    I just ordered the Canyon Stoic 4 yesterday, but here in the EU we get the silver frame and supposedly better components like Shimano Deore 12 speed drivetrain, Shimano Deore M6120 brakes and DT Swiss AM LN 370 rims. I paid €1858,80 in total for it to be delivered to my door. It is supposed to be delivered between the 29th of May and the 9th of June. So stoked!

    Got the 2022 growler 40 from a local shop and that got me $1400 out the door, also it didn't have the Clark's brakes, it came with Shimano mt401 brakes. I've heard good things on the Clark's so I wasn't worried about them but I was also happy when I looked and the brakes were very decent shimanos. Also they come with a built in hard plastic mud flap. Actually just traded this bike even tho I just got it, I belong on a 27.5 and found someone a few hours away willing to trade me their commencal meta with better specs so I really just got that bike for $1400 out the door and a long day trip. Well worth it.

    I had this shortlist of budget HTs with mid-level components, good reviews, dedicated fans, $2K range, etc. Stoic, Meta, Scout, Timberjack, et al. All more the same than different (modern aggro geo, value priced, blah blah) at least for an aging gravel/CX/roadie who doesn’t even yet know exactly who he is on a MTB. Suddenly, without warning, an unadvertised flash sale on the Stoic 4 $1499! $500/25% off just like that! It was a a sign! So I bought it!

    That’s my black On One there towards the end, shout out to Jake at the bike lab in Anacortes, WA who did a killer job with my custom build! Guys I love this bike… it’s a lot of fun to ride, and yes it SMASHES the downhill! Super fun to ride up at Galbraith! Sturdy, supple, long and slack for sure. I’ve been having a lot of fun these last few months on it. Been riding it more than my transition spire!! Admittedly this is not a playful and jibby little jumper, however it is still a lot of fun on the jump lines and climbs well enough. That price is ridiculous! I definitely spent way more than that, but also pieced it together with exactly what I wanted so I do have a better spec all
    The way around. Like I said, I really really dig this bike and highly recommend it to anyone thinking about. I’m 6’-1” about 230lbs for reference and am on an XL. I’ve never felt so comfortable in a cockpit before. Love it!

    Yep agree with you. The Vitus Sentier hardtail just confuses me. It has massively long seat tube for no apparent reason. Its anywhere from 30 - 60mm longer than its competitors. The crazy thing is that they actually reduced the seat tube length from earlier models! Last thing I want when descending steeps is a high saddle pushing me forward over bars.

    I run a dave for a year, the good it descends very well and climbs reasonabley well considering tge aggressive geo ...the bad, its a really heavy and unforgiving frame . The seat position is really uncomfortable on longer rides ,it's the only bike I've ever had where it feels like the bottom bracket is behind the seat when peddling, the paint Finnish and durability is terrible. The gx drivetrain is paired with a nx cassette so not 52 tooth. Shifter is mounted on the breaks as is the reverb lever which is nice. Reverbs a 175 which is also nice .

    A hard tail is a great option if your local terrain is not too rough. Full suspension is still worth the money with lockouts. Even cross country suspension specs is better overall than hardtail. For most folks and entry level riders they area great and still fairly capable. Riding a fully rigid mtb will make you better rider provided the terrain isn't crazy rough.

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Год назад +1

      Interesting opinion! I’d say it’s the entry level rider who needs full suspension on technical terrain. A skilled rider can haul ass and (IMHO) have more fun while doing it on a hardtail. If you are coming from an full damped carbon XC bike( Scott RC 900), and just looking for some fun riding in woods with alot of over rock gardens, big roots, fallen trees and not going to spend to time in the skate park or very big jumps, wich of these do you recomend? And the riding will not only be downhill. Just tired of my XC bike is to heavy in the front, and not as playful. Shuld be easy to get the front wheel up a little bit. Also size? 187cm...

I personally ride an RSD Middlechild and absolutely love it, super playful and adjustable (can be set up 27.5, 29, or MX). It’s a bit pricier than the bikes on this list, but if you can stretch your budget up to $2,300 or so I’d say it’s definitely worth it 🤙

      @@ridingwithjoshandwendy thanks so much for your response! , after looking at the geo of the vitus sentier 27 VRS doesn't that look more playful?
      main thing is, what bike would be better at doing steeper jumps?

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Год назад

      The vitus has a pretty high seat tube, which can make it a bit trickier. But the steeper HTA and shorter reach will also make it a bit better feeling on the jumps. It’s a bit of a trade off for sure

      @@keithe8351 they're both great bikes, depending on what your goal is. The Xtrada7 will be best for XC rides, where maintaining speed through tight terrain and up hills is important, where as the SQ1 caters more towards downhill speed and jumping, but won't be as nimble at slower speeds. If you go with the Xtrada7 from BikesOnline it would be a huge help to our channel if you purchase it using our affiliate link. I hate the pricing of the bikes, as Im Mexican living in Mexico, they actually are most expensive here than the currency conversion, and we wouldnt be able to buy in the US without proper import fees, taxes, and shipping. And the worst part is income differences, average salary per year, a manager alike, could be around 10 000 dollars here (I tend to earn more than that), most of the people earn so much less than that, and I think in USA average could be 40 to 50 thousands, anyways, is so uneven, buying a bike what represents to people here to people in the US, a whole diferent picture

Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

      Biggest difference are the geometry and fork travel. XC bikes are designed to be the fastest possible climbers, whereas aggressive/hardcore hardtails have a larger priority on descending/jumping
