I tried out both 000-10E and 000-15M at my local guitar store. The 15M has much more bass response than the 10E, and much more 'woody' kind of feel. But I kinda prefer the 10E tone more, slightly brighter sound, both great guitars. Nice review btw!
I own the 00010E and watched this video for some clarity to help decide if I needed the 00015. Honestly, I now believe I don’t t need the 00015, the tonality is very close. Thanks for the video and potentially saving me a lot of money.
I've been playing the RS1 for 6 months now and I've just recently acquired the D version of the 15. Also the RS1/10e has a 1 3/4'' nut which make it slightly easier for fingerpicking.
I’ve got the 000RS1. Wanted the 000-15M but, was not in my budget at the time. I knew they would be close in tone, which is why I ordered one sight unseen. Your video confirms my thoughts. The 000RS1 can’t be beat for the price.

Haven't yet decided on a guitar I'm getting, but this was by far the most helpful video I've seen (only saw first 3 min so far). You're actually playing the guitar moderately, not smacking it. Mahogany and sapele (really most Martins) are so mid-heavy, so slapping just makes it sound pokey and harsh; but the way you play is how these guitars are meant to be played to achieve their pleasant sound: meeting in the middle performances wise so that the tone can be broadcast in its most natural state. Coincidentally (and fortunately for me) that's how I play too, so the demo was a lot more helpful for my search than any of these other videos. Great job and thank you!

The electronics on 000 10e was a big influence on my choice. Plus I already broke it in and become accustomed to it. I always grab ahead of guitars 2x’s more expensive +. Upgrade not logical. Also you’ve got to mention the Blues at its roots with this guitar. Love it! I made the right decision.🎉
I tried both in a physical store , Differences are 00015M are much MORE smoother to touch, fingerstyle playing and strumming while 00010E are a bit on the rougher but still smooth to touch. The Sound/Tone is the 00015M gives much more heavy deep bass, great Mids even to the lightest strung, the 00010E are sounding sharp, a bit crispier, lighter more shallow bass sound than deep. Both are great guitars , for low budget and introductory to martin you can get the 00010E , if for performance , stage, studio, i prefer 00015M. @@billimbriale8535 A year ago, you could. Used prices have gotten crazy since then. Still, it's only about a $200 difference between a used 000-15M and a new 000-10e. A few months ago, there was even a used 000-15SM 12-fret listed on CL for under $1000. You do have to be patient.

Nice vídeo. It helped me to decide. I’m not a professional player. So I will go with 10E. For a professional one 15E have the sound that I’m looking for.but I can’t pay 1700$ just for playing around my bedroom.
The 00015M has a bit more chime and sustain...of course all that depends on the actual example. Typically Sapele makes for a bit more glassy tone, while the all South American mahogany 00015M with be more resonant and will age differently traditionally. Also the richlite parts don't help.
The biggest difference was in the 2 note chords, the E sounded like 2 different strings, the M sounded like a beautifully balanced chord with neither string poking out. I felt the difference was quite big when playing these two myself. For $1300 for the e vs $2000 for the M, I thought that the E was amazing value but being a musician who plays violin, I I’d have trouble having the E after playing the M.
Can anyone comment on the strings used on each guitar? Do we know if they are the same. Curious, because my all mahogany guitar sounds very different when strung with Martin Phosphor bronze versus Elixir Nanoweb strings. Much brighter with the nanoweb.
The 15m is legend, but I'll tell you what, that 10e is a very nice guitar. He's wrong though about the spec's. The 10e has a wider nut width and shorter scale length, along with the performing artist neck profile. They will have a similar feel to the necks, but it's noticeable.

They are so close that I'd say the difference in sound is about 2-3 db and thats about it. It would be interesting to hear the results if you level matched the recordings of both guitars.

The 000-15 definitely has a better bass response. I own the 000-10E and I love it. I was just wondering if these are both brand new guitars? Is the 000-15 older?
I tried both of these guitars side by side yesterday. Yes immediately I noticed the weight difference but sonically they are very similar 10e having a bit more clarity. What I did not expect was the playing comfort of the shorter scale 10e. Most importantly the Mexican made 10e was finished off better than the US made Ooo15. The US OOO15 had nut material hanging over where the headstock meets the neck. Pretty careless. Thanks guys for a great discussion and demo.

I bought the 10 E yesterday and gotta say that I am extremely disappointed. ZERO punch fingerpicking and strumming. It might be great mic'd up or through an amp but unplugged it is extremely low volume. That's a shame because It does sound very good in terms of tonality. Intonation is excellent. So unless you are buying it and want an instrument without much volume output for late night playing or something like that, I'd stay away.
They both sound great tbh for beginner bedroom guitars. And you could put two identical 000 martins side by side and hear a different sound. Every guitar has its own sound, like all seven of my D-45s, each one sounds slightly different.
I was hoping the 10E would sound almost as good in order to save myself a few hundred bucks. Alas, the 15-M has a far superior tone and considerably more volume. Perhaps, I can fast for a month.
Lol “far superior tone” is definitely a stretch. There are some differences but nothing in the tone is superior. The differences are more likely due to the scale length difference than the country of origin. Hope you had your meals, not really worth it imho but one can certainly do whatever with their money. 😊
On the strength of this video I tried out a 000-10E today. In the room I actively disliked it acoustically. It had a small recessed tone. It was bright, but not overly bright with very little character and just did not sound remotely like a Martin in any way. For the money £825 - I'm 100% sure you could do far better for your money.
Exactly. I actually made the mistake of buying one yesterday and although I did like the overall tonality, the volume was dreadful. Zero punch when not mic'd up or plugged in. It would be a good guitar for someone who plays late at night and doesn't want to wake his family or roommates. Other than that, it is useless acoustically. Will be returning it.
V good review and comparison.. Like you said the 15M has more clarity and brighter and has a more quality sound.. I would say go for 15M because - 1. Made in USA 2. You get a hard case (You will need hard case for all solid guitar and what better than a martin case).. It will also be safe during long shipping.. 3. Genuine Mahogany 4. Better appointments - Tuners, fret inlays, top pattern, etc 5. This is subjective - Better quality Martin sound Other subjective comparison - Nut width - 43 vs 44.5 Fretboard - Richlite vs rosewood
The 000-15M is Sipo, NOT Mahogany. Martin uses the term "Mahogany" very loosely. If its not labeled - Genuine Honduran Mahogany, its not true Mahogany. I own the 000-15M and when I found this out, I was disappointed only with Martin's lack of transparency, but not the guitar. It's a great guitar.
@@Rgdonaire_07 I'd rather know exactly what they're using instead of being lied too. It's still a great guitar and a must have for any Martin aficionado. The CEO-7 also uses Sipo since 2014. Nothing wrong with Sipo, but they need to put Sipo in the description, instead of using "Mahogany" which is a grey area in the Martin world.
@@sonnybarry The 000-15M is NOT genuine/big leaf mahogany nor is any guitar in the 15 series lineup. If you own a 000-15M, it’s Sipo - end of story. Email Martin and give them your serial number and ask - if you don’t believe me. Sorry to disappoint you.
I bought the 10E and it sounds better live. The problem is the volume output unplugged is extremely low and wimpy. Tonality is great but it's just too quiet especially in a noisy environment. Set up out of the box was a disaster. Very disappointed. Expected more from a Martin. I'll stick with Taylor
I like the 000-10E. Acoustically the 000-15M is far superior! The guys in the video say the differences are subtle. I don't think so! Obviously the 000-10E also has a pickup and a tuner. So from a value for money perspective - it is pretty good. But from an acoustic tone perspective the 000-15M wins hands down as far as I'm concerned!!!!!

00015m vastly superior, and it should be its much more expensive.
V good review and comparison.. Like you said the 15M has more clarity and brighter and has a more quality sound.. I would say go for 15M because -
1. Made in USA
2. You get a hard case (You will need hard case for all solid guitar and what better than a martin case).. It will also be safe during long shipping..
3. Genuine Mahogany
4. Better appointments - Tuners, fret inlays, top pattern, etc
5. This is subjective - Better quality Martin sound
Other subjective comparison -
Nut width - 43 vs 44.5
Fretboard - Richlite vs rosewood
The 000-15M is Sipo, NOT Mahogany.
Martin uses the term "Mahogany" very loosely. If its not labeled - Genuine Honduran Mahogany, its not true Mahogany.
I own the 000-15M and when I found this out, I was disappointed only with Martin's lack of transparency, but not the guitar.
It's a great guitar.
That’s why I saw in another video. Very sneaky of martin. I ordered one and I’m eagerly waiting for it.
It's Honduran mahogany. I own two of these. You sipo guys don't own one.
@@sonnybarry
The 000-15M is NOT genuine/big leaf mahogany nor is any guitar in the 15 series lineup.
If you own a 000-15M, it’s Sipo - end of story.
Email Martin and give them your serial number and ask - if you don’t believe me.
Sorry to disappoint you.
That's funny I am a 2020 and it is 100 % real mahogany..maybe go back to shop class
Incomparable, the 15 is way better, the 10 is too bright and shallow while the 15 is deep and warm.
No comparison.
the 10E has almost zero volume when fingerpicking without a mic or plugged in.
Very disappointed.
@@neilmartin99 it's a quiet guitar to be sure but it's lovely ...
@@krismcreynolds984 Tone wise it was fantastic but I used it mainly as a unplugged parlor guitar and could not hear notes picked on the B and high E strings when the TV was on at low volume in the background.
I traded it in for the 000-15M and very happy.
I can now watch my hockey games while banging out Smoke On The Water on my acoustic. : )
@@neilmartin99 I've also got the 000 15m and hear what your are saying dude, love mine.. I've bad ears so the softness of the 000rs1 is actually a positive for me but yes it's not a 000 15m lol.. have fun sir
@@neilmartin99 How many times are you going to repeat this here?
000-15m 😊😊😊
000-10e
The 10E sounds much better to my ears. The 15Msounds muffled. The 10e sounds better on the high strings.
great mic and eq ,, only this no guitar
I have a triple 00015m and I'm trying to help my friend decide on the 000-10e lol
Technically both American made. 😝
sapele is better wood, more hardest than mahogany, more deep sound and aquilibrated than mahogany.
The D15 sounds much better.
000-10e is way better in sound wise.
It sucks volume wise.
Good tonality but wimpy volume output.
