Thanks for a great video! I just bought a 2021 Specialized Rockhopper Elite 29er. Can't believe I found one in my size at my LBS. Loving the bike! I've already swapped out the pedals for a pair of Raceface Chesters and the grips for a pair of DMR Deathgrips. Just bought a budget hardtail to get back into mtb. Way back in the day I was pumped if a bike had v brakes!! It was a nightmare choosing a bike now, so many makes and part choices, a million groupset combos and geometry charts! 🤣
I started out on hard tail but with more skills and distance came lower back pain. Bought a Pivot last year, better on this 67 year old back. Still have my hard tail though. When Pivot is getting serviced.
Hardtails rule! I have an entry-level Specialized Rockhopper (with some upgrades) and my next bike is going to be another hardtail. I'm debating between a Chromag or another Specialized Fuse. GREAT VIDEO! Thank you!
Our local trail is quite tame and my mate complains it's too easy (he has a full sus). I leant him my HT and he came off in five minutes. I like the fact that it makes you learn the skills and there's more challenge when going at speed.
Last spring I brought a used 2007 Specialized Hardrock Sport V-Brake. Love ridding this hardtail. I have upgraded it 1x 28T oval chainring and Box Tnree 9 speed X-Wide drivetrain. Also, changed the grips to Ergon GA3, pedals to RaceFace Ride, and brake pads to KoolStop MTB dual compound. Future upgrades will be a 120mm fork and wheels with disc brakes with 27.5 front and 26 rear.
Love my hardtail! Just got my new shorts from you guys in the mail, great product! Can’t wait to try them out in the spring, it’s a bit cold here in Minnesota right now but we are still riding in the mid 20 degree temps just more layers of clothes. Keep up the great vids you guys, love the group!
I own a steel dirt jump hardtail and I like it really much but soon I’m getting a full-squish because my dream bike always had a shock in the back to take those stairs, roots, rocks and landings.
you should do a video on a hardtail 27.5+ with a cheap suspension sadelpost and a sofa saldel for commuting, if the roads was a bit rough. Like "what if a jeep was your daily driver to work"
guess my 12 year old hardrock pro isnt dead yet then!! it's pritty much standard have orderd a dropper post for it though as wacking your plums off the seat i have found isnt much fun!! might be crap by todays standard but it gets me out there having fun!!
i bought a hardtail after a dually. so much fun. not actually any slower. it's harder work and harsher, but i don't think it's any slower. at least at my level.
Gotta be quick buying a bike at the moment as the shops have high waiting lists and there is a risk of the prices jumping up after Brexit - I couldn't get the idea of getting a hard tail out of my head and spent 5 straight days scouring gumtree, eBay, marketplace etc. finally found one that was local and have not regretted it. Sunday mornings are now ridiculous fun.
I changed my bike last year from 26er fully Epic to a 29er Epic HT. The first ride was like sitting on a 3rd class train. The rear suspension gave me such a nice feeling. After you got up on the bike, you could feel that something is just damn right on this bike. However on race times the two bikes were almost identical. I liked climbing more on the 26er wheels. The bigger wheels cause often back pain.
I just got the Canyon Stoic 4 and its a sweet ride. NX eagle drive train, RS Pike fork, Schwalbe tires, and sram 4 piston brakes. You wont get that kind of spec on a $2000 full sus. When I wear out some of the components i will upgrade to GX or possibly switch to Shimano xt well see how they hold up. So far I like the sram stuff its the first time Ive had it on my bike.
I had a gt avalanche hard tail which I abused and it held up. I've now got another hard tail frame with internal routing which I'm building. I prefer hardtails over full suspension, I think hardtails teach you to ride jumps and trails with more precision and attention as in landing and body movements
i got the new book!! im building up a 2007 marin b-17 axc 26 inch hardtail with a 2003 marzocchi bomber dirt jumper III fork. i like hardtails but not how they tip forward when the suspension compresses. i like full sus how it compresses evenly.
I prefer hardtails. All my friends ride full suspension, but I like to stand up and grind while I leave them in the dust. Also I tend to "glide" over technical parts. Just my riding style.

Also, changed the grips to Ergon GA3, pedals to RaceFace Ride, and brake pads to KoolStop MTB dual compound. Future upgrades will be a 120mm fork and wheels with disc brakes with 27.5 front and 26 rear.
I had a hardtail and now I'm getting a new one, they are awesome!
I rowed back from a fully to a hardtail and soooo happy 😎 😎 😎
I’m buying my first hard tail on Thursday, it’s a 2011 Specialized Stumpjumper Evo
Love my Trek xcaliber 9
Best £1,100 I've ever spent
still rocking my old 2014 giant talon love hardtails.
Great for learning?
Agreed, actually learned how to ride a bike with an mtb that I borrow.
Just bought a 03 Brodie HT Will Awesome When Im Done With It
last year I bought a bulls sharptail 3 with a cheap suntour for 400 Euros. It weighs 15 kg^^ But it still makes me happy!
I love hard tails too, although I’ve recently been favoring my full squish!
you should do a video on a hardtail 27.5+ with a cheap suspension sadelpost and a sofa saldel for commuting, if the roads was a bit rough. Like "what if a jeep was your daily driver to work"
I love my hardtail with the right upgrades hardtails can take a pounding on the trails. Hardtail for life.
Wow the geometry on that bike is insane, would have been nice to include that info too
Right? Not exactly your daddy’s 90s M2 Stumpy. Maybe add some bar ends and a Thudbuster to compensate...ok, maybe that’s just me.
Sold my 18 giant trance for a 2020 Nukeproof Scout and it was the best decision. Love my hardtail and i will never switch back to a fs.
guess my 12 year old hardrock pro isnt dead yet then!! it's pritty much standard have orderd a dropper post for it though as wacking your plums off the seat i have found isnt much fun!! might be crap by todays standard but it gets me out there having fun!!
I love watching GMBN. These are some of the most entertaining host. Pinkbike could take some pointers those guys are so boring to watch.
I love my Orange P7, and have no plans in changing it.
i bought a hardtail after a dually. so much fun. not actually any slower. it's harder work and harsher, but i don't think it's any slower. at least at my level.
Steel hardtails are awesome. Built up my new Production Privee Shan 4 months ago and the grin factor is massive.
Nice! Send in some pics for us to check out at upload.gmbn.com if you like 🤘
Have sent some in couple weeks back 😁🤘
I changed my bike last year from 26er fully Epic to a 29er Epic HT.
I ride both, hardtails can be hard on the lower back if you have issues, full suspension is more forgiving
I love my fully ridged Surly Krampus 29+. It takes me any and everywhere I want to go. :)
I agree with the Smile on Hardtails cause I have a hardtail and its my first bike. She's a really good bike. Best part: hardtails trains the owner
I ordered a Ragley big al 1.0 today 👍
I had a gt avalanche hard tail which I abused and it held up. I've now got another hard tail frame with internal routing which I'm building. I prefer hardtails over full suspension, I think hardtails teach you to ride jumps and trails with more precision and attention as in landing and body movements
I Have A Normal Cycle But MTB Is Awesome 🤘💥💥💥💥Awesome Video Bro. Love From India 🤗❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
i got the new book!!
im building up a 2007 marin b-17 axc 26 inch hardtail with a 2003 marzocchi bomber dirt jumper III fork.
i like hardtails but not how they tip forward when the suspension compresses. i like full sus how it compresses evenly.
Great advice , Cheers !
I prefer hardtails. All my friends ride full suspension, but I like to stand up and grind while I leave them in the dust. Also I tend to "glide" over technical parts. Just my riding style.
I'm in love with my Last Fastforward V2 HT #SteelIsReal 🥰
Riding a hardtail is love, hardtails are life.
