    I just got one , I put it together in under an hour, I didn’t use the instructions but twice , I watched about 4 different videos to cross reference because there is no one video answer anywhere on the www for putting this thing together, I am a master tinkerer so putting things together for me is less of a challenge than the average joe , my biggest challenge is going to be getting this thing programmed and getting the feel and knowing its capacity 😀🤘🏼

    When I assembled my TTS 55 Diode Laser I found it much easier to put the X-axis belt onto the synchronous pully BEFORE fastening the X-axis beam to the Y-axis left frame. That is, do the top of page 13 of the manual before doing the bottom of page 12.

    one of the better reviews on this laser.....no BS....just honesty....1 note about this laser.....have seen comments (many i might say) on longevity of laser over time....great power out of the box (as you mentioned), but degrades faster than the others ( xtool, ortur, atomstack, etc,etc,etc)..... maybe they are running 100% power?......granted this is only in the $200-250 range, but having to replace the module soon....???? IDK.....that would be a pain... so all in all, great review.....it's not up there with the big boys....but neither is its pricetag.

I commented yesterday on the Universal Test Card (Ver. 8) about just using portions of this test for engraving because I don't want to cut with my laser. But after watching this review, when I get to the cutting point, this will be a laser I would seriously consider! Thanks again for all you do with these tutorials for newbies such as myself.

I am so glad to have found your YT Channel ... you have/offer so much knowledge to learning about all of the different lasers that are available. I agree with you about recommending! I NEVER recommend anything to anyone ... not, even, my family! I feel the same way ... do your own research, etc. One of my main reasons is that I don't want anyone being able to point their finger at me if something does not work out for them, etc. Again, thank you for this review ... The focal diameter makes a big difference. Similar to the inverse-square law. The W/sq-mm goes up by 4 if you cut the radius in half if I did the math correctly.

    I've bought it after this presentation. Works amazing, the only issue is that - there's no definied start point. So You need to make test run on cheap papper/waste material to know where the patter will appear. Quite problematic when you need precision placement or cutand have one attemtp.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  2 года назад

      You can define the starting point on any laser.

    • @Petardozord
      @Petardozord 2 года назад +1

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy In each 3d printer which i have, there's ceratin "home position" (0x and 0y) where printer goes back to after work and you can calibrate it. here you can set where home is. There's not definied home position by hardware. More over if file is alrger than 30 cm the laser and mortor continue to work like nothing happens - they stuck at the edge and move in place and they continue drawing pattern while stuck at the back rail. There's not "limit switches". So bascially machine doesn't know where it is. But not that huge issue form me I just want cut wooden parts. And it works great.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  2 года назад +1

      The machine always knows where it is if you don't move it by hand and power it on in the 0/0 position. If you watch this video starting at the 4 min mark, I show how to set a home position with a laser with no limit switches. ruclips.net/video/EYNqIEdc-0I/видео.html

I saw a video of a person spray painting a pcb and just engraving the paint until copper can be seen I was wondering if it could be done with this machine. The shield is a personal preference and has nothing to do with the actual engraving. It's there to help protect your eyes and the eyes of others, like children and pets. You could just wear the glasses if the shield is broken, which you always should do anyway. But I personally would never use a laser with anyone else in the room.

    Great review, question do you think this will cut say 297gsm cardstock on top of 3/16 up to 1/2" foam board. My goal it to print my design on cardstock or thinner sticker sheet then attach/adhesive it to foam board and looking for something that will cut along the border and through all layers of my image. Thanks for the response.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  Год назад +1

      Yes it will Paul, but with foam board you have to run multiple passes at a much lower power and higher speed to keep it from melting. It also depends on the color of the board. Darker is best.

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy excellent. I plan on using black foam board I purchased from hobby lobby. Thanks for the response been watching many reviews and sometimes it's overwhelming.

    Hi Rich, will you populate your lightburn library with the settings for this laser?

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  2 года назад +1

      Well I think you can use any of the 5.5W libraries Umberto. Just edit it as you go. I would reduce the power by 15% to start.

      I'll be up there in Toronto in August visiting family Bill! The countries that the laser manufacturers ship to are their choice, not mine. As you already know, CN has very large tariffs on customs & imports, so nobody like shipping there because it costs too much.
