    Other Method. Using Forms -> Power Automate -> capture the responses -> Push data using API (Push Datasets in Power BI service). Create reports / dashboards on top of that. As data keeps coming, Reports keep updating

      I use that way for a streaming dataset.

    • @BIInfinite99
      @BIInfinite99 3 года назад +27

      @@krynnadin , Follow this process
      Step1: Create you survey
      Step 2: Go to Power BI service, your workspace, click on new, then Streaming dataset. You will see 3 options. Select API option. This is called Push dataset. We are going to create a dataset with in Power Bi service to store the responses. If you have 3 questions then add 3 fields and so on with proper datatypes as per the answers of your questions
      4. Turn on Historical data analysis options (very important) and then create
      5. To push the responses to this dataset, Open Power Automate and look for a template (Add rows to dataset to Power BI after approval of Microsoft form)
      6. In this flow, as you will be connecting to same user email to configure these things, by default you will see your forms and Power BI workspaces and push datasets in the required fields. Map the form questions to the push dataset fields and save the flow
      7. Thats all. If any new responses, flow will be running automatically in the back end and keep pushing the data to the dataset in power BI and data keeps updating
      Hope this Helps!!!

    When you click Open in Excel from the Responses tab of the form, it calls an api to get the Excel file. Use the developer mode in your browser of choice to capture the url of the api and paste it into PBI Desktop. That's how we did it.

    hi Patrick,
    your videos are always very useful and easy to apply in daily work, so thanks for sharing your knowledge.
    I have a question which requires the opposite to what you did in this video.
    How can I get data from PowerBI source to display as choices in MS Forms questions?
    For instance I would like to have a form where the customer name is one of the fields to be entered. Users would need to type the full name of the customer, but if we could just allow them to select it from a list based on our database, that would be great. Is this possible without having to develop a full blown app?
    Thanks
