good music - I agree. Discovered him in Les Miz in concert last November. Daughter and I knew we were getting “the substitute.” Ha! Were we wrong. He was fantastic. Have listened to many great voices sing this song on video and audio; JOJ is by far my favorite Valjean and just lately has become me favorite singer.
I ve always thought that only a girl should sing this song, but John has proved the exception. This is exactly how it should be sung, no anger, just extreme sadness, and exactly the right amount of power up...John would make a great Fantine

He is extremely good in interpreting a piece of music! That said he has the necessary tools in his quiver, well placed and -trained voice, musicality.
