Duncparce surviving with a single HP at the end of that first run match against Lance's final Dragonite is straight up an anime moment. You really can't make that shit up.
I kind of was expecting Vileplume too, but in retrospect it should've been obvious. Gen 2 infamously made the original set of evolution stones very difficult to get and also locked them to Kanto; a Vileplume was actually impossible to get at that point.
@@CyberchaoX it's not impossible you just have to get lucky or abuse the changing daylight saving time mechanic to get that picnicker next to the daycare to call you and gift the leaf stone to you.
@@ConstantinKlose-sj4mb that or just trade the gloom to one of the Gen I games, evolve it there then trade it back... course not everyone had more then one GB and even fewer actually had a link cable back in the day.
Thought that this challenge before fully watching part 1 meant that if a Pokémon dies specifically, you can't use it in the next gen, which DANG is *much* easier then what you're doing. Hats off to you, sir!
oh, he can't. If he's used a pokemon in Red and Blue, then he can't use them in later games. Since he's used Ariados, he can't use it in Colosseum. That's the fun part. His roster gets smaller and smaller each gen
@@pokemonprofessorbogwood Well I meant JUST when the Pokémon dies in the nuzlocke. As in if Bulbasaur died but Pikachu lived, Pikachu can be used next game, but since Bulbasaur died it can't be used in the next game. Sorry I worded it weird to get the comment out earlier ^^;
@@rubye4022 Nope lol. All the Pokémon he's used, can't be used again. Even though they lived, he can't use them again due to the dupes clause. However, since he never used Vileplume, he can in a future run, though wild Vileplume are rare, He could be allowed to catch a Gloom, as long as he immediately evolves it into Vileplume. This means, in HGSS he can't use any of the starters. You could say the same thing about Colosseum, since those are available there too.

I really enjoy the calculative approach to captures! It's definitely not "traditional nuzlocke" but that doesn't matter at all tbh. Im really enjoying the unique nature of this run!
I think planning out the catches ahead of time was the right call - this series would be basically impossible otherwise, especially if resets were banned - I’m just pretty sure it’s literally not a nuzlocke if there’s no RNG. Still great videos tho lol
i mean, i feel like the most defining characteristic of a nuzlocke is the “pokemon are dead if they faint” rule more so than the encounter rule, but ig ultimately it just depends on where exactly you wanna draw the line

i really am loving this series, and wow that silver run was especially impressive. never ever thought i'd see an unown used in _any_ nuzlocke, yet alone one with a 5 member team including a ledian and a forretress. creative teams are inevitable in series which is already exciting, but i feel like that really took it to a whole different level.
"Just wing it and your battles will go absolutely fine!" made me smile. I've had way too many battles go badly despite lots of preparation, and even more that went well despite me going in without a plan.
He must have a serious love for the series to play all these games before the new releases. Especially with playing each version of a pair back to back
Dunsparce VS Lance really had me at the edge of my seat. I felt faint when their HP bar looked like it would drop to 0 but pulled through! This challenge has been quite engaging and I'm only getting more and more excited for each next installment! The fact that Colosseum is being included leaves me quite eager to know what's gonna go down in it! I have a feeling that yeah, that's where the first death of the run will happen.
Man this challenge is gonna be brutal. The data nerd in me will totally need to do a breakdown of pokemon usage based on game origin at the end. Can't wait for part three!

I'm really liking this series. I think it's representative of one of my favorite things about pokemon which is playing around with different teams. This forces you to use unusual teams you might not normally use and I think that really brings out the best of the games.

This is a great series. It's cool to see different Pokemon being used and your determination to save specific ones for later runs. I don't think you need to be so worried about keeping the videos "short". The lightning round was almost too fast.

Never clicked on a video so fast. Honestly with how saturated pokemon challenges have become this is glorious and I can't wait for how you get stuck with mons later into the series
I really enjoy this series a lot. The No Repeating rule leads to some interesting team building choices to create a synergy throughout every game. I think Gen 4 will be the toughest one with four more games containing Kanto coming up. Luckily Gen 5 will give you a bit of a breather with the Pokédex reset. I'm really looking forward to the next episodes. As someone who regularly and religiously watches many creators doing RBY Solo runs, I don't mind the 'repetitive narration' that much - it is three times the same story and the same enemies you're fighting, of course there is gonna be repetition. What you could try if you wanted to break that up, is going through the story once and jump between the games: Roxanne in Ruby, Roxanne in Sapphire, Roxanne in Emerald, then all Brawlys, then all Wattsons, etc.
Hi Jump Kick doing that little crash damage is actually working as intended. It's 1/8 of the damage it would have dealt, which was changed to 1/2 of theoretical damage in G3, half the target's HP in G4 and finally half the user's HP in G5.
After the giggle fest of that SMW credits song with Jasmine mishap I totally lost it with quagsire hitting itself because my brain went derp mode and I imagined him forgetting he was no longer a wooper and freaking out he had hands and going OMG I GOT HANDS and flailing them wildly and hitting himself in the face because of it, thus the confusion damage.....I have problems xD
Looking at the chart of all the pokemon sprites you really realize how insane Gen 4 pokemon were. Just look at the row from Weavile down to Arceus. Like JHEEZ-US what a row of well designed pokemon with real presence.
Coming back to this series is really fun. You get to really see his progression and the really unique teams. Listening to these episodes like a podcast while working is also such a nice experience. Got through my work quickly so far.
I love the concept of this Challenge series, but that Silver run and especially the Red battle there...holy s**t with a team like that??? Damn that is Hella impressive!

I'm very curious how you'll handle the remakes, unless you won't count just obtaining the starters as using them. And then catch something else to be a starter Mon and bench the actual starter.
In the description, below the (modified) nuzlocke rules and hardcore nuzlock rules, there is some paragraphs of clarification (more modified rules). HM users that are not fighting in battles does not count as used Pokémon, the nuzlocke doesn't start until he has balls etc.
This all game series must be the best thing in Nuzlock in 2022 and boy wasn't 2022 a good year all around for Nuzlock! You are doing amazing! Really looking forward for more episodes... As I say this, I will go now watch the Gen 3 video that's already out! Kudos

SO HAPPY YOU SEE THE VALUE OF GEN 2 DUNSPARCE. I used one on my original silver play through and rage was absolutely broken early game, and since friendship with him got so high stab return was a beast, plus high hp stat, even in the later game. thank you mr. chaotic meatball it was a joy to see someone else use my fav pokemon in my fav generation

6:45 Glare actually has 75% accuracy in gen 2, so it's more likely it just missed here. In gens 1 and 2, the message for missing a status move is the same as a move that doesnt affect a pokemon, which is why the message said "It didn't affect enemy Gengar"
I like the added clarifications of your exceptions to the nuzlocke and hardcore rules. The description is clear. Encounters are chosen, not just the first one. The nuzlocke doesn't start until balls are available - a common modification that many people play with. Pokémon that aren't used do not count. E.g. HM users and starters in remakes.

The fact that oddish had no use until kingdra and you pulled out a bellossom when I was expecting gloom or vilepume was a special kind of plot twist.

The discord nuzlocke community does a similar challenge but only counts pokemon that go into the elite 4, not every single catch

Nuzlocke starts when you get pokeballs
At the start you can see the thumbnail for the next two vids and it shows using early route 1 pokemon for the battles
In the description, below the (modified) nuzlocke rules and hardcore nuzlock rules, there is some paragraphs of clarification (more modified rules). HM users that are not fighting in battles does not count as used Pokémon, the nuzlocke doesn't start until he has balls etc.

This all game series must be the best thing in Nuzlock in 2022 and boy wasn't 2022 a good year all around for Nuzlock! You are doing amazing! Really looking forward for more episodes... As I say this, I will go now watch the Gen 3 video that's already out! Kudos
Yet again an absolute masterpiece I am loving this series and I have no idea how you are scraping by without losing anybody but anybody but I am very curious now what you're going to do with some of the repeat games like heart golden soul silver where you don't exactly have a 4th and 5th option for the jotostarter
SO HAPPY YOU SEE THE VALUE OF GEN 2 DUNSPARCE. I used one on my original silver play through and rage was absolutely broken early game, and since friendship with him got so high stab return was a beast, plus high hp stat, even in the later game. thank you mr. chaotic meatball it was a joy to see someone else use my fav pokemon in my fav generation

6:45 Glare actually has 75% accuracy in gen 2, so it's more likely it just missed here. In gens 1 and 2, the message for missing a status move is the same as a move that doesnt affect a pokemon, which is why the message said "It didn't affect enemy Gengar"

I like the added clarifications of your exceptions to the nuzlocke and hardcore rules. The description is clear.
Encounters are chosen, not just the first one.
The nuzlocke doesn't start until balls are available - a common modification that many people play with.
Pokémon that aren't used do not count. E.g. HM users and starters in remakes.
