  • Riding Los Angeles Metro Busway G Line (or Orange Line) Eastbound (bus model: 2019 New Flyer XE60) from Chatsworth Station to North Hollywood (full eastbound ride). Metro Busway (formerly branded as Metro Liner or Metro Transitway) is a bus rapid transit (BRT) line, a bus that has it's own dedicated bus lane and station. Los Angeles Metro operates two Busway Lines, G (Orange) and J (Silver). The G Line travels through the San Fernando Valley (northwest of Los Angeles). Second Busway, J Line travels mostly on I-10/I-110 (east to South Central Los Angeles).
G Line is one of the most use BRT lines in North America. In the future, Metro is planning to convert G Line Busway into a light rail line (soon to be Metro Rail G Line).
As of 2023, the G Line operates 24 hours and the full fare to ride this Busway is $1.75. Before boarding the bus, there is a fare card reader and a ticket vending machine. I have tapped my Metro Tap Card on the fare reader before entering the station. If you do not have a Tap Fare Card, tickets are available for purchase on the ticket vending machines or Los Angeles Metro App. When the bus arrives, passengers can board in front or back of the bus since it is a BRT (a bus that acts like a train). Sometimes, there may be a fare inspector checking for tickets. For more information about Los Angeles Metro fares, visit their webpage at www.metro.net/riding/fares/
    * North Hollywood Station-
G Line terminates/starts at North Hollywood Station. At North Hollywood Station, transfer to Metro Rail B Line (or Red Line) to:
    - Universal Studios Hollywood
    - Hollywood Walk of Fame
    - Griffith Observatory (via a shuttle bus)
    - MacArthur Park
    - Downtown Los Angeles
    - Union Station
The full ride between North Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles on a Metro Rail B Line is around 30 minutes.
    Opinion:
I enjoyed riding the G Line Eastbound to North Hollywood. It is a true bus rapid transit with it's dedicated bus lanes and stations. Metro made an excellent choice in purchasing the New Flyer XE60 (electrical bus) as their vehicle type. Since the light rail and heavy rail line uses electricity, why not the Busway lines too (keeping vehicles in consistent and uniformed)?
My only complaint about G Line is crossing through a major street or boulevard. The bus makes a complete stop at a major street/boulevard. Sometimes, it takes 2-5 minutes for the bus to continue crossing over the intersection and then stopping at station to load/unload passengers. If building an elevated station/ramp, this would save 5 minutes per stop (thus traveling between Chatsworth to North Hollywood would be a 30 minutes ride instead of 1 hour).
Other than that, it is a pretty good and solid BRT line. And yet, one of the highest used BRT in North America. A BRT should have it's own dedicated bus lanes and not shared/mixed with traffic (or main lanes).

Again, great video man! This is actually similar to the South Dade TransitWay in Miami but they are doing a SMART project to convert it into a real BRT, just like in Houston or Hanoi. I hope you have more of this. Have a great weekend!
    As always, God Bless America!

Been noticing a lot of the electric bus on the G line are not in service lately and Metro instead operates a regular 40ft bus on the G line on select trips. Out of the 40 units they are less than half running in service today. Any idea why they are not running lately?

Really interesting I thought the G line had priority at stoplights but I guess that wouldn’t be sensical with all of the intersections it has to pass through

It’s to offset the abysmal amount of homeless pissing and fighting with themselves on the buses 😂
