    There is no such thing as a fair setup, someone is at least getting a 51% to 49% sway in the set up.

    If viewers can accept that it's a combat sport where the fight begins prior to the "go," then perhaps the subtle game of setting up and getting your grip (or slipping to get the strap game, etc.) will be something the audience may appreciate; however, if the viewer experience is that all of that is boring/annoying "cheating" or delay before the "real fight" begins, then that perception (the "optics") will only hamper the popularity of the sport of Armwrestling...

    So while I agree you need to fight for everything in the setup possible and get the best grip you can possibly get while giving your opponent the opposite, its how you go about it, especially on the biggest stage we have. He looked like a whining child... Oh wait, he is... 😅 They shouldnt have put him on the main card of a PPV either but anything for a buck.. Very few times have i felt, 'oh that was too much devon...' Maybe once in a match where it felt like that from a certain point on with Auden and it grossed me out. I still like them both but I look forward to Milo jumping into the sport slowly because he doesn't have his moms attitude like Auden does 😅

    it look like shit show it was a shit show, and pros explaning it to spectators why it actually good wont work, if it looks like shit to spectator they just wont comeback next time, and no one will give a fuck if pross think it was good.

    Auden beat James because of technique, fighting, and he was strong enough in certain areas and knew how to utilize it such as his hand in the setup and start.

  • @samk2407
    @samk2407 12 дней назад +4

    I will also say, what a "fair grip" actually is is sort of relative right? Like does a fair grip give each guy an equal chance at winning, or is it just a standard grip that everyone conforms to. Even then, when you have different proportions and sizes of athletes, how do you accommodate that in an explicit way? The answer is you can't, which is why it ends up being a negotiation, and while obviously stuff can go too far and be cheating, if you need the ref to help you take a grip that you can win with, that you couldn't get if you were just pulling the guy straight up, isn't that playing the ref, using them to your advantage as well?

    If there is a reason people start falling out of love with arm wrestling, this style would be a good candidate.

    I think you guys did a good job focusing on the main points here. I do think when Auden held James’ hand on his side of the table, stretching him way out for almost 10 seconds after getting pinned himself - that should not be allowed. Otherwise - it’s a fight. Taste-wise I prefer it done with class, but that’s a matter of personal taste.

    • @EthnHayabusa
      @EthnHayabusa 12 дней назад +1

      James himself defended that. He accidentally headbutted Auden when he screamed in Auden's face. James also said Auden was applying way less force than it looked.

    • @pippyMC23
      @pippyMC23 12 дней назад +1

      they are not justifying the bad reffing, they are simply saying that Auden was just trying his best to take advantage in the setup, which is what every top armwrestler would, and should do. The reffing wasn't the best, but Auden was smart enough to take advantage of that, hence he was the better armwrestler.
