A selection of scenes from the Mars and Earth peace summit in Season 2. The sequence is edited slightly to avoid the whole video being copyright blocked. An unavoidable necessity unfortunately.

“Do as you’ve been instructed, Sergeant.” A line with several layers. Love that shit in media.
yeah I didn't catch that one at first, that it's basically an order to follow martian orders, but everything in this show has so many layers, so well written it is.
Oh holy shit you just revealed something awesome to me.
Funnily enough, the first second I heard it, I thought he meant "say what we told you to say before we came here", then I had to rewind to realize he also meant what Chrisjen told her lmao.
@@MamadNobari I didn't watch this can you tell me what happened?
@@vermorn "Do as you've been instructed" both means "Keep talking like Avasarala has asked" as well as "Tell the false story that we told you to give".
This entire scene alone made her my favorite character in the series. I loved her line of “Whoever the fuck you are, stand down and let her speak!” 👏🏽
Same
Same. Prior to that, I just had her pictured as an opinionated and bullheaded person who charged into things like a bull in a china shop.
This scene made me realize she's a badass on a whole new level.
I like Chrisjen. She is my favorite, but I don’t get her swearing. At some point it started to increase, but I don’t think it fits the character very well.
@@attenberg I like the swearing. It comes out of nowhere, and it doesn't really fit the actors image, but I think that just makes the character better. Chrisjen is a maverick, she will do whatever she wants to get her way, and she's not shy about. I think the shock and uneasyness at seeing her swear adds to her image as an uncontrollable and unapologetic statesman.
@@attenbergshe's tame in the show compared to the books 😂
I love the panic in Bobby's voice when she recalls seeing an enemy without a vacsuit. The cat's out of the bag
Everyone knew then. After that the politics kicked in.
"Whatever I goddamn liiike!" Avasarala is one of the best characters to ever grace both books & screen.
Queen.
It was cringe.

It's such a shame that Avasarala only got to shine in her full glory in the final season of this show. In the books, she's always like this, curses like a sailor and embarrasses the hell out of everyone she's with by making them feel very uncomfortable. She is my favorite character in the series by far.
A complete ' Dont give a shit'' lady, the only one i know in real life thats even remotely like her is my biology GCSE teacher.
She is a powerful leader. I like her political acumen. She will use everything and anyone to get things done as she is a patriot.
its a shame she is buried in Laconia. fukin Laconia empire

Came for a thread about how cool Averserala is...
Got spoilers about her death...
This is why no one likes people that can't think about what they say, just sayin'.
Can't even say LaconiaN right...
She cursed enough all through the series to make a Marine of any nation blush. I worked with a gentleman that had been a US Marine and when he got frustrated he would turn four swear words into one. Damn I need to see him again.
God damn I love the "He wasn't wearing a vac suit!"
Keyword is 'Wasn't'
In the first part she was being silent but every gesture and every tilt of her head suggested there was a lot going on in her mind. Her acting is absolutely remarkable and unsurpassable.
Her acting is shit

I love how Errinwright has a miniature “Hang on a second” look the moment Draper has someone was out on Ganymede without a vac suit.
That short look was the moment cracks began to form in Errinwright's faith in his conspiracy being for the good of Earth.
@@Sky_Guy more that he realised that Mao was selling protomolecule to Mars, resulting in the deaths of all Mao's Martian allies, forcing him to work for Errinwright and Nguyen
@@Fr0st1989 erinwright is a complex character
His only motive was save mother earth and he believes by creating a war before mars can have naval supremacy is right thing to do
Shohreh Aghdashloo is a very talented actress and she f** shines in thoses scenes. Also she has the most unique, powerfull, chill giving voice. One of the best casting decision in the history of televison, she IS Avasarala.
Luckily Jennifer Lawrence thinks she is the only female leading badass woman. 😂
2:24 and onwards: Avasarala doesn't give two shits about what the martian Commander says. She solely looks at Bobbie, watching her reaction when her fellow comrades files were shown
"An entire nation dedicated to a common goal, to turn a lifeless rock into a garden"... a dear friend told me that. He wanted to retire to Mars but he died"
Errinwright be like "I'll pretend I didn't hear that"
he didn't killed Graff but allowed to happen by private contractors aka mao's company
7:09 is an amazing line honestly! That officer seemed intimidating up to that point by controlling someone strong like Bobby. The fact that Crisjen speaks to him like he's a nobody and he just has to take it makes her so badass :)
He is a nobody, in the sense that he has not been named to the Delegations as a representative. He is not an Diplomat was not supposed to open his unaccredited mouth. Notice that the Martians don't name him even after this.
Never realized it at 0:35 but Bobby act so shocked that the Blues actually get hold of her power armor, some of the latest, state of the art Martian tech instead of just receiving Earther investigators on their embassy for an examination. From the previous parts when she rigorously cleaned it, the armor is definitely an extension of her body that's been ripped from her.
at least there could have been some comfort in the fact the suit was busted up from the encounter with the hybrid. Earth wasnt exactly going to reverse engineer it after that
This was the juice of the whole show. How far we came in terms of technology and how we didn't in terms of power struggles.
From Flint tipped Spears to Nukes. Diplomacy never changed.
5:41-5:47 my favourite Avasarela line.
My favorite Expanse line period
I like to think she did that scene in one take.
Its s tier but my fave will always be "don't put you dick in it Holden, it's fucked enough already"
@@johnnyfox8934 Same here
The moment when we all fell in love with her.
I just love Avasarala's character being completely unashamedly Indian wearing her saris, bindis and jewellery to UN summits like some Indian battle maiden. Kudos to the Expanse for giving such justice to an Indian character for a change. She's SUCH a queen.
Missing a great show like THE EXPANSE in 2023. There are no ground breaking shows like this anymore!

Only just started watching this. 5:43
The pure unadulterared SASS on that legend of a woman
the way the captain and the martian general tense up when bobbie starts to unravel their narrative is incredible, and errinwright picking their tenseness up and piquing his interest as avasarala grills bobbie as to how travis could possibly misstep so badly and endanger his squad
I know that most people love her whenever-line, but my fav is "Whoever the fuck you are, stand down and let her speak". I hope to use it one day somewhere :)
6:32 I love the unease in their expressions as they slowly realize she’s creeping closer and closer to the truth and they can’t stop her
Love the way this scene plays out. Crisjen notices how uncomfortable Bobby is about the whole "Travis panicked and opened fire" thing (understandable, given that an innocent patriot and fellow soldier was meant to take the blame and go down in history as the one responsible for thousands of deaths), then Crisjen moves to completely outwit the Martians by pointing out that there is no way Bobby would not be fit enough to answer questions, how she brings up that not allowing Bobby to answer questions would run afoul of the supposed goal of the summit and then how she opens up conversation with Bobby.
She doesn't sugarcoat anything either, she talks about how Eartheners don't work, how they are refered to as "takers", but also explains that it's due to lack of opportunity... this then leads into people moving to Mars, to look for an opportunity for themselves or their children.
Masterfully written. But then you add the "no fucks given" attitude of Crisjen and how she whips those military fellows with her status... perfection!
The way she played chess with those questions. Ugh... chef's kiss.
Bobbie and Chrisjen are the best thing about the expanse
Avasarala owned that entire room
Anyone other than Shoreh delivering those lines wouldn't have had the same impact on this scene.
5:43 damn. What a powerful actress this is to make such a simple line work so fucking well
"Wherever I goddamn like!" with a perfect smile... gets me every time.
Not only is she a fantastic actor, but lady will be sexy when she's 124.
The expanse is such a good show.
She is one of my favorite characters by far
It's so great that moviemakers showed Martians as a real power and threat, nevermind their quantity. You'll see the real power of martians tech!
“Wherever I goddamn like”.

My pleasure! The ubiquitous scene that launched the character of Avasarala to another level.
@@speculativefuture9568Agreed. I'd love to see a video of bobbie's full defection from this video to the beach to when Avasarala hires her

Avasarala is amazing
OK...fine...I'll watch the expanse again
It's at this moment where she should have requested Asylum and then told the entire truth.
It's still miles better than in the book - there the hybrid was almost open knowledge, and Bobby became basically Awasarala's errand girl.
Shohreh Aghdashloo is a favorite of mine, she's a phenomenal actress in my view. As Avasara, she helped make this show AWESOME. la
"Thank your Sgt Draper, We are never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down" - Space Admiral Rick Astley.
Sorry never saw the show but look at that guy. Its Rick!
Once & future queen
Avasarala is the goat
The racism that Travis had to endure from fellow Martians was interesting, because Bobbie herself wasn't exempt from feeling it herself. When he'd get verbally attacked, Draper would break it up... but not address it. She wouldn't dress down the Martian girl that pretty much always started the verbal beating, or made sure it wouldn't happen again in any way. She'd stop it, well aware that it would start all over again.
I doubt that Bobbie would have allowed a Martian-born member of her unit to be disparaged. Deep down, Bobbie had no real problem with the 'Earther' getting verbally roughed up, beyond her duty to keep fights from happening. In that, she failed as a military team leader. Given how she looks highly uncomfortable at Avrasarala's line about prejudice, she's well aware of that, and holds guilt over letting a member of her team down.
Wherever I god damn like!
Broh…this show is fucking next level..: yall don’t even know
It occurs to me that they could've increased the believability of the official story if Bobbie had included the comms disruption and suggested that it was the trigger that caused them to start opening fire.
I suspect that, ironically, it was the same anti-Earther bigotry that inspired the higher-ups to use the Earther immigrant as the scapegoat. Even though there were better cover stories available.
Draper: He wasn't wearing a Vac suit! Whoever the fuck you are, stand down and let her speak! ( Shit has hit the fan)
"whoever the fuck you are, let her speak".
Avasarala is fucking great. Bravo, Shohreh Aghdashloo.
The scene is better in the show compared to the book
I heard someone say they were acting like teens throwing insults at each other,
Wonder what they have to say after the US-China Alaska Summit
Earth is supposed to represent western first world powers whereas Mars represents second world rising powers (ussr/china)
Gods that voice is grating.
Shohreh Aghdashloo and Frankie Adams are probably the best reason for this series.
I can't agree with you
What made me open fire ? EVERYTHING THEY DO IN THE DARK!!!!!!
Wherever I God damn like :D
For some reason I feel strong Avenger vibes in this scene, particularly the Natasha vs Loki interrigation part.
One thing I never quite understood is why were the peace talks held on Earth? Why not a slightly more removed third party like Luna? Was it just so the UN could try to inconvenience the Martians in as many ways as possible?
Most Martians, even diplomats, never get to visit earth. Plus MCR is still the underdog, so UN gets to control the plays.
Mars was trying to make it seem like they didn't have the upper hand here, so they could continue their protomolecule research.
It's a shame to think that humanity is still sending its mothers and daughters to war.

so sad this show ended i just finished for all mankind yesterday a more realistic approach to space
5:42 so effing funny
Can someone tell me what the implications are of ‘he wasn’t wearing a vac suit’?
Ganymede has no atmosphere. No human could survive long, let alone fight, without equipment protecting them from the vacuum of space (ie a vac suit).
However, in one of the prior episodes, Bobby saw a naked humanoid creature on Ganymede's surface rip both her squad and the opposing UN one apart; their unexplained deaths triggered a brief war (hence the peace summit). Some politicians on both sides know that's what happened. Others (like Avasarala, the lady in the sari) do not. There's a huge scheme involved that takes a few seasons to fully unravel, but the line about the lack of vac suit is the moment it first comes to light.
They were on Ganymede, a basically airless snowball orbiting Jupiter. To not have a vac suit is to invite death.
Earth and Mars are experimenting with alien nanites to create supersoldiers that can survive in space without a suit. This is very super secret and could start a war if found out. One of the experiments escaped and attacked the Earth soldiers. The Mars Marines saw this. And now the white Earth guy in this scene realizes it because Boby (the Mars marine) accidentally revealed what she'd seen. Go watch the show, it's very good and everyone is playing the aliens game without knowing it! Also the aliens have been dead for millions of years so it's automated nanites all the way down!
I fucking love Avasarala. Bobbie, too. In fact, aside from Amos, all the best characters in this show are women.

@@adit0571 No, the MUN was done in Gallipoli/Turkey. It was based on an Expanse-like scenario.
Great series, but too bad they didn't devise a generalized Martian accent to match the work they did with the Belters' lingo. Even here on earth, an accent is developing among Antarctic scientists.
That was supposed to be Alex's accent. Texans and South Indians colonized Valles Marineris, that's why Alex talked with a drawl.
I don't know about other characters as I never got that far into the books just yet.
I will be perfectly satisfied if she was a representative in my country’s government right now today
Ah a TV show pushing UBO as if it is inevitable and a good idea. Got to love TV in this century.
It’s…not pushing it as a good idea? Basic literally traps people into a near endless cycle of poverty and breeding, humanity on earth is screwed but the powers that be want a massive workforce at their beck and call. The show and books both tell us this
Sci-fi communism sounds like hell. Why can't people start small businesses? Where is private innovation? I'd move to Mars too. At least they appreciate the value of hard work and personal effort.
It's not communism, it's the best case scenario for capitalism
@@redhippopotamus9144 🙄
Nobody's going to loan you money. Your income is predictable as are your chances at upward mobility. Private innovation occurs about as much as it does in real life. Less than 1% of people. If you don't have enough personal wealth to meet certain thresholds you can't enterprise. If you do enterprise your endeavors are likely doomed unless you have the most predictive models. Then you have to consider your sweat-equity, how long before you start making a profit. Did you set enough aside to feed and house yourself while you pray your opportunity pays off? To do that requires hundreds of times the wealth the average person possesses. If you're serious about the business you won't be able to work another job to get it off the ground in this competitive atmosphere. You'll be lucky if you get to sleep. You'll be lucky if things will settle enough one day to start a family.
Communism, capitalism... they both have the same problem that turns them into parodies of what they're supposed to be: greed.
The greed is based in a primal fear of not having enough and a desire to have more than others for leverage. Quality of life is the poorly defined pursuit that can be as nebulous as the difference between being hungry or watching someone you dislike succeed.
It's all based on cynicism. Someone always takes control and siphons off the majority for their cronies. The best government you can get is the one where the most people suffer the least and that's really sad.
TLDR get a job!
The shows and books tell you that basic is awful. Yea it sounds horrible, cause it is, but the alternative was losing millions to dying by poverty, plus chaos, plus it is enough for most to get by on, but since all they do is breed and breathe they’re pressured and regulated to keep it stable.
it is impossible to colonize mars unless entire universe's weoght distribution is balanced to ensire survival of earth , and gravity amd water cycles at particular heat levels are ensured
The hells are you talking about
Drop colony
Feed colony
As long as humans can pump blood and grow sufficiently in 0.38g, that’s all that matters, and it seems that any real amount of gravity allows this

Compared to the books this is a terrible pick to play Avasarala.
I agree. Aghadashloo sounds like a PITA, I don't know why people think she's so great in this role: pointless swearing, gravel voice exploited by the series till it became ridiculous. She's a great actor, but the character was a bit ridiculous with all her irrelevant cussing. The book character was much more sophisticated and more likeable.
It's amazing how unlike the books this terrible, terrible show is.
