I swear the bosses were all breaking the fourth wall and talking to Phil during the playthrough "You can fail, that's ok. It's the best you can do under the circumstances."
Try this one on for size from the opening cutscene: "I will keep on killing you, again and again. I'm your future: an eternity of slow painful deaths."
5 years later and this is still one of my favorite TIHYDPs. Phil getting torn open by a hard as hell indie game (that may or may not have led to him cutting indie games from his schedule entirely) never gets old.
2:00:53 "The kind of gamer I am..." Welp there you have it, folks. If you're a gamer like Phil, you need checkpoints in your boss fights or else the game is an archaic piece of crap. It's not even that checkpoints are bad, it's that Phil wants checkpoints at each phase of ONE boss fight. How dumb is that?
Can't stand how he's always gotta try and act like the leading authority when it comes to what makes for good game design or not. My sick curiosity would absolutely LOVE to see what type of game Phil would make if he knew how. No counting on that though because he doesn't even know how to use simple movie editing software.
A game with no difficulty, that constantly holds your hand, always warns you about what's about to happen, and tells you exactly how to beat the enemy in giant bold letters
After playing the game I watched the whole thing: It doesn't matter what game he plays, if he plays offline or online, direct inputs or queue'd inputs: he will aways say "THE GAME DROPPED MY INPUT" Always.
Not to defend him because he's trash, but if he's using a wireless controller on a TV then there could be some input lag. But even with input lag and a shitty controller, somebody who isn't cancer could beat the game.
Black Iron Tarkus Good point. Speaking of him being incompetent there were several parts in the video where he said he dodged but in reality he was Still Shooting. @dsp there's a difference between pressing X and holding a direction on the analog stick
I have the feeling that in Phil's mind, a checkpoint means "I hit him and took a bit of health off, CHECKPOINT!" and not "I just completed a phase of the fight, CHECKPOINT!"
So when he's comparing Dark Souls 3 to Furi, he brings up how in DS3 there's a half hour of fighting varied regular enemies to break up the grueling boss fights, whereas Furi just has boss fights... Correct me if I'm wrong, but during the Looking Glass Knight boss fight in Dark Souls 2, wasn't he complaining about having to fight the horse-headed statues on the run to the boss? And that run is *nothing* by Souls standards compared to other bonfire placements. Yet he complained and whined. Constantly. If you're going to lie, Phil, at least put more effort into it than you do your gameplay.
We clearly need an "I dodged!" counter, for anytime he says something like "I dodged!" or "I pressed X!" or something like that. 44:15 Wait, what the hell happened there?! How did he lose two lives at once?! Anyone know? 1:34:00 Oh yes, it's HER turn
You know, the initial fights made me think Phil turned over a new leaf. He started saying what he should have been saying since the very beginning: "I dodged/parried/attacked too early/late. I screwed up that phase. That loss was MY fault." Well, not in those words exactly, but Furi doesn't fuck around with its controls. There's almost nothing for him to complain about because Furi gives his bullshit complaints no purchase. It's too well made. ...Key word being almost. **facepalm** Goddammit Phil...
"I can't even get to the final form" and that is why there are no checkpoints, the challenge is beating the boss with only 3 attempts per phase, if you just get to start at the end it cuts 75% of the skill and difficulty out of the fight dsp's attitude toward games is so childish, he never wants to be punished only rewarded. something that has really left a mark on gaming a negative mark.
In many rougelike games, there's this thing called permadeath. Basically, if you die, you have to start ALL over. No checkpoints, full restart. DSP really has no room to complain about checkpoints.
FFS Phil this is literally the 1st time i've even seen this game and even then i can tell you have to pick and choose when to shoot the 3rd boss, he practically spells it out to you. I think this is one of the main reasons he always gets recked like this; patience is just some bizarre alien concept to him.
I got stuck on The Line on normal mode so instead of whining endlessly I turned down the fucking difficulty to enjoy the game on my level of skill. Furi is a fantastic game and after seeing this I have confidence that I can beat the game because I sure as shit am not about to be as bad as DSP
Why does he ALWAYS blame something else for his own failures? You get better by focusing on your failures and working to improve them, not be complaining and passing the blame. Failure is the first step on the path to mastery.
2:02:52 Ah, The Rock eye roll was priceless. 2:02:55 Nah, he did not just say I found some free time? Phil got a lot of nerve saying that he always has free time!
I have to admit, I was impressed when Phil actually got past the first character/boss or something. Usually Phil fucks up at least once even early on, this time he actually managed to catch on. Could it be that Phil is actually getting... *better?* Albeit not by much, at least he somehow managed to be taught something and retain it for longer than five seconds this time. I mean, he's still shit, but at least he's a shit that can learn. Almost.
I just started playing this game now because I had PS Plus and downloaded it beforehand, just to see how far I could make it into the game. I stopped after reaching and playing the 5th boss, the Hand, but what really surprised me is how long it took me to get there. I think I played it for nearly 3 hours and I only got 3 game overs, one with the Strap and two with the Hand. I didn't think I could beat the Scale in one try but somehow I did...maybe I had a little more skill than Phil ever had. I can't believe he kept getting his arse handed to the 4th boss, when I played it the fight was a bit easier than he was making it out to be. I'm done for now, but I'm willing to go further and beat this game...only to prove to myself that I am better than Phil.
I know very little about this, as I've never played it. I would also suck at it, but looking at this, even I can see what he's doing wrong, and that's somewhat depressing.
Ya know, Furi is a hard game. Furi is not THIS hard of a game. For those watching this , know 2 things. One, this game’s controls are super tight and responsive. Two, the parry window is actually pretty forgiving.
Wonder what his reaction would of been if he did that part only to realise theirs another phase after that in melee range.. and she's invisible and you have the same health leftover from her bullet hell phase.
And then you have people like Elajjaz who breeze through the game (for the most part, only 1 boss gave him trouble, one Phil never reached) on Furier (Hard mode).
Let's just be fucking real even if he defeated the burst he would have ragequitted at The Edge the best strategy for him is to perfectly parry his attacks which DSP fails at it spectacularly and unlike the other bosses this guy can delay his attacks making him unpredictable.
Furi, on its normal difficulty, is really easy when you finally get the hang of it. I managed to clear the whole game on my second playthrough, without getting a single game over. But on furier difficulty, the bosses are a whole different story and do give a nice challenge. On furier, the final boss after the credits, is a complete bitch to beat. Especially if you're trying to S rank it, like I have.
I feel it's only appropriate for me to come here and watch this since I recently beat Furi today. Definitely one of the toughest games I've beaten all year (especially against the final boss).
Phil complaining about checkpoints, somehow it never occurs to him that you get checkpoints at the start of each boss. If he had his way every game would be like Fable 2/3, you revive immediately with no penalty and not a single second of progress lost.
50:43 actually you are supposed to dodgeto the boss on this attack he was just too close to him and dodges too early 2:07:20 saying that agame is an indie game is not much of a excuse anymore since dust an elysian tale being made by 1 person and multiple other indie games being enormous and having more gameplay variaties
I just recently got this game on the Switch! Haven't beaten it yet at the time I write this (I just beat the Burst, so now I'm farther than he wishes he were), but it was a lot of fun! And from what I've seen, I've actually been playing better than DSP here! I only Game Over'd once (The Scale), but this game is challenging, but it's also very rewarding when you finally overcome it! But then again, DSP doesn't care about any of that, now does he? Seriously, he parries badly and dodges straight into enemy fire! And has he ever used the charge shot or the charged slash at any point (aside from the tutorial)? -_-
- "I'm gonna get frustrated and impatient and that will not allow me to concentrate..." - DSP dropping some truth in there... BUT it's HIS fault. He is the one that rages, gets frustrated and impatient. HE has to improve (the game is a machine) but he won't. - That's also his problem with fighting games: he can't have patience and when the opponent sneaks in a combo he loses his shit...
DSP's fails are always good to come back to. "A checkpoint is when you restart there infinitely." You mean at the start of that boss fight? If the game had no checkpoints, you would be at the very start of the game when you ran out of lives. I understand that it's probably much more frustrating with the Burst than almost any other boss. She spends a lot of time running away and she has a one-hit kill. But again, DSP's main obstacle was himself. I've seen other LPers ace this stage. When it comes to the dodging, I really think DSP just wasn't doing it properly. Since the Stranger always runs, other players space themselves from the waves so that they have time to move in the right direction and THEN dodge.
to be fair. i got this cannot beat boss 3. but i admit boss 3 is sick. you are fighting yourself cant you see? i stopped and was like whoa... i am. then realized u can do charge shots. i already knew of charge dash from boss 1.
Jesus, I could make an apartment complex out of all those attack windows
...okay wow. That was an impressive play on words.
And then your building would shatter like glass
I bought this game after seeing this video and it's excellent. Phil has gaming abilities equal to a wet wipe.
I am so happy this game destoryed DSP, you can't cheese it with Furi.
Honestly you can with some bosses
I swear the bosses were all breaking the fourth wall and talking to Phil during the playthrough
"You can fail, that's ok. It's the best you can do under the circumstances."
Yeah. I'd say that quote fits Phil like a glove.
Try this one on for size from the opening cutscene:
"I will keep on killing you, again and again. I'm your future: an eternity of slow painful deaths."
Phil: "This fight is bullshit! I dunno what to do! This isn't fair"
Burst: No one said we had to play fair.
"You are fighting yourself, can't you see?"
Nothing more accurately describes Phils RUclips career.
5 years later and this is still one of my favorite TIHYDPs. Phil getting torn open by a hard as hell indie game (that may or may not have led to him cutting indie games from his schedule entirely) never gets old.
I loved Furi; I don't know if I can handle watching this. "I PRESSED DODGE!" incoming
2:00:53 "The kind of gamer I am..."
Welp there you have it, folks. If you're a gamer like Phil, you need checkpoints in your boss fights or else the game is an archaic piece of crap.
It's not even that checkpoints are bad, it's that Phil wants checkpoints at each phase of ONE boss fight. How dumb is that?
Brie no.20 he is not a gamer! He is a brain dead 34 years old man wanna be gamer but failed terribly !
Funny thing is you do get checkpoints for each phase but they are limited to 3 and that's not enough for Phil lmfao
DAAADGE! DADGE! NO DADGE! CAN'T DADGE! NO DADGE AGAIN!
Did he bind it to a voice command? It's the only explanation.
L O L - I was going to make the comment "He realizes he needs to press the button, right?" but this was way better
50:43 is the best edit in a a TIHYDP i have seen in a while.
"I can be amazing at any game if I try"
"I'm one of the best gamers in the country"
lmao
Having just beat it, I would've loved to see how DSP would react when fighting The Edge. I can imagine all the "I tried to parry!" comments.
We can't have it all I suppose :(
The Chain was right - He was broken, and sent back to his cell. Thx based Chain
Can't stand how he's always gotta try and act like the leading authority when it comes to what makes for good game design or not. It doesn't matter what game he plays, if he plays offline or online, direct inputs or queue'd inputs: he will aways say
"THE GAME DROPPED MY INPUT"
Always.
This is one of the few games that you can't fault the controls on and yet he does it anyway
DSP is such cancer
Not to defend him because he's trash, but if he's using a wireless controller on a TV then there could be some input lag. But even with input lag and a shitty controller, somebody who isn't cancer could beat the game.
Jam B I've played the game countless times with a wireless controller and there is no input lag, Phil's just an incompetent numpty.
Black Iron Tarkus Good point. Speaking of him being incompetent there were several parts in the video where he said he dodged but in reality he was Still Shooting. @dsp there's a difference between pressing X and holding a direction on the analog stick
Jam B during the scale, he kept pressing parry and then screaming about it not dodging as well...
i play the game with an steam link, so i stream it on my tv via internet, so input lag is not so an problem, bcs i was doing fine :D
Few things please me more than a rage filled DSP.
Mm hmm. I feel you.
remember everyone, he's one of the best overall gamers in the country.
He can be good if he wants to, I guess he just... doesn't want to.
I have to keep reminding myself this is an adult
It's amazing how no matter what game he plays, the dodge and parry buttons never work
Over 2 hours of a sad man complaining about the unresponsive controls in one of the tightest, most responsive games in recent memory.
Of course, its his brain not the game. Everyone except DSP realizes this. Phil has the reflexes of a rock.
I think the delay on the dodge was intentional though. But other than that, great game
@@intellygent-alienking5651 The dodge is supposed to set off when you release the button. So yeah, it's pretty much intentional.
@@cyberlof4135 I actually had no idea that's how it functioned lol
@@intellygent-alienking5651 Well charging the dodge does exist.
I have the feeling that in Phil's mind, a checkpoint means "I hit him and took a bit of health off, CHECKPOINT!" and not "I just completed a phase of the fight, CHECKPOINT!"

Another Blackmere video? Dreams do come true!
"I don't know her attacks so I can't parry them"
nigga just close your eyes, there's a sound cue

Phil, it's 2016. You should be competent on at least ONE game by now
You'd think that wouldn't you. Phil fails horribly at childrens titles though so......I don't think it'll ever happen.
You missed a golden opportunity for the piccolo "DODGE!!!!!"
God he plays every game like he's never touched a video game before
"I can't even get to the final form" and that is why there are no checkpoints, the challenge is beating the boss with only 3 attempts per phase, if you just get to start at the end it cuts 75% of the skill and difficulty out of the fight dsp's attitude toward games is so childish, he never wants to be punished only rewarded. something that has really left a mark on gaming a negative mark.

DSP really has no room to complain about checkpoints.
I just lost it when I saw "DSP Mode" x'D
I know it's not the actual case, but I like to think they made this mode specially for fat shits like DSP :'D
But what else could the DSP stand for? :D
How can he be so fucking self-unaware that he didn't even comment on the coincidence?
I have no idea, but then again, he's DPS. What else to expect? :D
It's actually called "Promenade". The "DSP Mode" thing was just a joke for this TIHYDP.
Not that it isn't funny as all hell
I like that he reviews a game that he didn't even finish.
Ikr
FFS Phil this is literally the 1st time i've even seen this game and even then i can tell you have to pick and choose when to shoot the 3rd boss, he practically spells it out to you.

Why does he ALWAYS blame something else for his own failures? You get better by focusing on your failures and working to improve them, not be complaining and passing the blame. Failure is the first step on the path to mastery.
Fury is one of the few games that gave me a decent chalange in a long time. I don't want stupid chack points.
Phil: I PRESSED THE DODGE BUTTON WTF?! THE GAME IS BROKEN!
Me: you DID press the dodge button...2 seconds too late
2:02:52 Ah, The Rock eye roll was priceless. 2:02:55 Nah, he did not just say I found some free time? Phil got a lot of nerve saying that he always has free time!
1:50:11 Sadistics like to inflict pain on other not themselves... Masochist I believe is what you're looking for...

I swear to god I am shit at this game but so much of his gameplay and commentary just aggravates me to the point of distraction.
I love those parts when Phil's voice is slowed down! It sounds so hilarious and weird!
Take a shot every time:
*presses dodge too late*
"DASH DIDN'T COME OUT WHAT DA FUQ"
DO NOT DO THIS! YOU WILL DIE OF ALCOHOL POISONING!
Watching this again in 2021, just the mention of "KOGaming" made me Burst out laughing.

"tried to dodge"
His epitaph
Loved the "Twisted Tokyo" theme of SMT4 Apocalypse that you inserted in the "intermissions" of the comments of our dear, dear friend
Ya know, Furi is a hard game. Furi is not THIS hard of a game. For those watching this , know 2 things. One, this game’s controls are super tight and responsive. Two, the parry window is actually pretty forgiving.
Phil didn't even finish the damn game, and that's a shame. Missing out on a indie GOTY.
Except the final boss. Fuck that shit.
Ahahaha, it took me a while to beat The Star too. Once you figure out that the beam attack is a thing it becomes more manageable
Lesser Dog It's just so different to the rest of the game. Least favourite boss for me.
***** Yeah, very jarring at first. The game ventured close to bullet hell but never completely goes there until her- it, whatever.
*talks about my life for 30 minutes*
Alright now lets play this Tronesque Game!!!
Dsp this review is just all excuses you just sucks amid it
Wonder what his reaction would of been if he did that part only to realise theirs another phase after that in melee range.. and she's invisible and you have the same health leftover from her bullet hell phase.
The last boss after you defeat all the guardians is difficult af. I'd love to see him try and fight it.
How DARE DSP butcher Open Your Heart with his... "singing"!
1:45:39 Phil: Oh look, she glitched!
The Burst: No one said we had to play fair!
LMAO
When I play this game, even if I do get really angry I'll just remember him and stop

His "review" TL;DR: Game was too challenging for me, so I ragequit.
Starting strong with an awesome soundtrack. Nice.
that chicken noise
1:06 LMFOO Dsp mode lol i thought that was real for a moment lol
I feel it's only appropriate for me to come here and watch this since I recently beat Furi today. Definitely one of the toughest games I've beaten all year (especially against the final boss).
I wonder if in one of those days DSP sees a "press any button" screens and he presses the ON/OFF button and goes "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? that's boolshit"
Another game rage quitted. Phil obviously never change, does he?
Phil complaining about checkpoints, somehow it never occurs to him that you get checkpoints at the start of each boss.
If he had his way every game would be like Fable 2/3, you revive immediately with no penalty and not a single second of progress lost.
lol DSP mode
The soundtrack is so amazing
People talking about this guy, but he's actually performing far better than the average player.
amazing tihydp man.
may I ask how did you edit the difficulty words in the beginning to say dsp mode?
Yeah that was well done. Looked exactly like it was in the game.
Yeah that was well done. Looked exactly like it was in the game.
I only got to the start of the scales in the video and I am already in immense pain.
19:20 - this guy's been watching Philberts lets plays.
Hallelujah indeed. Jesus Christ that boss fight went on forever.
24:31 I'm dead
50:15 Gotta say, quite impressed he pulled that.
Dust was amazing! I was shocked how great that game was, and from only one person! o_o
your perception skills are fucking phenomenal
I tried some bosses on Furier... The Line and The Edge .... damn so so hard. And i dont dare fighting The Song, The Burst and The Star :P
Great video, love the editing alot.
Jesus christ. The time it took him to beat the hand, I had already beaten the scale and the hand,
i laughed so fucking hard at "dsp mode" well done
when you think he's getting the place of the game, and understanding it, he makes sure to show he doesn't
Aghhh bahhhhhk, with the rooster picture got me realllll good. To fucking funny brah!
I just recently got this game on the Switch! Haven't beaten it yet at the time I write this (I just beat the Burst, so now I'm farther than he wishes he were), but it was a lot of fun!

-_-
I PRESSED DODGEEEEEE! Phil needs to learn from Daigo, because he can't parry for shit.
''If you gonna make it that difficult, you gotta have checkpoints''. Tell that to dark souls series. :D
he sucks at those too, he suck at LITERALLY everything not just games.
- "I'm gonna get frustrated and impatient and that will not allow me to concentrate..."
- DSP dropping some truth in there... BUT it's HIS fault. He is the one that rages, gets frustrated and impatient. HE has to improve (the game is a machine) but he won't.

I thought this would be some kind of LTG thing based on the title.
I love your editing :)
That Valhalla music at the begining. love it
>DSP Mode
I lost it
big white flash signifying parry timing.
'Oh my gawd i don't know how to parry it!'
-_____-
Seriously??
Review: "I sit at home all day playing *games,* I don't have TIME to spend an hour on a boss!"
Game Over Jingle #9 was from Street Fighter X Tekken, I believe.
i did actually have some problems with dodging sometimes but that was only on like 4 occasions though
to be fair. i got this cannot beat boss 3.
but i admit boss 3 is sick. you are fighting yourself cant you see?
i stopped and was like whoa... i am.
then realized u can do charge shots. i already knew of charge dash from boss 1.
Oh God. DSP is gonna get absolutely destroyed
