The Lotus Exige is an iconic Lotus; 2020 saw its 20th anniversary, and 2021 will also see it's final year of production. To celebrate this exceptional car, three final edition models will be available; the new Exige Sport 390, new Exige Sport 420 and new Exige Cup 430.

For a short constructive tip, maybe music could be turned down a little bit more next time. Thank you for your amazing videos sir, you are a big inspiration !
Noted, thanks 👍🏻
I prefer the music turned of completely.
Agree, playing rock music throughout the dialogue is unnecessary and quite distracting, especially with headphones on.
Thank you so much for this video! World needs cars like the Exige. I used to own the 350 Sport, just who drove these kind of cars can understand the feeling they deliver! Melancholy moment for me :)
The first 4 minutes of this edit has more repeats than the Dave channel!
Never thought I’d see those mistakes on this channel. 😅
Brain fog due to Lotus intoxication?
@@patriksoderqvist5617 must have been the shock of Lotus agreeing to his fees!
Agree. Video full of technical inaccuracies also.
@@simonbirkbeck2856 what were the inaccuracies?
Quote of the year: "it's not about lap times, it's about good times"
Such an underrated car
All lotuses are underrated tbh
@@TheCarKrazeOfficial agreed
I own a 380 sport and love it. So much more involving than many of it’s direct rivals and won me over from the first test drive! Might just keep it forever 😎
@@martinbaker8807 cool! Did you track it?
@@jaysonb.8592 hey, yes I’ve done a few track days. Silverstone, Hethel, Donny. Plan to go to Spa when I can too. It’s bloody noisy and touch and go on the drive by noise regs, but awesome fun 😄
I've got the 350. The 390 is fantastic value for money. Forged wheels, 2 piece discs, charge cooler, adjustable suspension make it worth the extra over a 2nd hand 350. I couldn't stretch that far but its a very special thing.
The noise this thing makes was worth watching if nothing else... goodbye Exige, you will be sadly missed!
Nahh, just buy an Alpine. Doesn't look 20 years old in the cockpit, is lighter and you don't see them everywhere on the road 😂
@@A5hTriX Nah, I have driven both and I can say that, as much as I love the Alpine and would probably prefer it day to day, it does not come close to the brutality one of these things have.
@@A5hTriX I live in a very wealthy part of the state of Florida. I have seen 3 Lotus(es) throughout my time in Florida, which is my whole life, just about.
Chances are, people will buy the Exige over the Alpine, and you can't even BUY the Alpine here in the states. Here is my reasoning (what I say about the two cars is all based on the 2021 model statistics for both.):
1: The kerb weight of the Alpine is between 2500 and 2900 pounds. The Exige is between 2050 and 2530 pounds. The weight difference for the top-of-the-line models of both are practically negligible, and the Exige is way lighter at the base level.
2: The analogue gauges in the lotus can't short-circuit like the digital ones in the alpine because they are mechanical parts. The Lotus is built with Toyota parts, and the Alpine with Renault parts. I'd rather pick the lotus, from a reliability standpoint.
3: You are comparing two totally different sports cars. The Exige is meant to be a raw, simple track day car, with over 375 horsepower, it does a 3.7 second zero to sixty, and it goes over 170mph. The Alpine is meant to be more of a daily-driven sports car with all the luxuries of your soccer mom SUV (except for seating and cargo), making only 288 horsepower (for the A110 S, not the base model), and it goes only 160 miles per, with a 4.4 second time from zero to sixty.
If you want to compare the Alpine to a Lotus, pick the Lotus Evora. The Exige beats out the A110 in all categories except for comfort.
The Exige and Elise are effectively racing cars adapted for the road (usually it's the other way round). They are not similar to the Alpine at all really.
Out of the box the Lotuses are pretty quick on a track, they even come with really good AP racing brakes. They will go round and round all day, not overheat and not get brake fade. Most cars cannot do that without mods.
@@A5hTriX Alpines look horrible though, those bugeyes ewwwww
That engine sound is a thing of beauty!
You really can't beat a Lotus, this was a great video, loved the cinematography and music too
I had a great day on that track when I bought my first mark 1 Elise
Bought my first Series 1 last weekend! Look forward to some better weather!
So excited were you James that you 'made big mess' on your fleece! 🤣
A friend of mine has one of these (earlier model) and they're wonderful machines!
Great vid but you got the price wrong: the 390 starts at £64k.. I know this because I have one being delivered in July :D
Lucky you!
Exactly what I thought. Mine’s pretty well
specced and came in at £74k
Congratulations on getting hold of one!
Congrats to you too!
£88k by the time it gets to the southern hemisphere 🤔 2 to 3 more months wait for me, getting tiring!
An S3 Exige is my achievable dream car! Such amazing cars!
Music during the talking parts didn't work for me..
Love the video but lots of repeated comments at the beginning, the bulkhead shots were out of sync with the noise and the music was super distracting. Seems like you had a bad day in the office? But, what a car, what a noise. 😁
Lotus exige what a lovely car what a great engine and just about a ton weight great combination
It’s my dream to own one. Amazing video as always! I’m quite sad this era is(has?!) come to an end, but at least hoping to have a go in one in the future.
I'll spec mine in British Racing Green with a yellow stripe and yellow stitching! 👍😀
I wanted one of these so bad when they first launched in the USA. One of the most underrated cars of all time. Great work James.
Sadly, these V6 Exiges were never road legal in the U.S.
@@craigyirush3492 I know I was talking about back when they had the supercharged Toyota 4 cyl.
Can’t fault the enthusiasm but so many facts wrong. Exige V6 platform was launched in 2012 so not yet 10 years old. RRP is £66k OTR. Just for starters.
My Dream Car! Fingers crossed, in the near future I would own one!
What a car . Lotus always made their car like a go cart. The price on these will skyrocket in the ellise.
You could make a hole video just on the sound alone, what an epic car
James, been a fan of the channel since the beginning - great car and photography, but editing (repeated audio statements) in the first few minutes made me feel like I was going crazy.
Crazy to think the exige is older than me by about six months 😳 this is something people should have in their garage
I would love to see to see the Elise Final edition.
Great content as always.
Wow, it actually sounds great. This ticks a lot of boxes for the modern enthusiast.
Perhaps not the finest edit. We heard the first time that it wasn't hardcore, over six figures and that it's the final model! :)
I’m in love with the Exige S.
Utterly fantastic car that has been the first car in the dream car garage for a long time. Hopefully the Emira will fill the vacuum.
Absolutely move my 430 cup, we will never have these kind of cars again T__T
Insane review love the content every time ❤️💪🏽🔥😎
In how many modern cars can you watch the engine torquing on it's mounts in the rear view?
Just got back from a afternoon out in my 350 sport and its like reliving my day..........................
That V6 does sound awesome and Lotus has it right!! Looking forward to what’s next 👏🏻👍🏻🇨🇦
If you check TG's evija video
The executive said the replacement for exige will be more comfortable for long journey
So less raw
Which is sad. Lotus is known for being a raw sports car you can have fun with and throw around
The music running through the episode was a nice touch.
Just bought new headphones, and I absolutely love the sound of this car
Now, I feel like a need to get my V6 out for a drive. Great driver‘s car.
Confusing editing in this one! Some repetition for sure in some places, still great content though!
Plus he keep repeating as well. Very messy video
The purge of the sports car and enjoyment continues... Lotus had the right idea for cars, cut the unnecessary weight and develop and hone over a long period of time - that's the environmentally friendly way that others should have been allowed to follow, but now we are stuck with electric that weighs 3x as much as a Lotus Exige. and new platforms every 30 seconds. What a depressing place the future will be. A touching video.
Well said.
I’d rather own this than ANY modern Supercar
One of the best sounding cars!
Nice driving ! Heel and toe shifting sounds great with this v6
I would love to have this car. It's such a great drivers tool.
It is simply all about the driving. Great video
This would be my daily/canyon cruiser here in Southern California
Where you at the red lion pub in todwick on Friday? I saw a Ferrari with the reg H2 JWW in the carpark
It’s crazy that I can notice how much easier it is for him to talk while he’s pushing a car on the track now. All that Praga driving is paying off I guess lol
Wonderful vehicle nice to see a Lotus resurgence.
Looks so much fun, manual V6 supercharged light and nibble 👌
Incredible car! One of my all time favourites. Side note: the music is really annoying when you’re talking. Only needs to be added to certain parts of the video for some added drama 👍🏻
"Isn't about good lap times but good times" - well said
A serious introduction.. Love it. But the music in the background is off putting when you are talking on the track
Best car I’ve had so far was my Elise 111R. Picking my 718 GTS 4.0 on Saturday so will see if Porsche is as good 😉.
Is it good? Congratulations with the new GTS. Amazing car i can imagine, what its like?
Love it! Can't wait to see their new range out on the track Evija is just mental
Also doesn’t sound bad at all love it
Very nice - managed to find one... question is now do I buy it!
That Toyota engine sounds fabulous
Is it 390bhp/tonne or 349? You said one then the other straight after
397 from the engine, 349 per tonne.
@@dannyd7714 you obviously never listened to what he said properly
@@-LK34- listen again, Danny was correct, he said 397 from engine, then said 390 per tonne, then 349 per tonne
@@johntorr6213 yes? 390 per tonne then 349 per tonne? Which one is it🤣
I’ve always wanted a lotus but I’ve been told that service and reliability are an issue. But I love the brand and the lightweight methodology.
Thank you Exige.
I’ve had 4 and they were all fine... Elises are pretty simple underneath and the new Toyota engines are Toyota engines!
The Toyota engined ones are pretty reliable. Mine is 15 years old this year and done over 90k miles.
You'll have less problems with these than an old Porsche.
Excellent....Please do a Video on the Final Edition Evora also.
They have cancelled the final edition Evora
@@johntorr2074 Really....that's sad. :(
I have the exige 410 and the reg is **20 JWW 😁
the exposed gear linkage is the coolest thing ever
Cant wait to see whats next for Lotus
Soundtrack in the begining is wicked
nearly sounds like a v12, that's insane
Brilliant British sports car, Lotus just get it right. 🏁👏
Great video, end of an era for sure and really sad, lets hope they can inject some Lotus DNA into the EV market. Loving the glasses when will they be available?
The body roll is suprising.
Body roll is a good thing when engineered into a chassis properly.
You should really try an Alpine A 110. If you’re after lightness and perfect road touch with a small touch of practicability, you’re at home.
Only as an automatic sadly
Is it twenty years since the Elise? they were great fun to drive back then, at work! As I can see you have had now! That looks wonderful! What a nice way to say good bye to a wonderful legacy Lotus Created! sigh
More. Elise launched in ‘96, S1 Exige, which was based in it, came out in 1999 or 2000.
@@craigyirush3492 Thank you for that. I had infect forgotten that oops!
Loving the music. It's cool
Always wanted one,so sad that this is the last version
New watch!!?? Are you going to do a video on it!? It would be awesome if you did
Such an underrated brand full stop
79 k you’re Kiddn Right nice 👍 gotta tight Box , sounds good 👌 real good
Wait am i missing something is the exige 430 cup not the final edition?
Is it better than a gt4?
What's with the final editions? Giving up?
Sounds far better than most Ferrari's.
That engine sounds proper!!
Sir, your sunglass reminds me of 'Boris the animal' :P
Wish you would have reviewed the Evora GT / 410
I’m also full of hope for the Emira. I think it’ll be my forever car that I could realistically afford and be the last hurrah for petrol. I’d go exige but that 20 year old interior bugs me! Could have driven the Aston there instead of the Porsche though!
Agree, I would never buy a 250 GT SWB because the interior is so dated!
The upcoming Emira will be technically the last real lotus 🥺 unfortunately...
Yooo didn’t think I’d see you here
@@MylesT111 👋😁
The Emira will have to be much heavier to satisfy U.S. safety regs.. heavy ≠ Real Lotus
I really wish these things were in North America!
A Lotus is already on my short list of to buys... this video has re enforced why!
They stopped selling the Elise/Exige in the U.S or I'd have ordered one immediately. I'm looking forward to Emira since they will be coming here.
lotus as a brand is sooo underrated
Wow I really want an exige now
What brand/model of sunglasses are those he is wearing?
His own company coming soon.
So when this platform made its debute, Porsche was building the 996, Ferrari had the F360 and Lamborghini was still building the Diablo...
I see the lotus is a great car, but can he comment on what was on his left arm sleeve?
Nice hommage.
Can ask lotus for you to drive or leak some info for the emira or evija???
SoCool.. James^^
$$$$$
Definitely some repeating audio loops at the start.
If this was available in US, id buy it in a heartbeat.. dam u regulations..
I'm confused, do they have a new car coming called the Emirah, or did you mean the Evijah??
The all new Emira will be introduce at Goodwood in July.
