looks as though they have LED's in the 8 inch lights. Will be interesting to see if this is the way they go (as far as any upgrades).

    • @mainlineproductions513
      @mainlineproductions513  4 года назад

      Thanks! Yeah, those LED'S has been in place for a few years. And yeah, it would be cool if they didn't fully upgrade it.

    Do you know if any of these crossings and the signals could be from the CNJ days?

    • @mainlineproductions513
      @mainlineproductions513  4 года назад +1

      I'm not totally sure but if I had to guess, I'd say the crossings with the 8" lights if anything.

    • @freebrickproductions

      These ones do, it appears:
      5:53
      7:14
      8:33
      9:53
      12:10
      14:45
      17:24
      21:52
      23:43
      25:00
      26:12
      30:35
      32:00
      Also, it appears the CNJ was a lot like the L&N and prefered to have the gate mechs on seperate masts.

      @RicardoSantos-il3ee 4 года назад +1

      freebrickproductions Makes sense about the separate masts. Thanks FreeBrick and Main Line! 👍🏻

    is that strictly passenger line only? or shared with freights

    • @mainlineproductions513
      @mainlineproductions513  3 года назад +1

      Passenger trains only on this part of the Coast Line, as well as an overnight equipment move MM08 (can't remember what nights they go down to Bay Head) . Conrail OI-16 uses the Coast line for a couple miles between Perth Amboy and South Amboy on their way to Browns Yard in Sayreville.

    Those crossing signals seem a bit modern to me.

    • @mainlineproductions513
      @mainlineproductions513  3 года назад

      Yeah, some of them are modern than others in the video, or were upgraded overtime. I figured it was worth recording them anyway since they usually go full out when they upgrade most crossings on this line (e-bells, led's, etc.), even though it's more safer.

      @@mainlineproductions513 The New Jersey crossings

    • @mainlineproductions513
      @mainlineproductions513  4 года назад

      In New Jersey, it depends. NJT mostly has mechanical bells like WC Hayes, and Safetran, like in this video. Some of their crossings have also been upgraded with Safetran type 3 e-bells, most of which can also be found on this line. Freight railroads like CSX and NS have different e-bells at a lot of their crossings too. Hope this answers your question.
