Belstaff Brooklands jacket review

  • Long acknowledged as the coolest, and easiest to wear, jacket in the company's motorcycle collection, we had somewhat fallen out of love with the Belstaff Brooklands as a biking jacket, because it was simply too short at the back. Cut more for the street than the bike, when leant forward over the bars it nearly always left the back exposed above the jean line. Not great in the rain, but of even more concern if you ended up going down the road!
For some ten years we petitioned to get a longer tail on the Brooklands. Well now it has happened. The change is subtle, but it makes the jacket far better on the bike.
For the first time ever, Belstaff has also given the Brooklands venting, with incoming vents on the biceps, and exhaust vents in the back.
And just to cap it all off, Belstaff has reduced the price by £50, which is unprecedented. To be fair, there's no thermal ling in the 2024 Brooklands, but the old one was tokenistic, at best. And anyway, we would always prefer to bring our own solution tro the party. We'd go for Merino or, in extremis, say the Klim Maverick.

I have always loved my Brooklands, the longer back now is a really significant improvement even on the chopper (where I sit rather upright). But something else is maybe the most spectacular news, the vents. Finally a manufacturer made a jacket with vents that looks good.
I‘ll have to say: If these vents work, I‘ll throw away all of my other jackets.
I have crossed Scotland, England, the Isle of Man and most of Germany in the old Brooklands - now I‘ll cover France, Spain and Italy in a Brooklands as well! 👍😎

Hello. is it Ghost armour? and if it's not, can i replace it with the Ghost?

It’s not Ghost in the jacket, but Ghost L1 or L2 will fit in the pockets. Don’t go for Ghost back protector, it’s heavier and more expensive than normal D3O. If going for L2, get the L2 ‘Air’ protector; it’s lighter, more flexible, and more breathable. CP

@@Motolegends Thank you very much but I'm little confused. I thought that Ghost was most flexible armour from D30. It seems I was wrong

@@user-ko6or5pw5m In theory, yes; but the L1 standard pack protector is lighter and more flexible than the Ghost one. I acknowledge it’s a bit confusing. That’s why we’re here, I suppose! CP
