We have used that type of crab trap many times, never thought of putting the cork at the top of the lines. Great idea!!! Gonna steal that idea, okay? Loved the video.
The cork works great so you don't push the crab out of the trap when pulling back. I actually was a viewer who gave me the idea. Thanks again for Watching Joyce
This time it's not about how many you caught. It's about the fun you had and showing us how to go crabbing in different places. Nice job. And I agreed, Joyce does have a little kid in her.🙃🙃🙃
Right, we used to go there years ago, sometimes it's nice not to deal with the boat and just crab. We also enjoy watching you and your family, great videos we've been a subscriber for a while. Over the west coast now going to see if I can find those jumbos again tomorrow. Nice hearing from you Mike
Glad you enjoy our videos. We're originally from New Jersey (40 years ago), we used to crab a lot but the season was too short. Thanks a lot for Watching our videos
Hey young old couple! Always love your videos. Sometimes you do same to crab at the most dangerous places around. It must be worth it to catch the big ones though. Bless you folks
We're still looking for a good spot to crab from shore because a lot of people don't have a boat. We'll have to do a bread video. Always nice hearing from you Alice
Hello from NJ. Another great video. I will be down in your old stomping grounds around Mays Landing this coming week. Hopefully to catch some blues and maybe a few fish.
Love the channel!! Reminds me of younger days here in Louisiana!!! Going to have to buy some nets and do again!! Didn’t realize how much I missed it till I seen you two!!🇺🇸🙏🏻
Be careful at this spot. It looks like a good place for gators. I think Joyce changed her mind about telling you not to wipe your hands on your britches when you said you would wipe your hands on her shirt. lolol The way Sam throws the ring traps in the water I bet he is good at horseshoes. Always looking forward to your new videos. Thank you all for sharing. Be safe from Tennessee.
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors wow thank you for replying i love watching all your videos new subscriber here and i watch even the old videos. Please keep posting🥰
Guys, thanks for posting these little areas around your home for crabbing from shore. Not everyone has a boat, or a center console with a non-carpeted floor that can wander around the river like you two do all the time. I'm driving down from Canada in a couple of months and have been looking for these locations to catch a few of Florida's big blue crabs. By the way, I know that a recreational crabber is limited to 5 crab pots, but this same limit apply to the ring nets too? I couldn't find anything about it in the rules.
I don't think there's a limit, we sometimes use 8 traps and handlines combined but there's two of us. If you want to make sure, call FWC and ask for an officer to call you back I do it all the time, That's the only way to get a correct answer don't ask whoever answers the phone because they're often wrong.
Thank you, yes we go shrimping it just happens we were over the Big Bend area this week catching 8 inch super jumbo shrimp with a cast net. It will be in an upcoming video. Thanks again for Watching our videos
Love your videos. Would love to take my daughters here. We are in Orlando. Can you please provide more details on direction where this is located at tomoka basin? Thanks
Love your videos. Want to take my daughters to do this. We are in Orlando. Can you give more specifics areas of where this is at in tomoka basins. Thanks
Most of the time it is, just be careful of the traffic, tell the Ranger where you're going and he'll tell you if it's ok. Hope you catch a lot of crabs.
I crabbed once during a rainstorm in Grand Isle, Louisiana and there were some really big crabs biting. So l stayed out with my nets. It's only water, no lightning.
We don't mind rain but out in a boat you have to watch out for the wind it can start blowing 40mph in no time it's happened to us before. Sounds like you have a great crabbing spot.
Hi guys. This is exactly what I was thinking of doing tomorrow. Great video. I love tomoka state park. I fish out side the park on those dirt trails that run off the main roads . Haven't done much good with crabs there but I know at times they fun good. I notice you always have a burlap bag covering the crabs. Does that keep them better when there out of the water? And do you wet it with salt water first? Thanks for the video......
I usually wet the bag and put it on top of them after we pull our commercial pots because we don't use ice. Over Tomoka we use ice because we open the cooler a lot and put the bag on top of the ice so the crabs don't get into the ice water and drown. Always nice hearing from you
I need to try this. The bad is living in the middle of Florida it`s about 100 miles in any direction to Saltwater. Enjoyed it
Give it a try Chuck it's a lot of fun. Thanks

I used to have a Welding shop not far from Mays Landing, I can't believe it was 38 years ago. Good luck with your crabbing and fishing.
I love your guys videos. I hope I can be the same way with my girl when I retire
Thanks, I'm sure you will when you retire, we have a lot of fun.

Love those traps, they did well for the time spent. 👍🏻
First time there and that's not the type of crabbing we usually do and the storms were a problem but we had fun. Thanks again for Watching, Diane.

Me too. Going to the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain near Slidell with the family back then and a few crab nets was a blast.

Thanks Gary and Thanks again for Watching
Like those traps.... easy to store on a skiff.... gotta look up "ring crab traps" be well.
Something different, we have some viewers who ask us where to go crabbing if you don't have a boat. Thanks again for Watching
If you two ever want to know where a few great crabbing spots are in Dixie County Florida give me a shout. Have a great day, Keep up the great videos.

@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors Thanks for the advice. I'll do just that when I get there in April.
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoorswhere can I buy those wire type ring traps?
Nice day, you two do more than 25 year old couples lol Love your videos! Do you do any shrimping? Looks like you might live near Holly Hill.

Love your videos. Would love to take my daughters here. We are in Orlando. Can you please provide more details on direction where this is located at tomoka basin? Thanks
You can start at the dock at Tomoka State Park and ask the ranger where it is.
Love your videos. Want to take my daughters to do this. We are in Orlando. Can you give more specifics areas of where this is at in tomoka basins. Thanks
A good place to start at is Tomoka State Park
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors thank you. Looks like N Beach st leads to the park so is it legal just to park on the side of this road and crab. Thanks
Most of the time it is, just be careful of the traffic, tell the Ranger where you're going and he'll tell you if it's ok. Hope you catch a lot of crabs.
How do you know what size float to use to hold the strings up?
I use the corks from the wine bottles we use for cooking.
I crabbed once during a rainstorm in Grand Isle, Louisiana and there were some really big crabs biting. So l stayed out with my nets. It's only water, no lightning.

How far inland do the blue crabs come in? Does it have to be tidal areas or a certain salinity (brackish) water?
In the St John's River they come all the way down to Lake George and that's fresh water. Thanks for Watching Michael
Sounds like when I go with my wife: don’t wipe your hands on your pants hahahaha
I still do it lol. Thanks for Watching
Hey Sam and Joyce…hoping you guys are ok!
Thanks, we got very lucky and didn't lose power and water didn't get into the house
What would you say you enjoy more this type of fishing or the boat?
I enjoy the boat but once in a while it's nice to leave the boat home and just crab along the road. Thanks again for Watching
Is this Florida? If yes, which part of it?
Yes it's in Florida towards Ormond Beach outside of the Tomoka State Park. Thanks for Watching
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors Hi, I like your videos. Awesome blue crabbing. I am from Virginia. Happy New Year!
I want Joyce bread recipe
She has several, we have to do a bread video
The rolls look awesome!
How do you not weigh 400lbs with all that good cooking??? 😄
It's tough especially with the homemade bread and rolls lol
