Can i just say that THIS IS HIP HOP!!! Not that bullshit everyone listen's to today. Yeah sometimes music is just about having fun and dancing but just because you got a beat and a rap doesn't mean it's hip hop. Hip Hop is about getting word out on issues that everyone's going through but no one cares about. Music needs to make a backslide real quick because when we talked like this, people LISTENED! Now, they just laugh.
Just watched Freedom Writers as a man and I cried like a lil bitch at least 20 times throughout the movie. It's crazy how I was clueless of the movies message as a child. Now I'm in love with this song.
this is what hip hop should be. today rapping is all about drugs, money, women, and crime with no positive message. this song show how it is about getting out of seperation and getting of the streets. why cant there be more rappers like this? it would send such a different message than todays rappers.
Hip hop is a culture not for commercial use. When you mention hip hop don't solely label it as gangster rap. Because hip hop is funk, soul, jazz, indie rock, electronic, rap, rhythm and blues, and etc....anything is hip hop. Never label hip hop as music only...hip hop is more than music Peace
MLK Jr should be all blacks leader. I mean he did fight for our rights and made things possible for us blacks that could've happened in a million years without him. Rip Dr King & Malcolm
flying saucers The key to the liberation and betterment of a society is first moral reformation. With all due respect Sir/Madam, what kind of change inspires you to poison your mind, body and soul with alcohol? It's the equivalent of campaigning for free medical treatment for lung cancer patients while smoking.
valerie vergara Nothing cheesy or naive about it, it's fact. God has taught us that the circumstances that people find themselves in are a result of their own actions and deeds. You cannot complain about political injustice against yourself and your community when you have taken your own desires as your God. If you dont understand this fundamental principle, then you never understood El Hajj Malik El Shabazz May Allah be Pleased With Him and Have Mercy Upon Him.
September 9, 2021 Just watched Freedom Writers and now im here. Its hits the soul different when you watch the movie and understand more and more, on history, racism, the violence in the streets we live, and the way the world turns. God Bless everyone, right now everything is dark but always shed light to brighten that.
This song, the movie and the real life freedom writers bring so much hope. I'm eternally grateful for people who use their platform to better this world.
Common is so gifted with his poeticism. One of the most underrated MCs in history. Common's music is the symbol for unity - the very unity that true Hip-Hop stands for.
I just finished watching freedom writers and I have to say it is my favourite movie by far I goes so deep into the racism of our society between all races and shows how everyone should be given a chance no matter what they have done in the past and shows how that everyone has the ability to shape their future's.
"Let Love Prevail" Common has many "stories to tell!" This was my first surprise introduction to "Common" and his music! Profound and powerful lyrics and visuals! Great production and collaboration with Will.i.am and Darrius for the Freedom Writers film! Only a few years ago was I introduced to the RUclips Video world and this video cued up... I became an instant fan of the presence and the heavy and compassionate soul and voice of this man! "I Have A Dream" is one of my many favourites of Commons' phenomenal collection of albums, stories and collaboratives... that are timeless! Thank you "beheard" and "Common!" My apology for the very late reply! Keep the Vibe Alive!!!
I found this song listed in the description for a short documentary on The Montgomery Bus Boycott. I have always admired Rosa Parks. She had such courage! And she was just fed up with being treated as less than white people. I like how this song is positive and the music is light and cheerful! Well bowled, as the British cricket players say!
Guys I love the fact that you listened to this on Martin Luther King Jr Day, The Doc was a saint, he changed the world. Listen to it on days when you need to get into a good mood. He has impacted my life in ways I can't explain. But I don't need to, Black Power!
I’m watching Freedom writers in school we are like 1h 20mins in,I love it it’s the best movie I have had to watch in school. The acting is amazing.I only have the class once a week so I don’t get to watch the rest until next week.
Sidebar shows one video with 1.8 million views, many others ~first time I saw this one ~ I usually search for Freedom Writers Diary and watch that one.
Best R&B Soul or Rap Music Video. I've known this song since January 17,2015 at a MLK Center in my hometown. I saw a step team dancing to this song in their step routine, entrance and exit. Good song and video.
This is real hip hop fuck whatever anyone says. I don't know why they don't play songs like this on the radio and yet play trash like Lil Uzi Vert, Future, 21 Savage, young thug, Kodak black, blac youngsta, etc. that only talk about money, drugs, bitches, guns, violence, violence against other blacks, killing other blacks. The song has a great message young people these days can learn from. That's why there's so much violence and rioting going on in America because kids these days don't have any positive influences because anything positive is considered "corny" or "lame". I swear it's like they don't want the young people to hear a positive message and only want them to hear and like songs about money, bitches, drugs, doing drugs, guns, and more guns and more violence. This country is getting more and more divided aswell. This generation desperately needs Jesus.
Una de las mejores canciones que pasan en escritores de la libertad (Freedom writers), una película increíble se convirtió en una de mis películas favoritas👏
it's not about idols like mlk. it's about how we are living now and how to achieve that dream in this corrupt system humans have made and forced others into
My middle school teacher made my class watch this in middle school.. who knows in 12-13 years I'll be searching it.. felt like yesterday I was back in 2008 time flies‼️‼️💯👌⌛🧬
Freedom Writers and Dangerous Minds are my favourite movies. Always shed a light on subject that we all face in different situations. This is educating and relevent to our society.
Fourth grade teacher ♥ This song reminds me of her; She was the ABSOLUTE BEST ! I used to know this rap , but then I moved on and it is now 4 years later .. And I STILL remember EVERYTHING about her ! >.< ♥ I love her !! She's the best !! She made EVERYTHING better for learning !!
we still try to break out beyond skin color. today it's also about the color of MONEY. you can make all the money in the world but you're still no better than anyone else & the laws treat you just the same. that's EQUALITY. other people call it SOCIALISM as if they know what the word means. MLK Day is a day to think about all of that.
i Agree. we have to deal with the crappy system the government gives us. Its never going too be equal. Now we have RICH agaignst POOR. Its not muh to do with color anymore. I know because i lived in the projects for 8 years growing up on welfare. and I am a white women. People dont understand not all people want too live that way they just listen too all the negative things they hear; when in reality they have no idea what the heck is going on. It saddens me that children dont get equal afterschool activties - the rich kids more; and the kids that arent - welll they never get too see anything. Thats one thing i plan on changing when i get out of college is give back too my community and teach children at the center
we will reach equality some day. people today never thought they would live to see a black president. people thought slavery would never end. good things come to those who never stop fighting & teach the next generation to pick up the torch like what you plan to do when you graduate. god bless you!
Thank you and I hope I suceed in opening doors for those children.. Alot of people discrinate or judge children based on where they live. And what people say are the complete opposite. The kids i teach during summer art classes are so polite and have hearts of gold. I think GOD has a plan for everyone in life and I know my plan involves helping children open thir eyes too the future. If we keep shutting them out and not doing anything too help the problems we face it will get worser. But if we try together too bring happiness GOD will reward us all in the end. Yes your right though things have changed; we finally got freedom from slavery. and what i never understood in HS was that - If America was a free country why did african americans face neglect and slavery and such? Idk; but I am glad it left all thanks too the civil rights movement - we just hav e too keep praying for the best i suppose
watched Freedome Writers this week in english class, was automatically attracted to this beat, and wanted to hear the song.....and I'm very glad I looked it up
This is seriously my all-time favorite song. That's a bold statement. Common's sickest flow and Will kilt it from the side too. Musical genius. ... nuff said Love to all my people back home from the Tr, Shane C.

They laugh in their ignorance, i totally agree with your argument.
Shut up
You do know Rap & Hip-Hop are not the same genre but they are used together most of the time
Jabarius Jones I believe is said they weren't the same genre. Read carefully, sir.
That was mean
Just watched Freedom Writers as a man and I cried like a lil bitch at least 20 times throughout the movie. It's crazy how I was clueless of the movies message as a child. Now I'm in love with this song.

This is such an underrated yet awesome song. I love songs with actual lyrics that mean something.
A rarity these days
what your dont like "artists" screaming buzz words while often displaying overly sexualized content constantly for 3 minutes
