Color is subjective but in my opinion out of the entire Pro II and Ultra line in both rosewood and maple options, this is the nicest finish. It has a similar sparkle paint to that of the ultras, the mystic green has such a rock and roll and a soft john mayer vibe to it all at once. I think rosewood is a no brainer on this finish. I think this is going to be the one I'm getting
August 2024 Fender is discounting prices on all new guitars. Bought a new American Professional II in sunburst with maple neckboard for well under the Msrp price.
I bought same mystic surf green with rosewood neck in May 21 from S water. Great demo of this axe. I’m still bonding with it and glad I have it. Beautiful color.
Saw your comment below about maple vs rosewood fretboard and couldn't agree more... You enjoy things so much better if you have a stronger bond with it. I definitely can't hear the difference between a maple and rosewood fretboard but I sure as hell love that maple fretboard look with the mystic surf green (got mine coming next-day air). Plus Jimi was a maple strat kinda guy!! Dope playing and awesome vid quality btw my guy. Subscribed!!
Great review of the pro ll, which happens to be my guitar, and i love it. Mine is 3colour sunburst, whith a mint pick guard, and rosewood fret board. Truely classic 60s look...i love it.😂
I got mine last year, It's a great guitar in terms of feel, sound and playability. The only issue I have with mine is that there is some fret buzz on the higher frets. When I bend higher notes on higher strings, they start to choke out. I don't want to lower or higher the action because it plays like butter, but I'm not sure what I can do about those higher frets.
where can I get the backing track you used for the guitar demo or did you make it yourself. that backing track and the guitar sounds really sick! I can't want to pick one up myself.
I'm looking at hopefully purchasing this guitar this month, but I'm looking at the maple neck is there much of a tone change between that guitar and the maple? Most of my guitars are Rosewood so would like something different there, I'm unable to test the guitar due to the pandemic and looking that I will have to buy online sadly
boy, that's the big question, isn't it? i assume we're talking fingerboard material and not neck material. both necks are maple. here's where i come down on this: i'm not a crazy audiophile and my ears aren't tuned to hear a significant difference between maple, rosewood, and ebony boards. i own guitars that have each of those. people say rosewood is darker and maple and ebony are brighter. ok, i don't exactly hear it, but i have noticed that i play differently on a maple or ebony board than i do a rosewood board. that i can recognize. rosewood is softer and i somehow, subconsciously, change the way i'm playing. but then we come to modern guitars that have jumbo frets where the strings don't even touch the fretboard and i can't, for the life of me, see how board material could matter (this guitar does not have jumbo frets, i'm just ranting at this point). i think our preference is our preference, whether it's logical or not, because we're humans and our brains are weird. at the end of the day, i'd say buy whichever you think looks the coolest.
I just dropped 1200 on one of these. I will be doing some mods for sure. I have an ultra lux and never bonded with the augmented D neck profile. It doesnt feel right, like a strat should. Selling that. So I went with this in the green, I also have the tele in green and P bass in green, I guess I have a green collection going on. I may need help… Im addicted to the mystic green!
you know, these builders fluctuate on their neck profiles so much, i've seen "medium C", "slim C", and "vintage C" and i'm not terribly certain those things are standardized or just names manufacturers put on their own neck profiles. one thing that this guitar and suhr have in common is the rolled necks.
i'm going to try to keep from going on a rant here, but i might. first off, the american pro II is a very modern guitar. it's very sleek and comfortable and designed for the modern player. they've nodded to some vintage vibes with aesthetics, but it's definitely not a vintage inspiration. nash is heavily relic'd to feel like a vintage instrument. (rant forthcoming if you want to end there). i don't play nash guitars anymore. at one time, i found them to be good enough, but that was about it. they are pre fabricated bodies and necks that are then relic'd (albeit nicely) and marked up in price. the truth is that there are tons of great builders out there in the same price range who are hand carving their necks and bodies and in some cases (like seuf guitars) winding their own pickups by hand. so if you're in the market for a vintage inspired guitar, i'd tilt you away from nash and point you in the direction of someone like seuf, rather than a neat looking warmouth. (rant over). if you're looking for a great modern strat, you cannot go wrong with the american pro ii!
@@DemosInTheDark Thanks for the detailed response!! I had a Nash Tele a few years ago that I just could not bond with. I have a MIM Robert Cray Strat that I just love. But these new Pro II's are really nice looking! Cheers man!
Got all excited to play these and went to order one after watching your video but Fender has banned all companies like zzounds, American musical, and sweetwater from offering financing. Such a freaking bummer
@@DemosInTheDark that’s what I thought too but called today and confirmed it was true. SweetwAter isn’t even allowed to do their no interest promotions. It’s crazy
Hi, great demo, just wondered why all strat or strat style guitars seem to give out rattle and twang sounds while strumming/playing chords; my strat style guitar does the same also. It seems to come from the bridge saddles, as I think that the height adjusting grub screws never seem a good fit in the threads. Sometimes it can be quite off putting, but it may just be the nature of these types of Bridges with floating saddles. When you cranked up the sound it just seems to dissapear, maybe it's just at low volume you notice. Always enjoy your demo's.
yeah, i guess trem systems in general have a bit more metal movement than a hardtail would. i can't say it's ever really bothered me. haha! thanks for the kind words!
Could be your springs depending on how your trem is adjusted. You can put a piece of thin foam under them and it might help with that or pick up a set of coated “noiseless” springs.
This just isn't it for me again... I really love Surf Green but I hate a metallic paint job on a Fender. I also hate those narrow spaced dots, it ruins the whole look of the guitar, I want wide spaced dots like on a classic strat. Besides that I want a six point bridge, a true Spaghetti logo and probably the most important: a nitro finish! Who is gonna pay almost 2000 euro's for a guitar without nitro? Only the smell of nitro makes me want to pay more to get one. Please Fender, offer us a Surf Green strat in the American Original Series (that is only if you get rid of that Transition logo and narrow spaced dots).
CORRECTION: body is alder. roasted pine is the natural finishes. was not clear in materials i had before release. thanks! - ry
The sounds you’re getting are insane!! Love it.
super cool guitar, man!

Looks beautiful in the Mystic Surf Green but seriously Fender at this level can we please have locking tuners?
I hate that I found this channel. Now I need a new strat and a monarch!
Great stuff, by far the best demo I've seen of the new AmPro series.
1. i'm sorry. 2. THANK YOU!
The best demo on RUclips
whoa! thanks! 🙏
@@DemosInTheDark thanks to you! 🤟💀🤟
Awesome demo Ryan, wonderful playing as always and oh man the dirty sound through the Monarch is SWEET!
hey thanks, megan! huge compliment coming from someone of your talent level!
Nice! That's a thing of beauty, thanks for the thorough review, Ryan.
you bet, my friend! 👊

Great playing as always, and that Mystic Seafoam looks killer!
hey thanks!
It’s actually called Mystic Surf. 👍
Thanks for sharing! That finish is 🔥!!!
univibe - fuzz - strat. tough to beat!
No locking tuners??.. This should be the standard now, especially on Trem guitars!
phil, i think this is a great guitar, but i also love locking tuners, so i know where you’re coming from.
I have the Olympic white with a rose wood board .....love that mystic green so much I ordered one of those to

Body is Alder on this Strat and all except the Sienna Burst, being Roasted Pine (and the clear finish Roasted Pine, obviously). Great playing btw.
yup. got that. wasn’t in the materials i was given before release.
Killer Ryan! Thanks 🙏 buddy.
cheers trent!

hey! i write and produce all of the demo tracks. definitely pick up an am pro II. killer guitars!
@@DemosInTheDark I ended up picking one up after my original comment. And you're right, they're great guitars that sound sick!
they changed the surf green??????
This is Mystic Surf Green! Basically a surf green metallic but Surf Green still exists on other models ;)
Great video!
Thanks!

Does anyone know if the Tremolo bar is a screw in or push in? Hopefully no slack.
push in!
Demos In The Dark awesome. Thank you
no sweat!
Hows the neck, beefy at all??
it’s a “deep c”, but not chunky or clunky at all. feels really really good!

Killer playing. Awesome guitar. I have the same guitar in 3 color burst that should be here Thursday. Rosewood fingerboard.
exciting! you’ll love it!
For a line marketed as being for Professionals, I think these guitars should have locking tuners as standard for faster string changes.
i do love locking tuners! would be nice to be standard.

Not roasted pine, Alder,on your model.
🔥🔥🔥 👀
I prefer ash and alder, over pine.
