Everything the Oracle told Neo came true. He wasn't the One. He was waiting for his next life. Either he or Morpheus was going to die.
Neo died, and in his next life, he was the One.

Even more, The Oracle never actually told Neo whether or not he was the One. She used an old "cold-reading" trick; she got *him* to answer his own question, and then presented his answer as her own. And whatever Neo answered was the truth; if he thought he was the One, he was. He didn't, so he wasn't. Then Trinity believed he was, causing Neo to believe he was, causing him to become the One.
On one level, the entire narrative is about the power of identity and the need to dictate your own.

One of the greatest periods in flm making, those years with the Matrix and Lord of The Rings. Just phenomenal. I literally canvassed everywhere on the internet to find and discuss anything Matrix related. Matrix forums were alive with in-depth discussions of philosophy, religion, the metaphysical...the memories make me smile.

There are lots of movies, some of which are exceptional, but then every now and then a movie comes along and it isn't just exceptional, it .. changes things. Like forever. And there's a 'before' and 'after' that movie came out and every movie that comes out after that movie is forever influenced by it. The Matrix is included in that very short list of movies that 'changed things'. This is why there were so many parodies and imitations of it for years and years. It really was something very different and everyone for a while wanted to be 'the next matrix' or wanted to watch 'the next matrix'. And that's just hard to explain to someone who wasn't there and didn't live it. As the movie said, no one can be told what The Matrix is, you have to see it for yourself.

The Matrix is my personal favorite movie, and I've literally watched it at least 4 times just this year. Every time I watch it, I realize something new. The last time I watched it, I realized why Agent Smith tells the officer that his men are already dead in the beginning of the movie. The agents shapeshift when they sense that a red pill is in The Matrix. Agent Smith already knows that the officers are dead because he did not shapeshift. This is also why Switch pulls a gun on him in the car for protection against Neo. They know they only have a few seconds to react if Neo starts shapeshifting into an agent.

The question of course is why the agents didn't just take over the cops before she killed them, given how there's no range limit and they clearly already knew she was a red pill since they called the cops to stay back.

To understand how the Matrix works, you have to think about it like it's a literal computer. So the main characters are computer programs operating outside of their programming, and the Agents are antivirus software, hunting down rogue programs and deleting them. Every character in the Matrix is some version of computer programming.
Edit: Also, Neo wasn't the one until the end. The Oracle said "Maybe you're waiting on something, your next life perhaps." Neo literally died at the end, and when he was reborn he was born with the knowledge of what the Matrix is (which had never happened before). Trinitys kiss reminded him that it wasn't real and that he existed outside of the Matrix.

On deeper level this movie is a metaphor for the spiritual journey. All the references are there if you bother to look. Most people see this movie only on a surface level. Ai and simulated reality. But we are already in the matrix, the one created by our minds. I myself am on the spiritual path and its true once your eyes have been open to the true nature of our reality there's no going back.

The modern pop-science concept that is *The Simulation Hypothesis,* hypothesis being an unproven idea, does not ever have to make any sense because it just captures the imagination and seems plausible since video games exist, and we want a way to understand that a god or group of gods is actually, somehow involved in every aspect of our day-to-day.
That popular hypothesis arises from *The Matrix,* which is partly based on a bad reading of a bad translation of Jean Baudrillard's *Simulacra and Simulation.*
That's the book Neo has hollowed out in the "White Rabbit" sequence.
The Simulation Hypothesis is a total nonsense, science fantasy story perpetuated to capture the imagination and sell books and lecture tickets and get those clicks. And it is all hypothetical so it never has to make sense and there are many variations on what it wwould actually mean.
*Simulacra and Simulation" actually refers to each individual brain, or any other type of experiencer, like a computer, as running its own imperfect and incomplete simulation of real reality.
Your own brain simulates your personal perception of reality.
The Hindu faith calls the view that everyone sees their own different version of a real reality disguised by personal perception: The Veil of Maya.
If there was actually a simulation to produce and uniquely operate every human brain... and the rest of the universe, it would require infinite energy and infinite, error-free coding, and it would require an expenditure of infinite energy every two femtoseconds - which is every four Planck seconds for those who need that kind of accuracy - and it would have to operate faster than light to maintain orderly structure relative to lightspeed.
Don't worry, it is very unlikely that we are actually in a simulation like this movie suggests.
A far more likely reason for a "Matrix" situation, with the fields of humans concept, would be that the robots were keeping humankind alive till the skies cleared and crops could be grown and life could thrive on the surface, again.
No sun, no photosynthesis, no plants, no animals to that must eat plants.
We would then have to assume a Noah's Ark Matrix of Animals must also exist.
    And plant seed banks.
    They are keeping humanity alive.

The matrix was much more than just ahead of its time. The deeper meaning to much of the film escaped many people who watched it. @@xenabreacts all three films are really good, ghost in the shell is probobly the most known one, and the visually most simular to matrix.
The other two dark city is probobly the more known coming out a year a head of matrix.
13th floor is the lesser known but to my opinion the one that got the concept the most flushed out. The irony of it is that 13 floor is kind of the most "normal" movie vissualy and despite its a real mind f*cl movie, it have a really simple storey that is really simple to follow.
None of the movies is really action movies, but ghost in the shell is the most action like. Really matrix is very simular to it in several was despite that the story is very diffrent.
I'm talking about the 1995 ghost in the shell. Personally I'm not a anime purist so I really think there is nothing wrong with the english dubbed. It make it easier to follow the storry that really need quite a bit of brain power.
Bur all three movies are solid, so either one is a good chocie.
What I will say its that other reaction channels are all over ghost in the shell. Dark city quite a few have watched. So 13th floor is sort of a sleeper. I seen nobody watching that movie.

Enjoyed your reaction. Savor this movie because, IMO, the sequels don't do it.

@@xenabreacts absolutely. Raid 2 is probably the best action movie of all time.(subtitles, but it doesn’t matter) it’s that good. John Wick used some of the Raid characters and inspiration.

So the Oracle didn't see Ralph betraying them? What a hooa.

  • @itt23r
    @itt23r Год назад +1

The oracle told Neo that he had the gift but he wasn't the one. Then she said he was waiting for something, his next life perhaps. And then she said either he or Morpheus was going to die and it was all up Neo who it would be.
And then it all came true. Neo ended up being the one who died, by his own choice. And didn't become the One until his next life.
Word of warning. This is the only movie in the franchise worth watching. It ends with 1,000 possibilities as to what it all means. But the sequels focus on only one and the stupidest possibility at that. So if you don't want to have this movie spoiled steer clear.
look instead at two movies that have similar themes, and both made before the MATRIX which was obviously inspired by both. They are John Carpenters, THEY LIVE and Oliver Stone's epic masterpiece JFK which delves into the real Matrix. You'll thank me if you do.
