Thank you so much for these videos. I'm 62, widower, semi-retired and have looked into Drive-Away services for years. Starting CDL training here in Los Angeles next few weeks to get my CDL-A. Love to stay in touch..Alan
I am school bus driver. Last summer i worked seasonal for quality drive away. It was a good experience but i did stress some over the logistics of find taxi and bus transportation as well as hotels to stay in. It would be nice to find a company that provides some extra direction in this matter, it can be costly and time consuming. I may still drive trucks and buses this summer and am considering a tow vehicle. Thanks for the video.
+MrBillpam91 I am not sure if there is such a company. I think there is one called Transportation Services of America (TSA for short). I can't remember the exact name, but you should be able to google it. :)
Hello, ive Been watching your Videos! I Do Have My Class A CDL But ive Had to File For Disibility. I need to know if you Can only Work Enough To match your Disibility so you Dont make to much! Ive been told you can only make so much money! ! Then when my Daughter ! Goes off to collage my wife will join me on the road hauling Campers! She wants to Do Drive Away! I want to buy a truck to pull a5thwheel! Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
I have a good drivers license from Florida class e 26,001 lbs and under its good any where in the United States except Tennessee..I have a suspension for child support from Tennessee...So my question is would I be able to do drive away or towaway rv
I drove for quality drive away. I like being able to go all over the states, but did not like having to find my way back home. If you plan it out correctly you could make really good money, It is good to know someone else in the area to get back to home base. I drove for this company about 3 years first year was a little hard learning it
hello I just found your videos .First thank you for these.I wanted to ask you do you know of any company that hire in TX that hire people that just have regular D.L.s ? an don't need experience? Thank you again. love the videos
Do you have/make time to chat with anyone via phone? I'm a (temporary) full time uber driver looking to do rv drive away as a side gig (no cdl yet). I have a lot of questions re: whether or not this would be a good part time gig. Thank you, Clayton, Fresno, CA
I use to have a class B CDL with airbrake endorsement but all I have now is a class C driver license. I have the experience with larger vehicles but I've been disabled due to back surgeries. I can drive but I just can't do heavy lifting anymore. Should I try to get into this? Thanks for video, I subscribed.
There isn't a ton of money in it, but you won't have to do any real heavy lifting besides what you take with you. If you get a tow car, then you might have some heavy work to do when you connect the car.
Hey bro .. love your vids.. good info.. I am in transition from driving semi to RV transport ..looking into camping world / horizon .. looking into leasing a truck ...any additional info?
I want to get involved in driving or eventually towing once i can aford to buy a pickup.but ive drove over the road for 40 yrs and no accidents or tickets i want to do what y'all do.
I am researching the possibility of transporting RV's and have been watching videos but I haven't seen one subject discussed...are you allowed to sleep in the vehicle you are towing/driving? If you have a sleeping bag and your own pillow, is it allowed? If I have my truck, I will sleep in that but if I am driving a Class A or C, it would save looking for a hotel.
I have that answered buried in one of my videos, not sure which one. You are allowed to sleep in it, however, some places don't want you to use the bed or couch (they want you to sleep on the floor). That being said, I don't know anyone who sleeps on the floor. You should have a sleeping bag and pillow, so you don't actually use the pillows or blankets in the RV.
What is the pay rate for this type of job? Could my husband do this full-time? This would be the perfect job for him. He loves to travel, and I work from home so I would appreciate the peace and quiet. Or could I go along with him sometimes?
Let's Go Road Trippin after fuel, insurance, vehicle ware and such you cleared 3k?? Or was that gross revenue? Thanks. I do lawn care but there are only 20 some odd weeks to make money in this field.
awesome videos! what's the pay rate at horizon? I am thinking about hauling trailers on a 40ft flatbed trailer. have you ever seen how the load the trailers on them?
I have been out of the driving game for over a year, I don't know what there pay is currently. I am not sure how they get them up there. I am pretty sure there is a winch on the trailer.
I'm looking to get out of the corporate rat race. I'm highly self-motivated. Two questions.. 1) can I start this time of year and get full-time hours? 2) if I'm on the road full time, do you have a range I can expect to make?
This time of the year tends to slow down. I would suggest taking a look at the list of videos in this playlist. Many of your questions can be answered here (there are no quick black and white answers). ruclips.net/video/xL_GNr_lLcc/видео.html Also, keep in mind, I have not doe this job in 5+ years. Do your research on it, to make sure it is for you.
Van Stiller You will be busier than a standard Driver's license. I had previously had the CDL B w/ Air and P endorsements. No one will promise work all year, but I had very little problem keeping very busy, with a slow down during December into February. I still had some work, just not as much as the rest of the year. Having a tow car is helpful. Next week's video goes into detail. A quick summary is; having a tow car is very helpful. I hope this helps you out!
I have applied for and have been approved for Horizon Transport, but 1st found a job for Quality Drive Away, and yes, I had to do some youtube research from actual drivers themselves. a lot of my recent experience, 6 years of when needed, has been Class B operations, but have a Class A with Passenger Endorsement. Have over 6 years Class A Operations, just not recent!!! CR England has me for a refresher course, but I do not want to go back cross country trucking though. I am thinking very seriously about getting a Tanker endorsement, would this be an added perk? My biggest initial concern, is not having a tow vehicle, I do not want to take my present car as a tow vehicle, because it is not set up for one. I feel a tow vehicle will be advised though. Just trying to get the money up to get me a nice reliable Hochie Wagon if I do. Just wondering how long it will be before such money would start to work it's way, so I can get one? 1-6 months? Also, Pet's? Have two small dogs. And yes, they are my fur babies, so I do not want to get rid of them!!!
Some will take you on a quick drive to make sure you can handle a large vehicle. No CDL required. Some companies give safety training, no on the road training that I have heard of
Man you have a lot of videos. I don't know if you covered this in a video, Did you have to go to RV driving school or some type of Truck school. I know how to drive, but I think most people never drove anything that huge.
love video. ..i have work for a drive a way company in the past.the downside is deadhead! !! you know any company that will paid part or some of deadhead. Because going too your next assignment my not be next do.this is part of the business so we all should share the down size of the business thanks.
I wish I had an answer for you on that. This is the first time I have had that question. Are RVs a big thing in Europe? They are a huge industry in the states.
can you give me an idea of what it's like to be paid by these companies. is it good, great? do they send you a check, do they reimburse you for gas? that type of thing thank you
I have many videos on driveaway. here is one that helps answer your question. ruclips.net/video/dbnKXpPpL-4/видео.html. It is kind of long, but should give you plenty of information
Hmm... Excellent question! You will need a US Driver's license, a Social Security Number, a green card, and be insurable. There may be more, but I am not sure. If you get a chance, just call one of the companies about it. If you happen to call and find out before I do, please post a reply for other people!
Depends on the company. I no longer do it, and couldn't give you current rates. Depending on how hard you want to work, you can make really good money, from what some people have TOLD me. I was making around $30,000- $40,000 per year, and I was NOT out all the time. I was probably working about 60% of what I could, as I had other things, too.
YES! Retirees! Come to Elkhart and take our jobs! Bring your own brand-new tow cars! Or fly home on your own money! Stay in motels. Eat every meal in full-service restaurants. In other words, spend your own money to do the job. Hold down our pay. The company will love you. Scabs.
Depends on the company. Some no, some once a year, some a little more than once a year. Some companies don't care at all. Companies change their rules sometimes, so you should ask when you call.
This entire industry sucks as a whole 99% of these companies do not reimburse anything except tolls, an permits. Unless you already have minimum 5 figures in your bank....don't waste your time. Former driver in this industry.
Bummed that you were not happy with it. The job is not for everyone, that is for sure! Like I say in other videos, this is DEFINITELY not a "get rich" job. But, I understand how you feel. Good luck in your future work, no matter what it is :)

Awesome. I am glad to help. With your class A, you shouldn't have any problems finding work, not just in Drive Away.
Great. Short factual good job!
Very informative.
Perfect.....thank you!
Thanks for the information...

Do the manufacturers of motorhimes hire directly ? Or is it better to deal with the purchasing sales lots ?

How do you get the 6 months experience, I'm lost, need help,Thanks Diana
Start with a company like Synergy Transport or Horizon. There are plenty of companies that will hire people with little or no experience

Lori C i was making around $3000 - $4000 per month pre-tax. Full time. I could easily make more if I wanted to with a little more effort
What would you suggest for a tow vehicle? I'm just discovering your videos. Maybe you mentioned this before.

Van Stiller Thank you for your kind words! I will keep making them. :D
I have a class A with all the endorsements plus otr

Any chance you can contact me regarding the transport of a vehicle?
I was told that you are responsible for all gas or diesel, food, motel expenses is this right?
Yes, but I rarely used hotels / motels
What are the average startup costs for the driveway division?
Been too long, I am not really sure anymore.
You have to have large vehicle experience? And a Cdl? They won't train u?

Thanks, I fixed it. Sorry about the slow reply, this was in the spam section.

I hated deadhead. My dispatcher at Horizon worked pretty hard at finding me what he could. Sometimes it was great, sometimes it was nonexistent.
Let's Go Road Trippin ....are you able to work for more then one company? This way you won't have to wait for your next assignment

Do I qualify even if I have 3 points on my license?
Not sure. Just call a couple of companies and see what they say.
Hey dude. You made this video 4 years ago. Are you still driving, and is it still this easy?
I stopped driving a while ago. It is a bit easy to get into it, as long as you have a clean driving record.
I have Questions!
Possible for non American citizens to take part?
Hmm... Excellent question! You will need a US Driver's license, a Social Security Number, a green card, and be insurable. There may be more, but I am not sure. If you get a chance, just call one of the companies about it. If you happen to call and find out before I do, please post a reply for other people!
Approximately how much does this pay ? Is it a worthwhile full time job ?
25 to 75000 yr
What's the pay?

Try Synergy
YES! Retirees! Come to Elkhart and take our jobs! Bring your own brand-new tow cars! Or fly home on your own money! Stay in motels. Eat every meal in full-service restaurants. In other words, spend your own money to do the job. Hold down our pay. The company will love you. Scabs.
