THIS is how this song should be sung. I get goose bumps every time I hear "him sing" this beautiful, haunting, song. He just absolutely nails this. Just perfect.
Ramin did a good job, if you are in your early twenties, it's really very easy to fall into his emotions and passions -- but, JOJ presents the Phantom. He just conducts the high register like breathing, and leaves the space for people to feel the sadness and desperation. His ver is more persuasive. If you are young and you just lose your girl or boyfriend, Ramin' ver can easily get you cry; but for JOJ's ver, he can get you sleepless and really heartbroken.
Well I think this might just be my favourite vocal performance ever. It's just amazing. It's even miles better than the version JOJ recorded for his album... He is just breathtaking when he sings live.
I love JOJ version, but I just can't stop hearing Ramin's version. I guess I just love the way Ramin shows the passion the Phantom has for Christine. And I guess it also depends on everyone's view of Phantom. To be honest, I don't quite understand about technique and everything, but if you hear the recording from his album, he can reach the high notes just fine..
This is the ultimate version of this song. It's better than Karimloo's, and even better than JOJ's album version or that the other live versions on RUclips. It's just extraordinary, this one.
I doubt that's why. Ramin does have a tendency to put more emotion into his performances, at least in terms of when yelling or screaming is required, and it may have worn his voice more. He easily has the range, and his technique is fine. Watch the Olivier Awards, and you'll see how well he does when he has adequate time to rest his voice.
See, I thought I hated this song with a passion. And then after this, I realized I just hated Ramin Karimloo because he struggles in the upper register.
oh yes he does....his technique is nowhere as good as John's...hence why he had to go down to 6 shows a week part way through the run of the show. He had to do the same with Valjean in Les Mis because he was consistently missing high notes...
Yeah I agree with you! BTW the phantom role in LOVE NEVER DIES was WRITTEN for Ramin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So mr. Dante, get your knowledge straight before you talk such bullshit!

I loved this song the first time I heard it. I loved it even more when I heard JOJ sing it!! Ahhh!
The way John Owen Jones sings this song is just lovely. He truly has one of the best voices ever in musical theatre.

John Owen Jones will forever be my number 1 Phantom

Brilliant........just simply brilliant. He is one of the few voices that literally give me shivers.
Good Lord, this is incredible.
Simply the BEST!!
Beautiful. Just...beautiful.
Who else thinks JOJ should play the Phantom if they ever brought Love Never Dies back to London?
Skillful, sometime soft and gentle , sometime passionate yet a bit arrogant he's the best Phantom we have ever had
One of the three phantoms would be alright.
hes my all time favorite phantom

@Chris Fuglestad. He doesn't struggle in the upper register, but in terms of tone in his high chest voice he does get a bit thinner than JOJ.
Better than Ramin~

Hahaha what 😂
Are you kidding me? Ramin does not struggle in the upper registers. Listen to his version of this from the Olivier Awards
