Choosing to upgrade or not is really a personal decision. Some things to consider are :- How much do you use your software and do you enjoy the process. What are your current computer specs and what operating system are you using. While V8 is still working fine on Windows 11 this may not always be the case. In V8 the Corel version that runs Art Canvas is not upgraded for Windows 11 so at some stage that part of the software may stop working. Check the computer system requirements for V9 on the Bernina website to see if your current computer will run V9. In theory you could keep V8 running on a computer running Windows 10, but after 14 October 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows 10. Your PC will still work, but it would not be safe to use it to access the internet. The new features in V9 are outlined in the release notes which you can access via the Bernina website. So far Bernina has allowed owners of the software to upgrade from a few versions back, but this may not always be the case. If you love using the software, but don't think V9 is offering you anything you need, you could take the risk of waiting for V10 to see what that offers, but it may mean you have to purchase it outright which won't save you any money in the long run. And life is short. Choose your priorities according to what makes your life better and what you can afford.

For now I will stick with what I have, as it appears I may have to upgrade computers sooner than I had anticipated. I’ll save my money for that! Version 8 is plenty for what I do at this time. I still enjoy learning all that I can accomplish with what I have. Your videos are so inspiring. Grateful to be one of your You tube students.
