Hello, everybody out there in social media land, it's your personal injury attorney, Derek Bernstein here to give you some legal advice again, hitting you with the car accident stuff because that's what I do. So what I'm going answer here is a very important question. What do I do if the person who hit my car does not have insurance? So the car that hit you doesn't have insurance, and let's say, hypothetically, they're not worth anything, because most people without insurance aren't worth jack. So they hit you, you're injured, you're hurt, you need to go to the doctor, you may need a surgery. Your attorney comes back and says they don't have insurance or you’ve seen the police report they don't have insurance. What do you do? Let's say hypothetically, you don't have UM insurance, uninsured motorists, underinsured motorist coverage that I've been telling you for years to get, you don't have that.
You think Derek, I have full coverage. They told me full coverage. And then you find out that doesn't cover Um insurance. What do you do? You bend over, you take it. There's nothing you can do. Nothing you can do. You can't sue somebody who doesn't have money for money. You can't get money from nobody. You can't get blood from a stone. You are screwed. You are screwed. You needed to have UM coverage before this happened. I recommend a 100,000, 300,000. 100, 300 UM stacked, if you have multiple vehicles. Stacked, what that would mean? So you have two vehicles be covered up to 200,000 to 600,000 for injuries. So then you can drive around no matter who hits you, you know there's going to be coverage there for you if you are severely injured. So don't come to me and say, Derek, the person who hit me had no insurance, I'm going TO say it should be irrelevant because you should have that hundred thousand in UM.
It may seem a little expensive it seems expensive until you get hit with somebody. One in seven drivers in the state of Florida don't carry insurance. You go well how do they do that? How do they live with themselves they don't care. People don't care, they just do what they want to do. They'll go to jail, whatever. Don't be there and go well, that person didn't have money, they were driving a car illegally, why would people drive illegally? Because people don't care. You need to care. You need to care about yourself, you need to care about your friends, you need to care about your family, get UM coverage, I cannot preach it more. I turn down cases all the time because there's no money there and people look at me like I’m crazy. They're going I know this person has money. I know they have money it's a BMW. People with BMWs are broke too.
Don't sit around and wait to call me on the phone and say, what? My person's say I have full coverage. Full coverage is bullshit term. Don’t sit around and wait. Call your insurance agent, make sure you have UM coverage so you never ask me this question, what do i do if the person who hit my car does not have insurance? Guys I’m not trying to be mean, I'm trying to just be frank with you, you don't want to ever want to see this come up. Get your um coverage and then we'll never have to have this discussion, you'll actually get the medical, treatment you need, and we'll put some money in your pocket for your injuries. I have insurance, but not full coverage, and I’m waiting to know if they have insurance from the cops . What can I do
hire an attorney in your area. Get medical treatment as well ASAP.

@@stanzre There is no insurance info on the police report? If so then you can go make a claim with their insurance asap.
