This seems not so hard for a foil/epee fencer. I used to hit golf balls hanging from string. I'd even try to time the swing after I hit it so that I could lunge and hit it again on the backswing. The trick was to full extend before the lunge. Much better aim that way. I think the problem is, few people would ever attack like that these days. There just isn't any advantage to it under modern rule interpretations. So why practice it?
