You are building one of the finest and best engineered cabin on the internet. Well done! I have been watching from the foundation on up. The engineering may be a little over the top. Your carpentry skills just keep improving with time. Other cabin builders have much to learn from your example. Waiting to see the finished product. Keep up the good work. ❤ 😃 🙂
It's the best cabin I have ever seen build...from the foundation, right down to the cabin...solid as....from your mistakes and fixing the problem.. the best......11 out 10....hehehe you must be proud of your accomplishment....hope there are videos to come...hehehe
Happy new year! And thank you! More videos to come, just need to find time to do all the editing but it will come, I promise. Thank you for everyone’s patience
Always so much easier when you have the right tools. Retired after 50 years of building and I'd say you did a fine job! Code Inspections? Gotta love the soffits huh, and to use continuous soffit vents, very good job!
Looks really nice! I'm planning on doing steel roofing and steel siding for my cabin. Nearing retirement so want something with minimal maintenance on the outside.
Excellent content man, really inspiring and informative. What is the name of the dark brown trim product that you use on the corners of the building and around the windows? The one that the siding slides beneath.
@TheDIYCabinGuy Congratulations! I hope you are doing what you like! We had stressful jobs that were making my husband sick. That's the reason we give it all up. Now we are rural, and it is hard to find jobs... but my husband is healthy again. We'll manage somehow. Take care of yourself! You are a good builder!
@@LarchLine thanks! Yes I left my previous job which I was totally burned out from and will be doing something different but still within the wood construction industry. Very excited to learn brand new things and expand my knowledge about construction and wood structures. Glad to hear that you are both better, health is everything.
It’s not done yet, still have all the inside to finish! If you want to get a breakdown cost of what I’ve spent so far, check out the video description for more info about the monthly newsletter. Thanks !
I honestly have never seen that much attention to detail with any developer I have worked for or any property I have done carpentry repairs on. Usually you get a crew of more than 100 guys all doing their own tasks, none if them understanding what is going on and a crew supervisor who comes to work unprepared, fosters a workplace atmosphere that workers are not allowed to talk with one another and there is no teaching, just orders, and the crew earns the same as Janitors. No wonder why confidence in builders have declined. About 80% or higher of every repair job I was tasked with was as a result of not cutting to proper length, using the wrong nails or not enough nails, or any typical taking shortcuts by omitting materials. Something as simple as using proper stud spacing or wider floor joists, heck even the spacers between joists omitted, sure does make a place cheap. I always say, "To do a job properly, do it yourself". You are proof of that!

Thank so so much John! Really appreciate it
The only thing that's going to take this cabin down is wildfire. It's so solid in every other way. Remarkable quality for the investment.
@@timkaldahl thanks 😃

To be young and be able to go, go, and go. I love it.

Beautiful craftsmanship
Thanks a lot !
Good Video!
Thanks!
dewalt fan boy I can dig it. I'm one as well.
😀
Will you insulate the floor? What goes on the bottom of the floor joists to keep critters out of the insulation?
Watch my latest episode and you’ll see
You’re doing great ❤
How’s your work situation going?
Starting a new job in a couple of weeks! I’m currently working the inside of the cabin, I need to catch up on video editing
Hahhah!! That face 59 seconds in 😂😂. I know that
Excellent content man, really inspiring and informative. What is the name of the dark brown trim product that you use on the corners of the building and around the windows? The one that the siding slides beneath.
Thanks a lot! That’s just wood that I stained
What are the perforated metal strips you put in under the roof edges? Is it for ventilation to prevent moisture buildup?
Yes it’s to ventilate the whole roof assembly, air will exist at the ridge vent
Impressive!
Have you found another job?
Not long ago, you mentioned that you are in between jobs
Starting it tomorrow actually !
@TheDIYCabinGuy
Congratulations!
I hope you are doing what you like!

You must be a software engineer by trade or a mechanical engineer.
Structural engineer actually
