- Fishing near Phoenix International Raceway can be a little risky. Every time I have been there I have heard gunshots, there is a lot of trash, and a lot of people have had there stuff stolen. There are good fish there but you fish at your own risk.

I love fishing here! I park and walk every time I go there, can't get far but it's a lot of fun!
I been fishing there for twenty plus years guys never had I ever had any issues there with people (dogs maybe a couple times) but there are a lot of knuckle heads there shooting and such so ya be careful and enjoy catching fish at one of the best places to fish in the valley. Keep your second amendment on you and you’ll be fine 👌👍🏼

I’ve taken my kayak out there once can’t believe how shallow it is 4feet at the most. I saw placo fish everywhere in there. Never catch anything east of the bridge tried once on the west side. I might try it again soon just hate the shooting down there.
Im glad you always have a good time there but yes always keep your head on a swivel.. Try out the east side of the bridge at some point if you explore more, more creeks !!
Where is the access for the east side?
Hey Jake slayed them again ,it's hard to stay focused out there especially that area having to worry about your vehicle, wish people would be more respectful, but fishing AZ is awesome all year and that's for the technique

You probably snapped off the bass because that armored catfish (Pleco) nicked your line. They got some sharp parts.

The Pleco's are a popular freshwater aquarium fish. I remember hearing guys saying they would get bite on the fly forums. And that there in the Gila River/Salt in some numbers if memory serves. Looks like a fun trip but I don't know much about that area 👍
@@ericbonofacio4695 I've been down at the Gila when they were so thick you couldn't wade without stepping on them. And they will smack most flies that look like vegetation... grewn Simi Seal leeches, Wooly Buggers, etc. They will eat worms. I've seen them heading minnows. I've seen people get them on jerkbaits in the mouth... so they're adapting.
My pb at pir is 3.8lbs , there is some good bass there but a lot of sketchy people there . love the vid
Fished there countless times, never had an incident. People will fire their weapons out there sure but it's no different than when you hear shots out in the woods. Never had my car broken into either. In these places, people think twice about doing anything because they assume that everyone has a gun. If something was to go down, no one is coming to help. In my experience, people won't mess with you out there.
I go there almost weekly. There are windows smashed out of cars all the time down there. And I've been hit with bird shot a few times from idiots not paying attention while hunting. There are also idiots shooting rifles down there all of the time.
Ya there infested in that area of the river the placo is. And ya that’s always been an awesome fishing spot just imagine it use to be a lot better before they redirected the river. Been fishing there for about twenty years now
Man that’s a placo fish. Those are vary invasive species of fish to have in there. The state of Az recommends killing them and not putting back into water! Sounds crazy but what they said to me. Great video keep it up.
How much weight on the craw ?? Have done good in that exact spot with a bluegill pattern crankbait but I'll give the craw a try. Just drag on the bottom, bounce here and there... right? Any tips?
@Luke M that’s right. Just let it drag and clank the rocks. I was using 1/4oz weight.

@Dustin Walton I go past PIR and take a right on the 4wheel trails and follow them until I get to the water.
Your not supposed to park down there anymore. Probably the police giving you a ticket!
