Our 2017 Outlander SE with FAST key has a problem! When FAST key battery is dead and you try the Metal key to unlock the door, you can! Cause the 12 volt battery powers the total electric door operation. The metal key turning left/right Does Nothing, it just auto returns to the middle, then you press the door handle button to cycle the lock/unlock! Imagine what happens when 12 volt battery IS Dead? Can't get into car to pop hood! Manual shows pictures that turning the key unlocks/locks but that is NOT true! This is a major problem!

Sorry, but this is a confusing post. Initially, you say you can unlock the door, but finish with you can't. Is there a problem with the 12-volt battery?? We don't have experience with the 2017 and don't have access to manuals, but instinct says the lock is mechanical. Regardless, head over to NHTSA.gov and check for a recall...

@@DashboardSymbols Yesterday went to the dealer, yes it IS mechanical, but actuator and key part were not aligned, so turning the key did nothing! Tech aligned, now metal key opens/locks.
