We jains are already part of UCC as we are under Hindu code of conduct, we don't have our own law. we feel, UCC should be there for all. All Indian irrespective of these religions, should get same Rights & Duties.
Registering of live in relationships should not be seen as government exercising control, rather its government recognising such a set up in society and creating necessary laws and provisions for it. This is very much needed.
It will not stand the scrutiny of constitutional court, it is more for accepting live-in couples so that people can accept the reality and it will pave the way for same-sex marriage in the future.

As someone in live in relationship, living in a Western democracy, I second the partner registration policy with mutual consent and option of informing of relationship break off with no financial entanglements if it didn't worked (the registration process has to be something online, not barred with red tape). Cause someone in serious committed relationship, finds marriage as a daunting milestone especially due to current career and financial considerations, not relationship factors. So in this due course something like this will surely ease up elder of any community/apartment and make live-in, late marriage acceptable in Indian society. The intention has to be not be more liberal, the intention has to be to make conservatives progressive.
UCC should have been implemented after Independence. We are a diverse culture but that does not mean we should have different laws for every religion. UCC will help people.

Correction Palki ma'am - Registration of live in couples is done in some of the european countries. But people do it willingly as it has legal and tax related benefits.
If western countries don't follow registration of UCC it doesn't mean India too copy them. This is world's first and definitely in the future many countries will follow the registration of LIR just like marriage. Registering live in relationship is a good idea. It will ensure that one of the partner is not cheating other(say one of them is married or he is not someone else i.e fake identity etc etc). But instead of making it an offence for not registering the live in relationship, it would have been better to say that no legal protection will be available if not registered relations go sour afterwards ..
What happens if someone with 4 wives migrates from another state to Uttarakhand (perhaps he got a new job there) ? Will he be exempt from UCC ? Or will he banned from UttaraKhand ?

Can you speak about the Outrageous law Clause 69 says that if a man promises to marry a woman, but does not actually intend to marry her, and still has consensual sex with her, this will amount to a criminal offence. Sex under deceitful means or false promises to marry, may be punished with a prison term that can extend up to 10 years. The term consensual doesn't make any sense here neither this law.

Apply UCC, remove reservations, remove minority benefits instead apply educational and financial support for economically poor, enforce digitalisation of legal and government processes for quick delivery of applications, adopt strong anti corruption laws, form uniform laws on clean unban planning, build top class public hospitals, roads and infrastructure, inflict severe financial fines on law breakers. This will lead India's progress to it's rightful greatness.

Palkiji analysis on UCC bill passed in Uttarakhand, is timely and needed .Some provisions may be controversial but it's sooner than later. Corrections can be made subsequently. It will do good for entire nation, but some more deliberations. But should be done faster for the good of all citizens .

Palki says Two consenting adults do not require registration for live-in relationship. I question why not ? If marriages can be registered then why not live-in relationship ? What if someone secretly marries another adult and then say they haven't , after a few weeks ? Would the affected person not be entitled to any damage ?
In today's world, unfortunately, a paper trail is always required in the court of law.... we have to show the court to win our case. Hence, registration is absolutely required so that , say for example, women don't falsely accuse her partner of sexual attack....or men don't accuse women of cheating....
Palki should be knowing a lot more about this as a journalist......

UCC is very much required esp for women. Because i don't want the women of India meeting a similar fate as that of Afghanistan. I wouldn't want the land which treated women like devis to be sold out, deprived of education, no rights to walk outside the house or being married at 6. Correction Palki ma'am - Registration of live in couples is done in some of the european countries. But people do it willingly as it has legal and tax related benefits.
If western countries don't follow registration of UCC it doesn't mean India too copy them. This is world's first and definitely in the future many countries will follow the registration of LIR just like marriage.
LIR registration in a way is enabling the government to ensure couples do not indulge in fraud practices to gain trust of their partner

IMO whats realy deepened the fall of Roman empire was the establishment of legal polymorphism - which means that the Roman law (ceasars edicts, provincial laws, and senate laws) was slowly replaced by tribal laws of those groups who entered Roman empire domain and were settled there in different provinces - and from this point on the provincial law of Roman empire become the different laws - of the province where majority was made of Franks, and the province of majority of Goths, and the province of majority of Brits and so on, and all tribes were able to act before courts due to their own laws - Gothic, Longobardic, Greek, and so on... This is how in reality Rome has fallen. Remember this my good people of India :)

Registering live in relationship is a good idea. It will ensure that one of the partner is not cheating other(say one of them is married or he is not someone else i.e fake identity etc etc). But instead of making it an offence for not registering the live in relationship, it would have been better to say that no legal protection will be available if not registered relations go sour afterwards ..
What happens if someone with 4 wives migrates from another state to Uttarakhand (perhaps he got a new job there) ? Will he be exempt from UCC ? Or will he banned from UttaraKhand ?

Can you speak about the Outrageous law Clause 69 says that if a man promises to marry a woman, but does not actually intend to marry her, and still has consensual sex with her, this will amount to a criminal offence. Sex under deceitful means or false promises to marry, may be punished with a prison term that can extend up to 10 years. The term consensual doesn't make any sense here neither this law.

I don't get the point of why it is wrong to register a live in relationship??? If two adults get married they have to get registered by the system then what's the problem with this for living in a relationship. Albeit it will be fruitful and will bring down the number of crimes which might occur
