Actually, we have found that sometimes females do act dominant and appear to be mating. Also, did I miss the part about the shape of the vent? I have heard a smiley face is female. Also, I have heard hip spacing can be used, as larger space between the legs is needed if an egg is to come out.

I have males that are missing feathers on the back of their heads, like they're being mated. And females have had the foam come out when I squeezed the goody boxes. I am so confused. Just when I think I have my birds separated I fi d eggs in my male cage. What am I doing wrong?

Also, when you say that foam doesn't occur in females - it does - when they've been mated!

You say 'in all varieties' but that's not true. Unless you mean colours, not species
