After a day full of wind the evening hours presented a time window to perform a nice maiden for my newest plane in the hangar: MPX Funcub.

Nach einem Tag voller Wind gabs letztendlich ein Windfreies Zeitfenster am Abend für einen tollen Erstflug für mein neuestes Flugzeug im Hangar. Die MPX Funcub verdient ihren Namnen. Mehr Infos zum Flugzeug gibts hier:

I like the short takeoffs and lands capability of this plane. performance and fun. Can't wait to buy one. I crashed a multiplex glider before so I stayed away from foam and multiplex. I guess Its time to get back.
The wheels make this plane, take half the problem away of learning to fly - make the landings easier. You are able to land in more scenarios i.e. type of "runway." Buying these wheels for my other planes.

Nice Video, Didn't take long to get her built. Love my funcub, like you showed in the video, it is very economic with the battery power it uses. Just building my 2nd one now, with a more powerful motor & want to try out the Glider tow.
i have the same plane with 180 mm wing span she is so great when i throw her she flies stable straight and im a total beginner but anyone can fly that plane she makes no problems at all she and the arcus e rise are my nicest planes go on my videos i have one flying near my hometown

Fliege meine Cub mit Tuning-Antrieb von Torcster, sehr guter und günstiger Antrieb für 3- und 4S!
+Claudio Orias stimmt, die cub ist einfach sympathisch! Ich muss die im Frühling wieder Flugtauglich machen!

just got in from flying at a local slope, we flew elec. cos wind dropped to nothing - had a really good day. - Happy Flying, with your FC, I might get one :-) cya :-)

der SP liegt ungefähr beim Holm (7-8cm? - bin mir nicht mehr sicher)
es dürfte aber bei der Funcub nicht so genau sein mit dem SP...
Ich muss mit einem 2200er Akku immer ganz nach hinten rutschen, damit der SP nicht zu weit vorne ist!

thanks. Yes it were my first flights with this model. I like it to fly the FC very slow passing the runway on our flightfield - or with the floats on the lake now in summer. On the lake I always get a bit nervous because suddenly everyone there swimming or standing on the beach watches my flying :-)
I fly since around 2008.

H, I'm not sure about this motors specs so try to find out how much thrust it has. I'd use an 10x6 or 10x7 prop maybe but you can do the numbers with the free programm called drivecalc!
Actually I have an himax motoe with 400watts and 10x7 prop thats great for it...

Ich kann mich nicht mehr so gut erinnern. Aber am besten mal vorsichtig testen.
Flaps mit dem Mischer auf TR in guter Höhe aktivieren und schaun ob er schön gerade aber extrem langsam fliegt...
Nice vid. At least you were flying correctly. You flew it very stable. About the most realistic video I've seen of the funcub. (I've seen some really dangerous moves with this model, its still a powerful motor/prop). I beleive it may have been your maiden flight. You look like u'v been flying for a long time, like me, lol.
Good video, i have a second hand one but my transmiter is a Futaba 6exa that has only one ch for flaps,DO you know what can i do ? THANKS.

wow - I use the AerodriveXP SK 35-16 910kv and to me it seems more than enough. But I didn't try to tow a plane neither did I try to carry my gopro or my FPV stuff...

your motor config sounds massive...
It seems wrong for me to have higher RPM motor with suche a airscrew.
I use 960kv and only a slower 11x4,7 screw.
Yours would draw many amps, doesn't it?

Das Grundmodell nur 90€, dazu braucht man aber noch Akkus (20-40€), Servos und einen Antriebssatz (Motor+Regler ca 60-120€). Schau z.B. unter schweighofer DOT at
oder unter dmt DOT st
ich hab Motor und Regler bei hobbyking com gekauft - da ist's wesentlich billiger

It's been some time no so my memory isn't that good about these flights. Maybe I cut together more flights. But the Funcub was set up quite good from the start - I did just small trims while flying and a loop isn't the hardest thing to do with such a plane. And: it's only foam - maybe this is where the confidence comes from :-)

what are the specs of the bigger motor you use in the 2nd version?
I'm very interested in your towing trials - a friend asked me to get his new glider in the air soon - I'd like to see how and if this works...
Very nice flight and great looking plane. Looks like an Alaskan Bush Plane with those big balloon wheels. What size wheels are they? I've got a DHC-2 Beaver coming shortly, and those wheels look perfect.

Hallo, bin gerade am Bauen eines Flugzeuges aus Balsaholz (eine Piper Arrow), die hat ähnliche Flugeigenschaften wie der Funcub (Gewicht, Spannweite,...)
Ist der Funcub schwer zu fliegen? Fliege seit 3 Jahren, bin nicht anfänger aber auch nicht experte.
hi, die Funcub find ich sehr einfach zu fliegen. Ist als Hochdecker recht eigenstabil (Trainer Modell!) und wenn man auch noch Flaps hat, kann man sehr langsam fliegen ohne einen Stall zu riskieren. Viel Glück!

F C is a good plane, & its a good vid.
- Someone was hit by a foamie at a club near me, & the Air Ambulance had 2 b called, unfortunatly it was pretty serious. The flyer was flying responsibly, - i think batt went dead. - I'm sure your a responsible flyer like me too.
I'm thinking of getting a F C myself :-)

@emoore1978 some people do full blown aerobatics on maiden flight. I usually don't trim at all, I try to set them up properly on the ground :)

On the maiden I'm sure it was the original himax motor that's recommended from mpx

Hi. Please watch my Vid "RCSchim: MPX Funcub Waterplan ONBOARD" - here you see it flying with floats - they would also work as skies on snow. Only problem: with snow comes low temps - not good for my fingers - so I didn't try it yet :-)
where av I said your not flying correctly? - u were. I was congratulating u. I'll think twice in future, I have seen the fun cub flown badly, but not yours for your info. I've seen it flown well too. I love my flying too. - but just watch what your saying mate. - I fly a lot of different models. I fly on my own farm & at the club. People arnt sissy for thinking about safety. - & no I wasnt saying u wernt flying safely
have you watched mpxs' promotional video? its not dangerous to fly this plane as it can, its not called the scale cub
maiden flight?????.....come on dude. nobody takes and does a loop without trimming and landing new plane first. maybe the maiden video.....but sure not the maiden flight.
