I remember seeing Purple Rain at the drive-in theater in 1984....it was mind blowing. There's no one else even close to what Prince was. He's simply "One of a Kind"...he absolutely broke the mold....
PRINCE was a phenomenal guitar player. This media had/has uploads of Prince playing with other artists and he blows out the scene. When you see these videos and hear PRINCES' guitar work, you see him from a totally different place. It's worth the time to watch all the videos with PRINCE that you can find. His performance of PURPLE RAIN at the SUPERBOWL Halftime, in the pouring rain gives me chills. It is outstanding! I never tire of watching it. PURPLE RAIN, the movie, is iconic. You can't forget when it came out and going to the movie theater to see it. The Oscars did a segment from PURPLE RAIN. Every body stood up, everybody was singing - it was awesome. It is a tragedy he passed as he did. The elevator he was in kept going because it didn't have the floor he was going to - straight up to Heaven. RIP PRINCE May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him 🙏❤
Yes I agree. His life is laid out in his lyrics - when he was in love, or angry, and fighting with his record company, when he lost his baby - he wrote about everything.
I feel you can see someone in their music more than their appearance , Prince (like me) was a very quiet self kept man and yet his songs are so loud and fun , shows his true personality imo :)

The first time I was ever stopped in my tracks by a guitar solo was with Let's Go Crazy. Take being the best of being a favorite out of it, then it comes down to this: he spoke a language in his playing that no other guitar player in music history spoke.

Those colours i briefly saw were Lovesexy pink, and Diamonds and Pearls yellow. But Prince tended to get new guitars for his outfits, not just paint the old one. So he said in an interview anyway (guitar magazine about 1993-ish)
Saw this in person yesterday. Looks a bit smaller in person than you would think from the pics and videos of him with it. They have a replica on display in front of the glass case where the real one lives. Brought back memories of a simpler time, for me anyway,. Music was evolving and Prince was a huge part of it. Real people playing. Few if any drum loops in music as a whole. It feels like that is making a bit of a comeback so hopefully today's artist will find the right balance between current technology and old school musicians. Here's to future lol.
I know it’d be totally unprofessional, but how do people who work with that guitar resist the urge to pick it up, plug it in, strap it on and sneak a quick jam?

I love Prince but the dude talking , not so much. I think it’s silly to work that hard in order to look like you don’t care how you look. Prince doesn’t need all the embellishments, his work speaks for it self.
