As a born and raised Copenhagener, I can only agree with Søren. While I can appreciate why so many tourists only see Copenhagen (they simply spend too few days in Denmark to see anything else), I always tell tourists that they should go and see more of Denmark and especially Jylland (Jutland). Yes, move away from Nyhavn etc. and be a little adventurous.
Hahah... Been waiting for this video 😁👍 It was truly a pleasure to spend a day with you, my friend. And to all you other followers out there: give Davion a chance to show YOUR part of the World 🇩🇰👍 And Davion: If you pass by Vejle again, look me up. We don't have to do a video, but I'll share a Jacobsen Brown Ale with you any Day 👍👍
That you can no longer touch the stones and they are kept behind glas is a recent thing. In 2011 a 15 year old local boy spraypainted the stones. First time vandalism had struck the national artifact and since they needed to clean the stones, they decided to also protect them from the weather (and spray cans), for future generations to enjoy.
I was actually to the opening of that viking bridge, many years ago. I was a warrior actor in Jels Vikingespil, an outdoor play, that takes place in the summer, in the small town of Jels. We were invited to do some fighting scenes. It was a fun trip. I was in the play, from the age of 16-20, so this must have been in the mid- to late 80s.
😳😳I would love to see plays like that… sounds like I really will have to visit Denmark in the summer months!! That sounds like a fun experience and memory, especially happening from 16-20!
@@DavionWest they still do the viking show in jels.. if you are on sjælland then roskilde/ringsted / køge also have great viking historie.. forsøgslandet lejre is a fun place also, where you can see how they lived and get your own hands on.. they have different event there not far from jelling is also ribe that have some viking museum and they also have a marked where people come dressed as vikings for a weekend in may
Nice that you visit places other than Copenhagen, because there are many places that are as important historically as Copenhagen. We are quite a few families where certain lines through church records are documented descendants of King Gorm Den Gamle, which is of course interesting to us, but which also shows a historical connection, that the whole thing is not just a cozy tale, it was and is reality
Just a small observation: When we were having the stegt flæsk at Social Dining in Vejle, did you notice that the bar has a viking ship on it? I knew that the bar was called "The Boat", but I never noticed the viking ship until this video :D When you think of it, it's actually brilliant .... the viking ship sailing between all of the restaurants from so many different countries. Viking life in a nutshell.
I’m a new subscriber. I have a random question how are you able to sustain yourself financially and travel the world? Enjoyed the contact keep up the great work
Hey, and thanks for the support. I was in the military first, I saved 85% of my check since the military payed for living and my food. I lived under my means. I also invested a little bit of my money. So now I’m just praying these videos take off.
To day in Denmark we had around 8-10 degrees celcius (about 50 degree fahrenheit) it was a warm day, we just had a lot of snow last week and freezing temps.
some people do argue that it is Loke and not jesus that are on the stone (Loki is a god in Norse mythology.) the person on the stone does match with a funny headshape and beard like Loke was pictured in other places... its not just marvel you can connect to that part of dk, not so far from jelling Tolkin came up with lord of the rings. you will find some connections to the some names of places (Isengard), and the landscape. and the mytholigy Norse mythology and Icelandic folktales inspired Tolkien
Soooooo nice to see a tourist finally get their butt out of Copenhagen, and showing that Denmark is more than just hipsters and cafes :D Great video.
Thank you for the kind words and support! :) I still have alot more to see, of Denmark, hopefully this summer or next.
@@DavionWest I wish you safe travels - and hopefully you will be lucky and be here while it's nice and warm in the summer.

That’s a shame a kid did that…. But I am glad the stones are being protected.

@8:57 that's not pork belly, but pork back, which is a better piece of meat...
Ohhhhh that makes sense!!! It was definitely better than what I thought of pork belly :)
Super! You're the man Davion. Great vibe and an amazing place.
I appreciate that! I really wanted to show cities outside of Copenhagen.

Hi again davion😁
Hey 👋!
It’s cold there????

Compared to Texas and Louisiana and a bit chillier in Denmark.
@@DavionWest Come back in July (june/august also work) and you will experiance 20-30 degree celcius and long days (+18 hrs of daylight)
