Okay, I get what you’re saying… I have a question, what is the difference between stretching and torque to yield? I ask because I understand that after a bolt has been pushed to torque to yield that bolt should never be used again. You are saying that a stretched bolt can be used again.

Yes, you can reuse a bolt after it's been properly stretched. As long as it hasn't been over stretched, it should go right back to original dimensions.

Because your not worried about torque is there any reason why you couldn't just continue tightening until you get your desired stretch measurement? I've done plenty of torque via stretch in the past but never with tiny motor bolts - its all been big industrial stuff, mostly steam turbines

Yes, you can do it that way, but my stretch gage won't hold itself on the bolt. It makes it tough to manage.

Ste stock 3/8 might be but thses are completely different animal.
Arp requires at least 75ftlbs for the 2000 series 7/16 bolts. The nuts un stock 3/8 rod bolts are 45lbs.
